Oh dear, it's not exactly gonna be Megadeth!

A band I've depped for in the past is looking for someone to play 2 x 45 min on Christmas Day. Arrive 8pm, away by 11, £100.
Mainstream funk / pop / rock covers. PM me and I'll pass it on if you're interested. -
And yes, it's a nice vinyl covering now and also very light.
-
The EQ section is actually really effective with well-chosen frequencies to my ears. In particular the Mid is at 700Hz nicely removes mud for a modern hifi sound. I'd be happy to use it without an additional preamp on big gigs where I'm DI'd were it not for the fact the DI is pre-EQ (and not switchable) - minus points there. Small bar gigs though it'll be perfect.
-
Taken a punt on one of these little combos. I'm an advocate of the wedge shape, especially on small stages when I'm invariably DI'd. It lacks a few features in the amp section but I'll often run a VT Deluxe in front of it anyway. The 500 watts is actually peak, 250 RMS, which should be plenty even if it is annoying marketing.
First impressions are very good. Basic tone is deep and smooth. At low levels with the mid control backed-off slightly and a touch of extra treble I get what is to my ears a sound that resembles my Phil Jones Briefcase (which I love!) with slightly more bottom end - a great start! There is slight whine noise from a fan, but nothing you would notice in a live setting. It might be slightly annoying in the studio though. You can disconnect the internal speaker if you want to use a different cab.
I'll be using it in anger next Wednesday in a guitar / bass / vocals trio. -
Great basses - super comfortable to play. GLWTS.

Victor Wooten tonight in Leeds!

If anyone else finds the invisible dots and wandering top-caps of the original knobs suboptimal, these happen to be a great fit and look pretty good too:

Musicman Bongo 5 is around 17.5mm and a 34" scale. Great for widdly widdly.
-
YES
-
Great sounds, but really let down by the lack of a blend control in my opinion.
-
My Musicman Bongo V is too tight for comfort! 17.5mm apparently, but when everything else I own is 19mm it does confuse the old digits somewhat.

Those VL208's are fantastic in case anyone's wondering!

I think it depends on what sort of show you're doing and what your patter is like.
If you're a function band there for people to dance to, I'd keep it to a minimum. If you're a more cerebral experience, a bit of quality patter / humour can really enhance the entertainment. Bad patter is worse than no patter at all, however. -
Any pics of the crack?
-
Yeah, so I could have my S12T sitting at the back beside the drummer, and my monitor-style SWR 1x12 at my feet. The power requirements / handling vastly differ.
-
Disappointed it doesn't seem possible to control the volume of each power amp individually on the 12.2, unless someone knows different?
-
Scale length / string spacing at bridge?
-
Again, sounds like an issue with your bass(es) / amp. The S12 is an extremely capable and loud cab.

I've got a Wesley P-bass I picked up for nowt in a deal as the body looked cracked, but it turned out only the very thick laquer finish was damaged (and it looks kinda cool anyway). It's actually very playable - very much superior to the beginner basses we had back in the 80's! It probably helps that I now know how to do a decent set-up myself. I played it at a blues jam a couple of years ago for a hoot - nowt wrong with it, so it's now my sling-it-in-the-car back-up bass.
-
I would probably not pay £20 to sell on Basschat unless it was a particularly expensive item. Even then I'd try Gumtree first. The fee structure seems geared towards those with incurable GAS who sell often, rather than those of us who sell maybe once or twice a year if that.
I'm also a mountain biker; Singletrackworld is a very popular forum/news site with a vibrant, free For-Sale section. They have a product to sell (a magazine) but also use much more on-site advertising than Basschat. The clever bit? If you pay to subscribe the ads go away (if you want). -
We're at the Tynedale Beer Festival this Saturday (15th June), on stage around 5.45pm.
Hot funk covers: Larry Graham, Chic, Rufus, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, James Taylor Quartet, The Meters, Bill Withers etc etc. -
Any cheaper than this and I'll be keeping it for firewood.

All the music nerds I've ever played Milliontown to love it! They've just announced some new live dates for April next year - http://frost.life/tour-dates/
