  1. gearslutz is not going to get through the work internet filter
  2. Cheers, the cellar is actually big and split into 4 rooms (old victorian townhouse) back two rooms have been converted for the wifes floristry workshop. front hasn't been touched yet. It has full height celings and a fullsize staircase down so access if no problem. Interesting suggestiions though, going to look into this.
  3. I currently have a unused cellar room and am thinking of converting it into a rehersal room. It's currently got brick walls and a rubble floor. Whats the best way to soundproof this ? Concrete the floor ? Doesn't need to be totally soundproof just dead enough to have drums in there (electric kit maybe) without getting an asbo or stabbed by the neighbors.
  4. Sorry, like a true n00b I posted this twice. Please could a mod delete. Cheers
  5. Had this bass for a few months now and it's my first bass. I was a guitar player until about 5 years ago when I left the band I was in. Since then wife and kid have filled the gap in my spare time. Just got another band together but this time I'm playing bass. I bought a secondhand Squire CV 60's jazz bass and love it. The fit and finish is top quality. as good as the 61' Jazzmaster I owned and up there with my Gibson guitars. However I think it might benifit from a set up. Never done this before as I had a tame guitar dealer who used to do all my guitars. It's a bit boomy on the 7th fret of the bottom string for some reason. Anywhere reccomended in the Leeds area ? Also how long do strings last on a bass ? Would it benifit from a restring ? Any reccomended string for a Jass Bass ? Cheers Neil

  7. Good luck! I gigged (on guitar) about 15 years ago and loved every minute of it. Started playing bass a few months ago and really looking forward to getting on stage again in the near future. As for nerves the only time I ever felt it was when I looked into the crowd saw John Squire standing there ! (looking at our drummer to play in the Seahorses)
  8. Thanks! Will get that software for the mac
  9. Found this video on youtube but struggling to make it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWJx_15Qzy4 the issue is they play it different each time you hear it. If that's the case i'll just make up my own version. I think my current issue is i'm trying to play all the songs note perfect and I need to add some soul to my playing
  10. As an ex guitarist Squire/Encor solid state jobbies Marshall Bluesbreaker Vox AC30 Fender Silverface Twin Carlsbro Fatboy and now Rolland Mini Cube
  11. Thanks, that's great advice. I'll spend a bit of time listening.
  12. Hi I joined here a few month ago when I was shopping for a bass. I bought a Squire CV Jazz Bass from a very nice member here I've been playing for a few weeks now and really enjoying it (I have played guitar for a few years so some transferable skills) I'm in a band and looking to start rehersals soon, but how do I find out how to play songs correctly. I have found the Guitar Pro tab for most of the songs we are playing but struggling with Catch The Sun by Doves. There is Tab out there but sounds totally wrong to my ears. Anyone know how to play it ? Cheers Neil
