My toothless wunkay...
-
Just a thought, I was taught to play classical guitar as a kid and translated this to the bass, the classical note fingering and not using my thumb to play with but as support on the back of the neck, But, there are no real rules, sometimes I only use my left hand and not my right, sometimes my thumb slides over if I feel like it,often my right forearm kinda holds the bass body to me and the neck is just there in space with my left hand free to move where ever, however, the bass is hanging off you via a strap so techicnally your not 'holding the neck', this will only slow or labour your playing, it should be effortless and balanced, weather you wear it high a la mark king or real low, its an ergonomic thing for efficency, however I realise image goes a long way for many, but that may be stopping technical advancement.
all the best guys... -
You cant beat a good 'climax' !

Nice G&L, great score. I bet it sounds great too.

I have the need to p/x my gk rb2000 head, as due to poor timing and being low on work aka skint, I am after a small 1x10 or 1x12 guitar combo, I had a stick come over from the states and its stereo, I can use my gk mb150 for the bass side but need a nice small clean sounding guitar combo for the treble side, I really dont want to part with the rb, its a 500w 2channel or 1k mono head with the foot switch, beautiful condition and works fine and came from a great guy here on basschat, but needs must and as I got it as a backup amp its gonna have to go, please pm me, pics if needed. thanks .nig.
Im in essex and I guess your looking around the £200 mark as a guide value, I could sell to get a combo as an afterthought. -

LOL, sorry, me too ! I blame 1960's schools for trying to make me feel like a freak, until ma and pa had a word. -
I will go for it , unless a gig comes in, whats the cost? I will bring a SB-8 Chapman Stick, that should cause a few discussions.

Didnt these sell on da bay, as I was up for bidding on them? confused of essex.

Hi all, since being a gabriel and crimson fan since the mists of time ive always loved tony levins stick playing, as im nearing 50 and first had a thought about a stick when I was 17, its gonna be a now or never moment to get an SB 8, bass arranged 4ths B to B flat stick, so, do any guys out there already play/ have mastered one or even a 10 or 12 string grand stick or any touchstyle guitar/ bass and what are the pitfalls, thanks.

Found it on what...! However, it looks like a real beauty, I love g&l's, they dont have the kudos over here, but dont let that put you off, they are what you said..."more fender than modern ferkin fenders" Maybe a new thread there I think.

Hi, I have a BABP wunkay on order....get in quick, the piccy is of my fretless, they are great basses, passive with the MFD pup, a 3 position switch with the well documented OMG setting that is near earthquake ! an interesting if one dimensional bass but then so is the precision, isnt it? Early basses were often mahogany bodied and known as 'hogs' across the pond , I believe, go and get one...

Lol, every answer from every angle possible, what more can you want. ;-)

im in a 3 piece pub band and wanted the same thing, we got 2 par 56 cans with clamps, one a side clamped onto the speaker tripod stands to give a colour wash, on or off, cheap and cheerful but makes all the difference.

When I wanted to try a 5, I purchased an aria that kinda looked like a p bass, as ive got small mitts I enjoyed the small neck, I ended up throwing the body away as it was cardboard and a luthier made me a stingray body with emgs, the neck was the only bit worth keeping

I use ultra from the states, a little over square than the regular pp3, so they are a bit snug in the std duracell slot, but they are lithium , i think, but seem to be real long life givers. whaoo, ive lost the plot, they dont seem to alter the tone etc of my g&l's or mm's.
-
However they are the nuts, if you have to play double bass and dont own a removals van then these are sweet, there has been slight issues with mine but overall an amazing tool to put in your arsenal. BUMP.

Just a little thing I noticed whilst lusting at the piccys, it has a bullet truss rod adjuster neck and the latter scratch plate to accomodate the newer bottom adjuster truss rod, but all the same, beautiful.

I just got a boss br micro, its turning into a great bass trainer, many fine drum and metronome times in it plus all the other reasons for using it and its an mp3 player etc...
i bet he's got his mates to up the bidding...not that I've ever resorted to such tactics
LOL, my mother in law won a set of my old astra alloy wheels that way, years ago... -
Yeah, you've gotta be cute these days, I normally open another browser page, copy and paste item into google and check the item out, as you can get mugged of really easily.
-
There you go, all the above is true, but dont forget, returns are a bit tricky, scammers are out there, I normally check feedback, ask a few questions and get the feel for someone, plus you do get paypal protection and instant money exchange even if they cream a bit off, then you have the wait, parcels normally have a tracking code with them so you can keep an eye on their progress, but touch wood, everything ive done has worked out ok, even down to a bass a guy posted via usps just in its unlocked case with a small bit of paper with my name and addy on it, plus the stick on clear plastic declaration envelope, I couldnt belive it was in the case and in tune !

Im not trying to start a piccy war, just a bump from a G&L fan, my L25 is an amazing instrument, if you want a great 5'er then thats gotta be the one. BUMP.

Hi I got an sb8 in july and am gonna try to get down to the bass bash with it later this month, they are an interesting instrument, mine is tuned in 4ths from low b to ...er...b flat, they are a tapping instrument but unlike the 10 and 12 sticks there is room for a bit of finger picking, thes are great and beautiful instruments to play, but to master you need a piano players head as both hands play the instrument.![:)](http://basschat.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/%3C#EMO_DIR%23%3E/laugh.png)
