Last time it was Lieutenant Pigeon PS in Scotland your word is your bond - legally so you owe me big time now All best and thanks for making me laugh tonight after a 12 hr day and 4 hr drive home. Brill !!! Cheers Dave
Sorry Dave, didn't understand that, don't understand Scottish, only Pigeon English !! Keep on bird watching...they may turn up.
 2.
St..St..St..St..Stunning!!! Good luck for your sale
Thanks, you know you want it!!
 3.
I guess what I've got in mind is why you'd allow a dealer to advertise a bass for sale that they don't actually have to sell.
Like i said above, they wanted to generate interest in their shop, dealers do it all the time. This is their last listing of it. Call them, they will say its been sold.
 4. Anyone own one of these, or played one?? SWR Silverado, 4x8 combo. I'm considering one, as they are more portable than a 4x10 or 12 (Obviously!), and they seem good value??? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SWR-SILVERADO-4X8-BA...=item4cf7c697d1 Any comments on these??
 5.
I swapped this with Bassman Sam last month, its a beautiful bass that had at some point been stripped and refinished natural, the finish had worn through on the front and back. I wanted to refinish it black (57 period correct AND RW like) so I took it to trusty Dave Wilson who did the original RW P I built. Stripped with a sleepy Mr Blues The back was particularly bad with the buckle rash exaggerating the grain just on the body contour and when Dave worked on it he has had to do a lot of building to retain the contour line but all looks fantastic. This is how it looks with the body filled and under coated. Getting exciting now
Not wishing to be geeky about things, but a '57 P-Bass would be 2 tone sunburst, with a maple neck. Black wasn't available on P's until early 60's. That said, black/rosewood if thats your thing will be very cool. Good luck with the build, great resto work so far. Not familiar with him, but from these pics, Dave Wilson's obviously a name to remember
 6.
Your '52 has been on ebay for a while now, so I guess you're open to offers ? http://cgi.ebay.com/FENDER-1952-PRECISION-...e1#ht_757wt_907
I actually bought it 3 weeks ago, from the owner. He had it on consignment at New Kings Road for £18500, and Music Ground for £21000. I made the owner an offer he couldnt refuse. I'd been negotiating with him for 6 months, since i first became aware of it. New Kings Road wanted it to stay on their website to generate interest in their other stock. I agreed to allow that for a bit. I know the guys down there quite well, having bought basses from them, so had no problem. I'm certainly not looking to sell it, its the best example i've even seen, either in person or in any books/publications. Having said that.....everything has it's price doesnt it, what did you have in mind??? Rick
 7.
HA!.....as i said "my kind of museum"
Closed on bank holidays too.......it's rubbish!
 8.
Free of charge i hope I'm a Scot. What did you expect. Payment Dave
Of course free of charge, I've sent two already, by carrier pigeon, you should receibve them any day.
 9.
Looks OK I suppose...... If you'd have said £5,999.98 I might have been ineterested.
Sorry Low End, it has to be £5999.99

I need to sell this bass to fund another purchase. Strongly advise serious bidders to view this exceptional bass. Can be viewed in Northampton, fairly central (J15 of the M1) or possibly Cambridge. Any other methods of payment must be discussed first, no exceptions. I’ve included all the important information and pictures, but please ask any questions before bidding. No tyre-kickers or time wasters, bid to buy, not to try. If you’re serious though, please come and have a look, have a play, have a beer, or a coffee. I have a ’59 4x10 tweed Bassman you can play it through. Thanks for looking. Looking for £5999.99 exactly! 11.
hi there and welcome! nice collection! not a big fan of the p-bass but the jazzes look sweet!
Thanks Stoker, I'm not a fan of post '60 P's either, necks are far too wide (And I'm 6' 3", with hands like shovels), i don't know how some folks can play them. The pre '58 P's though (Maple necks), have lovely slim necks (Not the newer reissue or relic versions though), that are a joy to play. Jazzes are much nicer to play, and slightly more versatile for me. From purely a 'collectors' point of view though, the P's are King! Thanks again for the comment. Rick
 12.
Nice collection. I am not proud and would be happy to lighten your load by accepting any that you don't feel comfortable in keeping. Whow is putting it lightly. Welcome Dave
To be honest, i am starting to run out of room, if i need the space, i'll send you all my surplus basses!! Thanks for the comment.
 13. Not a lefty myself, but as a vintage collector/player, thought someone may find this interesting. Not often you see pre-70 Lefty Fender Basses, especially a slab board '60. Very, very nice, i know its had a refin, but it looks superb..very cool. 14. Bit of a bonus whilst searching eBay for a Rickenbacker!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/80s-gal-her-panties-...=item588e5928c5 Or should this be in the Bass Porn section??
 15.
Wow. Talk about just pulling a figure out of one's arse. £3900? Surely that's double the top end of what any right-thinking (reasonably knowledgeable) person would pay?
Double top-end is about right. Why didnt he just offer it to the next bidder, on a 'second chance offer'? All too odd for me.
 16.
Do you not pay a fee to Ebay based on final selling fee's??
yes, unless the buyer, and seller, both agree not to proceed with the transaction (There's a standard pro-forma for this, that they email you). Still have to pay listing fee though, about £30.
 17.
Everyone keeping their eyes peeled for the relisting then?
And...there it is, right on cue!! 18.
It's still the bass that makes people say, "Wow, that sounds nice!"
It certainly is...plug and go, that's all you need.
 19.
haha. I think i may have one that is made from timber that was grown using the very same recycled water and air that maccas bass timber was grown with...I can;t be certain but a buy it now of £2000 will secure it.
That sounds fantastic, i'm gonna stick my neck out, and offer you £1900, but i would like a pic, just before i post the cheque!
 20.
I think I'm going to regret this, but I never seem to get on with precisions. This bass, as you can see is in excellent condition, it's recently had a £150 spent on it for a new nut and refret by Bristol luthier Tom Waghorn, it's been done to an incredible standard with historically accurate parts, and was well worth it as it played like a dog before - it's perfect now, action is apparently below average for a Fender now. Other than that, as far as I can tell it's all original. I don't have an original case or ashtrays for it I'm afraid so it would have to be picked up from me. I understand the current financial climate isn't amazing but I'd prefer not to lose money on this one, it was £1500 and i've spent 150 on it, do the math(s), it is most certainly worth it. I also must point out that it weighs between 6 and 7kg on my crappy Ikea scales, I wouldn't imagine you could do much better than this for a 70's Precision. You can try trades out on me but please bear in mind it'd take a Fender Jazz '73 or before to wake me up if you've got a nice 60's or early 70's custom colour jazz I've got some cash I can give you. Be warned, shiny 6 string exotica doesn't do much for me apart from I like the pretty wood sometimes, I can't handle them so please don't offer me one! James 07827335222
Thats really nice, again, check that weight, seems overly heavy? Good luck
 21.
Hi all, I have a possibility of buying a Fender Jazz neck. Here are some photos: http://img11.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal...63/1650966310_1 http://img11.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal...6/63/1650966310 http://img11.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal...63/1650966310_4 http://img11.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal...63/1650966310_5 http://img11.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal...63/1650966310_6 http://img11.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal...63/1650966310_7 What do you think about it? Is it a fake? And would it be usable?
Definitely a fake, no question at all. Binding to thick, and not the same at the heel as a real fender, truss rod adjustment access at headstock, not heel. Looks horrible, if its for a self build project, and you can get it for under £30, then fine, if its being sold as a '71 to '76 then avoid like the plague.
 22.
Wish I'd had this beastie about 15 years ago when I was in a Stone Roses tribute band. Would have shut up the purist fans who always wanted that bit more. Very cool. Cheers Just Ps. Anyone know what amp Mani used back then? I'm guessing an ampeg.
All the early TV appearances show him playing a Laney head, and two 4x12 laney cabs. In 1990 he definitely used Mesa Boogie, which he also used for the second coming tour, and recording. Thats all i know.
 23.
Simple bump.
Reduced price bump. £6K
 24. Yeah i always liked the bass sound on those recordings, the bass he played was a huge bodied thing too IIRC. That unplugged album is the reason i bought my acoustic bass although mine doesn't sound as deep.
I think it was a Guild F-50 or B-50. I may be completely wrong though. I seem to recall it had that kinda arrow shaped, Guild script on the headstock. Somebody will no doubt correct me!
 25.
May have to take you up on that, certainly my kind of museum.
The museum is quite small, opening hours are a bit eratic, poor disabled access. Admission price is at the Managers discretion. The bar facilities are particularly good though!!
