  1. Once fees come into play, would it be cheaper to buy a bridge at £80 in the UK, or buy the same thing for $40 + $10 shipping from the States?

      IIRC you don't pay import duty on items of that price, so definitely the US option..judging by the responses below, much like Jon Snow, I know nothing!

      Be careful. I ended up paying import duty on some strings that were £16 in UK money, 
      but you also pay import duty on the cost of the postage!!!
      You pay duty on items deemed worth over just £15 now... it used to be for items over £20
      My strings were just over £16, the postage was about £11, and I ended up paying around £12 or £13 duty, if I recall correctly (Edit, I know it was a lot)
      So £16 strings, I paid nearly 40 quid for! Be careful, you will be liable for duty on $40 = duty on the postage.....
