1.
4.75kg according to my fishing scales
Hmmm it's not bad, but it's always the same problem with these ! I owned 5 different SBs 700, 900, 1000, fretted and fretless, loved them to bits ans played them for a couple of years but eventually found love with my fretless 5 string warwick corvette, 3.8kg on a bad day... now these SBs always weight too much for me. 4.5 kg would be an absolute maximum I would consider. It's a shame because they are wicked basses, nothing sounds like them, especially the 1000 with the ebony fingerborad, it rings like a piano ! Good luck with the sale !
2. Hmm interesting, I will have a look at mine, the caps are probably due a replacement soon.
3. This one is dated from 1990 and signed by Pete, got it in Belgium from a retired musician. The neck has a poly high gloss finish, but the body seems to have a lighter satin like type finish, which is pretty much gone on the sides and half the back, showing how much this has been gigged. The treble pickup filter pot is also pretty hard to turn or pull, and I cannot remove the knob, I suspect this has been glued at some point and that some glue has gone around the shaft. It works, but I could definitely use a new pot.
4. I don't know if Buzzardian has owned this very bass, but from what I remember I bought it from a french bloke, who bought it from another french bloke, who imported it from the UK. If I remember correctly the weight was around 4.6 kg
5. Here are a few extra pictures taken this morning:
6. Here it is ! It has been played quite a bit, scratches and used finish here and there, cigarette burn next to the headstock, and proper mank when I got it. After a few hours of dismantling every thing, cleaning with a wet cloth, I strung it with ernie ball 45-105, set the neck relief, string height, intoniation... and it's rocking ! What kind of finish does have Wals on the body ? It doesn't feel like the neck which is poly for sure. It's more matte, with a satin feel, but is it poly ? In other words, can I can use my usual Dunlop formula 65 polish to give it a wee clean and buff ?
7. I'm off to pickup my first ever Wal tomorrow morning, and was just browsing this thread to tease me a bit. Now I'm pretty sure i will never be able to sleep tonight. Took me ages to find a second hand Wal at the same moment as I have cash in hands, and now I know why Wal are so scarce on the second hand market when you see the collections posted in the previous page ! Some pictures really made me swear all of the words i know of, I even made up some new ones on the way. Anyway... I'm delighted to finally get my hands on a Wal tomorrow, but what I really am, is gutted, that I will only own one of them !
8. Sorry it's not going to help much, but I just discovered your youtube channel via the links posted above, man, you're totally out of order ! And that's to be taken as a compliment ! The walrus mask made me click on that subscribe button. And I have to agree with Brother Jones, Chinese Fly is the best thing I have seen on youtube in ages. As the whole point of this post is to sell the bass, I wish you that, but I really think you should keep it, it fits you like a wet suit.
9. No worries, it's a shame you have to sell it and I would be well tempted to get it back if I had any cash to be honest. Let's not forget that this bass is now only available through the custom shop and only in black at the ridiculous price of 7406,95 euros...
10. And I'm the one to blame for the two dents on it
11. Bump ! The fretless SB900 is still there. I will edit my first post now. Edit: well, can't do that as Graeme posted for me It is the one on the left on my couch: Here are pictures of the little dings and dents:
12. It's a heartbreaker but the fretted SB900 is continuing its journey: from Japan to Czech Republic via France and Luxembourg. Can I get a round of applause for the new owner bassbasy ? The two fretless are still there. I will do a special offer for whoever takes the two of them.
13. Good grief ! My Japanese princesses are already on 4th page !
14. I have been asked in MP for more pictures of the two SB900s so here they are: The fretted one and the fretless one You will find other older pictures here, and here.
15. Evil Unded: Can't do that i'm afraid, but I will do a discount and let the 3 of them go for £1000 altogether if you wish

Hello

Hello everyone, just registered on the forum yesterday. I've actually been reading a lot on basschat and finally decided to make the move. I'm a frenchman living in Luxembourg. I've learned english talking to english, irish, northern irish and scottish people so I apologise in advance for all the nonsense I will write on this forum. I've been playing the bass for about 8 years now, started in 2003 or 2004 as I recall. I started playing on a very special Leduc bass, with no amp for about 2 year... It is some unique model Leduc or one of his employees made when they moved their atelier from Rombas to Thionville. It is basically a 4 string bass, but with 5 strings on. I always had problems finding basses for me due to the string spacing i learned to play on: 15mm... A few years later, I've then bought an Aria SB 900 with no frets on, and I just don't really like frets anymore now. I've been playing with the same band for a few years as well now. They picked me up when I could barely play the bass as their bass player left late 2005 or 2006, I can't remember. We play some groove rock, that's all I can call it. Some say it feels a bit like the Spin Doctors, but I believe it is a bit more like spin doctors on steroids or something. Among the 3 of us, the biggest references are: Alice in Chains, Soudgarden, Pearl Jam and all the kinda grunge scene from the 90s. I invite you to listen to some of the rehearsal recordings on myspace, we have been looking for a singer for over 2 years now, with no luck, but it doesn't prevent us from playing like mad every week end. Thanks for reading !
18. Thanks Graeme, these are actually my basses. Just registered on the forum yesterday so I will go introduce myself first, as it is bad form to have only one post sell gear. I can provide more pictures of any of the 3 basses, they are just sitting next to me.
