1. Try a post on the Statii forum. This model is sometimes sought for here : Statii.com : for all things Status
2.
Is it working now?
Yes it is ! Very nice !
3. Hi ! I've decided to part with my Ashdown AL MK500 Mark King Signature. Although it's a very good bass amp, it is much too loud to be used at its best as I now mainly play in small venues. It is located in France, but it's OK for me to send it to UK - Price includes shipping + insurance. I might also consider some (part) exchange but I don't know exactly what with yet. All I know is that it has to do with "bass"... so feel free to make some propositions ! Price : 570 € Feel free to ask questions if necessary.
4. Hi Tom, I'll try to find time this weekend to take "cleaner" pics of my bass. I agree that this might helpful to sell my bass as it would appear in a more natural aspect. However, I took these pics with a flashlight, which gives also a bad lighting on the bass and may add some "virtual scratches". So I'll try to take new pics in daylight if weather allows. Have a nice weekend.
5. Still there. The bass can be delivered in Oxford on the 4th of May if necessary.
6. Thanks very much for your message Thunderthumbs.
7. OK, price drops to 500 €. I 'd also consider exchanging my Goodfellow with another bass of equivalent value (especially from Spector, Jaydee, Warwick, Status...) Feel free to make an offer ! Have a nice weekend.
8. Hi Pete, I live in the North-West of France, not very far (approx. 1 hour by car) from the Cherbourg and Ouistreham seaports if it can help. Cheers !
9.
what string spacing is it ? looks like precision can you give details ? cheers T
About my bass, string spacing is 10 mm at the nut and 15 mm at the bridge. It's true that the neck reminds of a precision neck it feels more comfortable because it is slimmer. At the moment, I have replaced the original active preamp with a Spector Tone Pump that adds more bass and trebble, but I'll put back the original one when the bass is sold. If you have more question, feel free to ask. Regards.
10. Hello hello ! Just a few pics of my two Alembic basses : This is my old Series I that I bought used from a music shop in Paris in 1990. It was made in 1977. The next one is quite unusual as it is a medium scale Spoiler with the shape of a Series I, but it has a solid body like the signature series. It was made in 1987 and I got it from a nice bass player in Paris who already owns two other Alembic basses (Elan and Essence). It was one of the few basses played by Mark King in 1988 on a Deutsche TV program (the famous bass challenge) at 4:35 mn : Here With Jaydee Series III :
11. Hello ! I'm new to this forum but I thought it would be nice to post a few pics of my 1987 Jaydee that I bought last summer. Just fantastic basses ! And her little Alembic Spoiler sister (1987), used by Mark King on a famous bass Quizz Deutsche TV show :
12.
A fine fine instrument! Looks like quilted maple front and rear facings. Mahogany can be very light in weight, depends on the tree!
Thanks for your comment Nick !
13.
I think the body is a mahogany core with a laminate top & back..
You're porbably right, but the bass is so light compared to an Alembic or a Jaydee that both weigh VERY heavy and also use a mahogany core.
14. And now, here's the back. I still don't know what wood is used for the body. The neck is made of maple + mahogany as you can notice.
15. Hello ! I've decided to part with my Goodfellow Classic as I need some cash for a nice Alembic Spoiler . This early 90s Goodfellow bass must be a Lowden era production. Front top & back is maple with some dark amber tint varnish. Bolt on neck is maple too (I'm not too sure about the wood used for the body). Fretboard must be rosewood. Dual action trussrod. 3 band 9V active preamp. Wood covered pickups. Frets are in perfect condition and neck is well straight. Action is really low. It is in good condition, some minor dings here and there but nothing really bad. I only had to replace the battery plate by a home-made plastic plate as it was missing when I got the bass (I'll post pics of the back later this evening). This bass has its own sound but in order to give an idea, it is really close to that Jaydee bass sound, with a lot of well defined mids and trebbles. But maybe I should post sound clips to give an idea ! More comments about the bass here : My Goodfellow bass thread & comments The bass is located in France. I'm asking 500 € for it (price includes shipping+ insurance to UK). It comes with a good gigbag. Feel free to ask any questions. I'd be glad to answer. More pics on request. Thanks for looking. Regards.
16. Thanks very much ! I'll post some pics ASAP ! Regards
17. Hi mates ! Thanks very much for your comments. This is really helpfull. I think selling it around 600 £ could be a reasonable price considering that I had to replace the battery plate by a home-made one as it was missing when I got the bass. But this is the only "missing" part. Best regards to everyone. Fabien
