2. Go for it then Mark, Yeah I had bridges as an ornament too until the wife told me to sling them. Give me your address and I'll fire them off to you. Mine is Calum McKenzie 62 A Dalkeith Road Dundee dd4 7jh If you get a chance, check out my band Havana Swing playing "Little Girl" on youtube http://youtu.be/_sbRAXmC_W8
 3. Are the Spirocores metal Mark? I'm a jazzer not a Rockabilly player, I bought a set of Weedwhackers but it was like trying to play a T Box bass.
 4. Still got 1 bridge left, willing to swap for stuff! make me an offer.
 5.
it's just a couple of jack sockets, useful if you have two pickups and a neat way of connecting them
Oh right, looks cool! I use a KK blender with the 2 pick-ups I have on my bass, thanks for the offer but if you've got anything else your offloading, give me a shout. All the best Calum

 8.
But where do you stick your Bassmax?
Yeah that would be a problem Bassace! just brings a whole new load of amplification probs! would have to be something like Full Dircle or David Gage or some kind of clip on I guess?
 9. I don't know mate! they have been sitting round my house now for years, make me an offer or swap stuff!
 10. For sale or swap, SELMER aluminium adjustable bridge as seen in photo Only one left, make me an offer, come on your bound to have some old tat lying about. [
 11. That's a great review Tom, I bought one on PAY-PAL last night on the strength of listening to your clips so can't wait to try. My plan is to use Hurley on my back up bass along with BP100 then plug both into KK blender and blend both. For my main bass I use Underwood and BP100 then thru KK which I think works well. I know The Fishman get bad press but I like it for the most part. I find the combo of both irons out any dead spots or quiet notes. I think what you are doing is great! When I think of the money I have spent over the years on mikes and pick-ups amps and stuff,it would have been great to have a try before you buy up and running. This site is a great resource too for tech problems advice and bouncing ideas off other players, just wish it was here 25 years ago, would have saved me a fortune. All the best Calum
 12.
So, this pup is now installed, not too much fuss but I had to file down the treble side slot for it to fit. The Hurley has noticeably less output than the Full Circle. I played with the tightness of the Hurley a bit but that just changed the tone and not output really. To me the FC is fuller and more even up and down the register, but darker than the Hurley. The Hurley has a nice treble ping to the attack and a bigger bottom, almost sounds more "open". I made a few no frills recordings, this is the bass into an Art tube MP preamp into my audio device on the laptop. These were wavs that I converted to mp3 for size. Probably best to use head phones or good speakers. The bass is a cheap hybrid with med-high action and Velvet Animas. Be gentle on my playing The Hurley The Full Circle EDIT: I tried to attach these files as mp3. It saves them with a different extension for some reason. If you download it then change the extension to mp3 it will play. Not sure how else to upload these. I tried Sound Cloud but it buggared the sound of the file and introduced noise

So, this pup is now installed, not too much fuss but I had to file down the treble side slot for it to fit. Sounded beefier, with more attack! Don't get me wrong your pup sounded very good too but for me The Hurley has more balls and cut through better. I also enjoyed the playing, again well done! I was going to hold out for a second hand Underwood but now I'm away to grab one of those bad boys Cheers Calum
 13.
I'll try to get it sorted this weekend and run it at an open mic on Monday night to see what it's like.
Look forward to hearing how you get on Tom
 14.
sorry...mince?
In Scotland if your describing something that is not particularly good its mince! "Gee that pick-up sound great!" or "don't buy it, its mince!" Good or bad, happy or sad!
 15. Mmmm! let me know how you get on Tom please. Its whether to go for one or wait until a second hand Underwood becomes available on Basschat.
 16. Anyone out there tried the Hurley Virtuoso pick up for double bass and what are your thoughts, any good, suitable for jazz?

 21.
I use a similar bass guitar one. Works fine, but I would love a hand drill with a winder on the end. Luthiers use them and it's quick!

I use a similar bass guitar one. The guy that looks after my basses has one, must ask him where he got his, probably Touchtone Tonewoods (Stentor) he puts on a set of strings in seconds.
 22. WANTED double bass peg-winder second hand/used/unwanted. Ta!
