If anyone wants some (ahem) totally legit software that alters the key of songs, but not the pitch, then hit me up! it also does tempo
-
Make out everything is OK and then a day or so before, just say that there is a problem with your DB and play it on an electric bass guitar instead.

As above really. Based in Coalville, Leicestershire but am willing to post if you are willing to pay.

In our covers band we do everything in Eb just to help the singer out.
I think most bands just do it to sound a bit heavier.
Some bands (IE Queen) have done the majority of recordings just a touch out of key - they are all in tune, but its not a standard tuning - try playing along with Hammer to Fall for instance -
hmm...interesting reading here.
I have tried very quickly with wire wool (not masking the frets off) and havent had any success - i suppose I should stick with it and see -
My Hondo Pro II was ply when i stripped it back..

What about manufacturers/suppliers that dont keep up their end of the deal?
Im endorsed by the London Bass Centre - not fully endorsed, but I get a discount on their products. I am endorsed with them because of my (over?) extensive usage of Stadium Elites Strings - I ONLY play Elites - and I recommend that all the people I teach/come across play Elites and Ive got a T-Shirt I wear at gigs/festivals etc etc. Love the guys down the bass centre, all perfectly good guys..
Until recently they started to try and get me to play a different type of strings - their "player" series - Ive had a couple of sets off them, and they arent to my taste AT ALL - but they now wont send me Elites.
Do I tell them where to stick it and move on to a different supplier, or tell them what I want and remind THEM of their obligations to me as an artist? I keep up my end of the deal, so it should work the other way around, surely? -
Well, it still sounds ok, and fingers as good as it always has (ooh matron) so I think i might leave it for now and see

+1 for Neil Murray. Saw a Whitesnake gig on VHS with him playing and was overwhelmed.
BUT
It was only after listening to Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous that I actually went out and bought a bass - and Phillo is probably my biggest influence by miles and miles -
I hope so!
Thanks for the reply! -
Afternoon,
Ive got a lovely Squier VM Jazz Bass (the Sunburst 70's Jazz Bass).
Its a lovely looking, and sounding guitar, and ive always cared for it since ive had it new.
Now then,
I changed the strings yesterday and the frets didnt look as "shiny" as they did the time before, and certainly looked a lot less "shiny" as they did before.
They arent rusty, but they look clouded - almost like condensation would be the best way of describing it.
Its the first time ive ever come across a bass thats "done this" and im not sure what to do. For the record, ive tried wirewool and a touch of silver cleaner but with it being a maple neck, im not sure on what to do next!
Cheers -
I have a behringer one that you can have for a tenner.
-
Dont warwick do a bass like that as standard? If it works for them, then i wouldnt see it being a problem?
-
Oh pants.
-
can i interest you in any Trace Elliot trades?
-
bit late, but I sold a bass to Alain recently - he said he wanted it, i gave him the info and he paid next day. Bang on.

I had the same problem with Dolphin Music over a replacement scratchplate for an OLP that id sold. Ordered it as IN STOCK AND AVAILABLE, expected delivery with 48hrs (paid extra for it) and 5 days later when it hadnt come (and the buyer was getting at me) I emailed them, and was told i would have it the following week. The following week came and i rang and was told "tomorrow" and then I rang the next day to be told that they actually didnt have any in stock when i placed my order and it would be about 3 months!!!! before i would have one!
In the end i found some bloke up the road from me that made them for less that the cost on Dolphin. FFS. -
Probably NOT the place to put this, BUT;
I recently did a total refurb on a Yamaha BBN5 - who's new owner is EAD...it was a fantastic thing to do (it was my first)
Since then ive not been able to get the time for another project - now ive got some time, i am after a project to do - so if you are halfway thru something and havent got the time, or whatever, then let me know and ill buy it off you!
Thanks (and feel free to move somewhere else if needed!) -
is there anything on axesrus that would be useful?
-
Wow. Just Wow.

Just this. You could say that for a bass player, Im slightly obsessed with Robbo...
Check the solo out from 2:45 - and look at the way he struts forward - sheer arrogance, but it works for me!
