Hi guys, to follow up - I ordered the rip off insurance. If anything happened, it's too big of a risk for a loss I can afford (i'd essentially be bassless! ). At least I'll have a better peice of mind now.
I saved the live chat log where a support representative clearly states I'm covered for all damage up to £100 loss of item £1000. It's fairly well packed so I doubt I'll get any damage, unless they drive a forklift truck over it!
Cheers. -
To be honest, I think I might get it covered in the morning. I'd be broke and basses if anything happens.
Thanks all. -

If this is the case then, do most people here just send uninsured? -
So I just sold a bass on here, didn't get insurance cover for £30 on top of £10 I paid... now I'm paranoid TNT might lose my parcel. Just wondering what other people do.
I need to know before tomorrow though as that's collection day, I still can cover it.
Cheers. -

There's (or was?) a lovely US made Ampeg B100R in the marketplace which I would snap up if I didn't already have a B50R.
£200 - US made, valve preamp, 15" driver, ported. Lovely thing - even loud enough to play with a drummer. I often use the one at a studio we use. They sound great at low volume too. A future classic. Great / flexible EQ and changing the valve in the pre has quite a profound effect the tone.
If you're set on a '51, the MIJ ones are the ones I reckon, rather than the Squiers.

Good suggestion for an amp, they can be found regularly, cheaply and they are decent! Not sure they can get a MiJ 51 too though. I'd get a squier 51 and change the pickup on it for the budget. -
People really do job lots of instruments? Guess I've learnt something today
-
Hi, how thick or should I say wide is it, around the shoulder?
-
That fretless stingray looks amazing!
-
Squier classic vibe or vintage modified, check out epiphone or ibanez too.
-
Personally if you care about tone more than anything I'd invest in a decent amp then buy a cheap bass and install some decent pickups, if you need to replace the pots too they are cheap. If you buy used you can save a heck of a lot, buying new isn't worth it at all unless you're loaded and care about everything being pristine. What's your budget?
Check the for sale forums here. Used gear here is usually cheaper than the used prices you get on eBay. -
Those arseholes... I hope you get your stuff back. Will keep a look out.

Price now includes shipping, if you're going to wait for a price drop it's not going to happen!

Thanks guys. It's a shame it's got to go but I'd rather have the sound I'm after -
Lovely bass, have a free bump

Hi,
I'm putting this back up for sale. It's a USA 2001 3EQ stingray bass. Black with the most beautiful flamed maple neck I've seen. Bass is in fantastic condition with very few marks, the build quality is in my opinion custom shop quality. Very tight neck, a lot of fret life left... can't really fault it.
There are 4 pickguards all with a custom thumb rest fitted which matches the chrome perfectly, it can be taken off too. This has not required any mods to the bass at all, there aren't any marks left either.
Comes all original with the original hardshell case, bridge key and manual. Strings are high beam heavy chromes which haven't been used too much.
Price is £760 by paypal or bank transfer (preferred), shipped. Additionally you can pick it up from Solihull in person and pay with cash. Obviously if you aren't in the UK it will cost more for postage, ask me for a quote.
I am losing out on what I paid for this, only selling to finance a P bass because it gives me the tone I'm after. Bought here from 'dangee' not too long ago (before him, owned by 'Eubassix').
Thanks.
EDIT: Just weighed it at 9.7lbs.

I've seriously considered getting a T40 a few times as a second bass. I'm a little put off by the weight and it doesn't look too great to me, but you can't go wrong for the price they go for. If one comes up cheap I may have to get it .

On another forum I read about glow in the dark bright tape, doesn't look great but you can take it off and it does the job.

Nickel for tuners - except the 'posts' which were chrome. Chrome for the bridge plate. Which other bits do you want to know about?

Everything really, I'm planning a 62 with a 57 maple neck build but I want to know which hardware to use. Any websites I can look at?
Cheers. -
