2.
What a ballache. Well, let me know if you decide to flog it, working or not.
Much rather get it fixed to be honest. You ever had your's serviced? and if so, Who did you do it with? The fender Europe guys never seem to be in the office! Been reading about Peavey Classic 400. They looked pretty cool. Shame I wasnt wiser as a couple of years ago i remember one on ebay going pretty cheap. Toasted thanks for checking us out. We're doing a split and touring with the freezing fog guys in march. Looking forward it. Vegas, see you there.
 3. Yeah I heard a band earlier this year using a Mesa boogie 400+. Sounded nice. As for matamp they only make guitar heads right now. Joe, my Sunn is currently knackered. Again. There's some god awful hum present. sent it to a tech who said he'd fixed it, but clearly he hasnt. Toasted, yes they are awsome bands. check out mine H E R E . You may or may not like it. Anyone got any ideas

 5. Right oh, Im thinking of looking at an all tube head. It needs to be warm and LOUD. I play in a loud heavy band, think boris, Unsane, Old man gloom blah blah, I currently use a Sunn 1200s mid nineties hybrid amp with a pair of matamp 4x10's. Of course I'd love a Sunn 300T/fender bassman pro 300 or an SVT II but they are mucho bucks. Anyone got any other suggestions and what price I'd be looking at? And where I can find them second hand other than Ebay? ta. Alex.
 6.
I wouldn't consider it stupidly powerful - in fact it is less powerful than each half of my amp, each half of which drives an Acme 2x10", and has done so whilst using tons of effects. The problems lies with the dubious power handling ratings on most bass cabs. Although they may be able to handle the heat from say 1000W of power, the speakers cannot move far enough without damage, hence they get blown. I've written tons about this in the past if you want to search. I believe it is almost impossible to have too powerful an amp. The problem lies with the operator - just as with fast cars, if you are incapable of keeping control of the power then you will crash and burn. Alex
That sounds all too complicated for me. But im no tech head. Your probably right. Simply put, All I know is I plug my head into the cabs as I have done with different amps before. Cant take this one above 3. play the same as I always have before, cab blows. My band is kind of like your description. Always trying to maintain control of the power but ultimatley crashing and burning. ha.
 7.
When you have blown speakers, how have they failed? And what speakers, in what cabs, have you blown? Alex
I have the same head. and the same problem. I've blown two cabs. I've now had some cabs made for me to spec to resolve the prob. I dont think he's being arrogant, but the amp is STUPIDLY powerful. Im actually thinking of looking for another head because of it!
 8.
the cab setup for my birthday gig. left to right: hughes and kettner 4x12 on top of a vader 4x12, ashdown abm 8x10 (dave ddf's) and my marshall 8x10 with my sunn 300t on top, matamp 2x12 and a CAA 4x12. it was LOUD!
Mmm Sunn, Matamp? What band you play in? I usually like LOUD bands.
 9.
 my current setup
damn! that set up is great! I have a freind who has the same marsal 8X10. Im very jealous of the 300T! I have a sunn 1200s (currently in for repeairs) and im having some Matamp cabs made for me. Cant wait to hear the finished result. If you ever feel like selling the sunn........yeah right!

 15.
I would love a VBA400 head & 4 x 12" cab (or two!). People often say they're rubbish, but I reckon not ;-)
I borrowed a freinds Marshall VBA 400 for a gig. (infact he's on these here forums as DrGonzo) and it was amazing! Sounded pure lush. a good Simple to work Valve head. Had the volume, power and most importantly tone. I would def recomend one. He also has the VBA 8X10. I didnt play through it but when he does it puts a smile on my face.
 16. I have a 1970's Marshall Superbass Mrk II Valve head. 100W. Sounds OKish ina vintage cool way, but the power just isnt there. That was my first head. And I have and use occasionally a Marshall DBS 4x12 cab. Whiche sounds monstrous, but also weighs monstrous! hah. That cab does sound great and I've heard the DBS heads that go with are great. there was one on Ebay not too long ago too.
 17. Ooooooh. I have two grabbers and they're bloody great. Best basses i've ever had. If I had the cash i'd grab this like. Always fancied trying a ripper. But alas, I;ve been bad and need to replace too much stuff.....

 20. This still going? Is it a TVX or a Pro Peavey 8x10? I have both a TVX 4x10 and 1X15.
 21. Any opinions on the Berihnger 8 x10 cabs? Any good or poo?
 22.
Man at arms84 it's gonna be very difficult to get one of those 8x10 cabs, matamp still make custom if you ask them nicely tho so they would build you an 8x10 if you wanted, i think. An Orange 8x10's may be hard to find so thats why I said and gave some more realistic options at the end of the post. Check ebay and you might see a few of those 8x10's a year, or check two tribes guitars web site, good luck if you do try to find one of those cabs. Oh, and you don't play in a Doom band do you?
Well the band I play in has been called doom by some press peeps. But I wouldnt say we are a doom band! hah. Thats just lazy journalist speak. I guess we have "doomish" parts, but we vary quite a bit. I like to just say loud experimental rock with a pyscedelic tinge. All of us who play in the band listen to all kinds of music, and we take influence from a lot of different "genres". To me ony two types of music. Music thats good and music that aint. OR more realisticly music I like and music I dont. ha. I figured an Orange would be hard to find. I've only ever seen one orange 8X10 and that was on US ebay.
 23.
Heh, Alex you always was a moron... Brill, now I can abuse you on tinterweb too!
thanks Bez! I fixed that big muff last night. The one I borrowed off phil then broke the first time I used it......these hands of mine...... matamp/orange cabs, anyone know where?
 24. well I tried out all the suggestions today at the practice room. The speaker had been put in correctly. I screwed it alot tighter this time. Was still farting out. It was the newley changed one that was farting and was farting when it was flexing/vibrating out the most. Seemed to flex alot more than the older ones. I guess this is because it's a brand new sepeaker and taking more power in right? Well I played around with the EQ and found that cutting out some bottom end eradicated the farting. at least until it was at higher volume. I realised I had the low knob quite high! ha. Sooooooo, my guessing is that yes, the peavey cabs im using just cant take the 1200w power from the Sunn. My marshal DBS was fine after playing with EQ. I'll call peavey and ask them just to check their opinion. But my other heads ran fine through the peaveys. Quite releaved that niether the cab or amp seem to be faulty. Soooo now I'll be looking at new cabs. Thomas. You mentioned getting an Matamp or Orange 8X10. Any Ideas where I can find either. Matamps site seems to only have guitar cabs and Im out of leads!
