1.
No, I meant the trainspotting element was a bit sad.. People use what they use...... sometimes I am not sure they use it for the sound...and their might be another agenda,...either way, I don't care much Have t say..so far, on another slant....haven't seen a very good set by anyone, U2 were average, for example.. The crowd seem to be into it all though.
I think alot of time its beacuse they have aman ready waiting with a freshly tuned bass at the ready, possibly set up at a tuning to suit the song. If we could all have that luxury, i think we would, saves that annoying tuning between songs that us 'local' bands have to tolerate. Thats probably more the reason than showing off the arsenal, i think we all know the multi, multi millionaire clayton, probably has a few nice basses!! Personally, i thought they were good, for a bunch of late 40's guys, i think they can still do it, lots of variety, great sound, mixed up the tracks, so they werent just played as the album tracks, plenty of energy, astronauts?, what more do you want?, I'm not their biggest fan by the way, but thought they were head and shoulders above the other sh*te i've heard today, if thats the best of todays music, then no wonder U2 are still going strong!
im no u2 fan, infact im the opposite but i did think it was pretty cool when the spaceman was on. and f*** me those are some nice basses
Only Bono could have wangled that! They should've done a cover of Bowie's Starman for that one though!!
 3.
No..it would be a bit sad, wouldn't it..?
Can't blame him for plugging his own gear!!
 4.
Looks like a '74 Gibson Les Paul Signature Gold Top to me. Nice (Not his usual plonk though). Surprised he's not playing his Fender Masterbuilt Gold Sparkle Precision, give it a plug!
there's the gold sparkle, knew it was only a matter of time!

Nice (Not his usual plonk though). Surprised he's not playing his Fender Masterbuilt Gold Sparkle Precision, give it a plug!
 7.
Rick you have out done yourself with these! seriously cool! I am more jealous of your collection than ever! Well done sir
Thanks, i was tinkering with them earlier, and they are very, very, cool.
 8.
A very handsome couple - congratulations!! Quirky but yet strangely attractive. I love these stories about something being kept under a bed/in a cupboard - I always think/hope I might benefit from something like that - at a good price though! Great post.
Keep looking, they are out there. Not neccessarily at a good price though!!
 9.
Congratulations, gorgeous (er, not you obviously). The work you put into your collection does you proud. Karl.
Thanks Karl, it is rather time consuming, and ridiculously addictive!!, oh, and just for the record, i am also gorgeous.
Hi Rick, I use http://photobucket.com/ It's free and all you have to do is create an account and then upload photos from your computer onto your account. You can then copy and paste the website link address onto here and a nice large photo will appear in your post. E.g.:
Thanks, sounds too easy to be true!!! I'll have a gander later, and see what i can do. Do the images stay there indefinitely, or do they time-lapse?
 12.
Pm'd you, thanks Rick. Gary
Replied. Cheers.
 13.
Just beautiful Rick and what a collection you've got! Do you have any picture links you could show with some more of your collection? Cheers, Jon
Thanks Jon, i have detailed pictures of all my basses, but sadly, I'm not very I.T. friendly, if there is a simple way of uploading pictures, then i could certainly put them all on???. In the meantime, if there is a particular instrument/pic you'd like to see, let me know, and i can get one posted on here. I'm aware of things like Image Shack etc, but not sure exactly how they work? Although I'm sure its fairly simple. Is there an Image Host Site that you would recommend?? Appreciate the comments.
 14.
Far out teles rick! Seriously though proper cool pair there…think I need to start checking under people's beds!
Aha, you've discovered my method of finding cool basses!!!
 15.
I love the pink paisley one... Actually I love both of them!
Thanks, thats how i was with it, i was enquiring as to the Paisley, without knowing at that point, they also had the blue flower, as they'd just got them in, as soon as i saw the pics, and heard the story, i just had to have them both.
 16.
I love them both - equally! Great find Rick
Thanks, it was a great find, until i picked them up this morning, i was still thinking it was too good to be true to find 2 like this.
 17.
What a major score, TWICE!
Thanks ezbass, i must admit i was chuffed at finding such a good Paisley, let alone its non identical-twin brother!
 18.
What a spectacularly excellent find. Hope I do as well when my Vintage P bass search reaches a conclusion. So will you gig them or are they to be admired and kept safe and sound indoors?
Sadly, these are too valuable to take on the road, but they'll get plenty of play-time in mi casa. What vintage P are you after?, PM me, i may be able to help you find what you're looking for? Thanks for the comments.
 19.
They look very happy together Uber kool
Thanks, to be honest, i couldnt really stretch to both, and originally wanted the paisley, but as they were bought together on the same day, i felt the need to keep them together. Obviously the blue flower is the rarer one, and I wanted one....... eventually, i knew i'd regret not taking the opportunity of getting the pair. I'm very glad i did though, they are just amazing in the flesh, never seen better examples.
 20.
Cool! You do pick up some mega collectible basses - how do you do it??
Keen eye, and lots of deep digging and searching. Theres some good stuff out there (Almost all of which is in the US though!). Knowing specifically what you want helps, and try not to get distracted by other goodies. I have a list of stuff i want, which is proving rather expensive, better than money in banks though, and alot more fun!! Thanks for the comment.
 21. After much deliberation, negotiation, and waiting, i finally collected my latest addition to the Arsenal. 1968 Pink Paisley, and 1968 Blue Flower Telecaster Basses. These were purchased new, on the same day, by the previous owner. Apparently, he played them for a year, then, when they became unfashionable, they were retired, in their cases, and under the bed. They are the best examples of these i have seen. The Paisley has no lacquer cracks at all, the Blue Flower one does, but all the paper is intact, most flowers have half the wallpaper missing. Not everyones cup of tea granted, but they play great, sound fantastic, and from a Fender Bass collectors perspective, they are both in the 'Golden 10'. Thats it for a while now, unless i sell both my kidneys!! Here's a couple of pics.

Looking to spend up to about £400 - something wooden, light and french style, would be nice.
