If you're on Netflix, check out Mr. Dynamite - the story of James Brown's early life and career. It's bloody brilliant and you owe it to yourself.

Good in it!? Loads of stuff to have fun with.
I found a still of the table shown in the video in the comments section.. -
Well for me anyway. Check it out. I'm sure some of you here will get something from this..

Can't beat Linda on sausages mind.

That is not a sale, merely a chat about a sale. If the seller needs a quick sale then sell it to whoever has COMMITTED to the deal first.
To the potential buyer - Snooze, you lose. -
I find going out to the van with everyone and listening to some really inspirational tunes gets the mojo working.

Ah, the old Sumner v Copeland chestnut.
Just make up, form a nice easy WhatsApp group for future gigs and tell him he can write what he wants on his drums -

Mind, that's all backline, so don't discount the influence of the amp & cab :-)

Indeed! 🤘 -

I'm pretty sure they're D'Addario NYXLs...

Cheers. Never tried them but if I can get close to your sound there I'll be made.

What strings were you using on The Chain in that gig video WoT?

Proper good 'burst on that, nice thin band of red. Tortastic too!

Damn, that's a beauty! Sounds amazing, congrats!

Unfortunately with Ishibashi they can't ship instruments with rosewood fingerboards internationally now due to the CITES thing. I actually bought a 70us P bass in the summer but they couldn't get the license to send it. If they (Ishibashi) acquired the bass after Jan 31 2017 then it's a no go. The P I was after was actually acquired by them in 2016 but they couldn't find the documentation to prove it so no joy.
The correspondence I had with their international customer service chappie was second to none though. He tried everything to sort it out, emailing me almost daily with updates. Gave me a full refund in the end. Can't fault them and I would not hesitate buying from them "again" if I was into maple boarded Precisions.

I shared a smoke with Paz Lenchantin at her last Entrance Band gig. She was really nice and wished me happy birthday (it really was my birthday, and happy it was!)

Totally my cup of tea. Congratulations, cracking NBD.

Good call. Being a reliable person and surrounding yourself with reliable people is definitely the way to go.
Best of luck. -
Not to be confused with the gold tapewound Labellas.
These are proper flats.

And there was me thinking they'd designed a new bass.
Silly me.

Best.

I started with Indie, then funk, I was then a jazzer for a few years.
Now I'm 45 it's primal punk beats. I thought we're supposed to mellow with age.
I'm just getting angrier.. -
Spotify premium is the way forward. Cut the guff.

Have you ever had that experience with a band (not necessarily Radiohead)?

Yes, I've become obsessed with The Fall's back catalogue. Never got them or even liked them but now I 'get' them. -
Up in the sky by Oasis.
Most tunes off their debut are simple and rockin' actually. -

I watched it last night. I thought it was incredible. What a story!
Unfortunately I think the doc will resonate more with those of us that grew up with Brown and watched his career and music evolve in real time.
Was it me or did you think most of the musicians besdes Bootsy didn't have many kind words about Brown?
I saw a lot if live footage I'd never seen before, fantastic!

Incredible is the right word Blue.
I didn't actually 'discover' James Brown until the 80's (born in '72) which was when I started searching for the records all my Hip Hop heroes were sampling so I didn't experience his socio-political importance in real time. Mr. Dynamite just changed all that!
I've always heard of his almost tyrannical control of his band and business so that was no surprise, but understanding now what kind of life he was born into and that he had been fighting for his since birth finally explains it all for me.
It does seem everyone who played for him is still spun out by him, feeling both truly thankful and resentment in equal measures. It must have been mind-blowing to be there. In the eye of the storm..
