Oasis.

They had some very good songs, and going off what I read in Tony McCarroll's book, they worked really hard travelling around the country and building up a following for five years before they were signed by Creation. -
My mate's got one of these, his dad lent it to him and he only payed £50 for it. I thought it was a pretty good bass when I tried it, I really liked the neck.

For 'influenced' read 'educated'.
Aha my theory is still holding up

No, I mean influenced, he wants to be just like him

Thats a very interesting point from a very good case. You may be similar in many ways however your still both individuals so the personal makeup figures. Im also assuming you both had different friends etc?
Nope, we've always had pretty much the same friends. I think he's a lot more influenced by our older brother than I am though. -
I know I like what I do music wise because it was always playing when I was little, but my twin brother doesn't like any of the same music as me so I can only speak for myself.

I think the fact that half of the teenage population is in love with him/them also helps the cash flow. I absolutely f*cking despise him. Although i'll admit, it takes some skill (and obvious marmite-like target audience) to get on the Kerrang! Best Band and Worst Band list at the Kerrang! Awards a few years back.
Oli Sykes
Axl Rose
Fred Durst (Sometimes)
Courntney Love
and the Gallagher twins.
Those are my frontman hates (Yes, they're all men, even Courtney Love, although Axl i'm not 100% sure of )

Just thinking about that brought a tear to my eye.

I had two blisters on my eyes once, not from playing bass of course but it was still awfully painful

What's all that #KateArmy business about in the comments?

Can I change my vote? -
The singer from Young Guns, or any of those glorified boybands.
I got dragged along to see Enter Shikari in Manchester last month and Young Guns were supporting, he pranced around the stage dropping the F-bomb every two seconds between each identical sounding song and asked the audience to "get down on your f****** knees Manchester!" at one point.
He couldn't sing either.
Liam's alright, he's quite funny in interviews. -
About the same for me

I was trying a Jazz bass (didn't like it much) out in Dawsons in Chester this afternoon, when this lad walks over with the salesman to try one out for himself; he sits down opposite me and spends a good few minutes fiddling about with the EQ on a Roland Cube, then proceeds to treat us all to the worst slap bass solo in history. How many times can someone play E and it's octave in five minutes? A lot apparently.
Why on earth do people insist on doing that? I feel sorry for the sales people having to put up with it. -
This one probably isn't very well known, but it's another good little three minute pop song

Can't tell if that's sarcasm or genuine shock -

The signature Fender bass he was talking about seems to have been ditched (see here http://www.bobbabbit...hp?topic=279.45). Whatever you think of signature basses, it seems a sign of the times that Biffy Clyro's bass player gets a signature bass (albeit a Squier) and Bob Babbitt doesn't!

You know Pete Wentz has one too don't you? -
Look, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'm just here to try and get some information on a bass I'm interested in, not indulge in any sort of musical elitism.
That was a genuine question, I use a Squier P bass myself so there was no elitism intended. I've just never seen a bass with only one control knob on it so I was curious. -
I wonder why it has no tone knob?
-
I should be able to get one to try out at Sounds Live, so that's pretty cool. I always feel like I'm being judged for my crappy playing when I go in there though. I probably ought to start saving up at some point, either way.
Crappy playing would be quite fitting on a Pete Wentz bass. -
A Benson P copy I bought off eBay with an amp the size of a child's shoe box. It was a Decent enough bass to start off on I suppose, but the tone knob didn't work and the tuning pegs were antisocial.
I managed to break Ol' Sh***y's neck by putting a set of gigantic flatwounds on it without knowing any better and ended up with a four-stringed bow, so I took it apart to see how it worked, lost interest in putting it back together and banished it to the top of my wardrobe.
