1. I'm probably gunna stop stop posting stuff on here, maybe my own stuff, in the quiet recording thread. but I wouldn't have posted it on here if I knew it would cause this. I really am VERY thankful beyond words for all your amazing comments, i really am But i'll try just stick to my own stuff in future. Z x
 2.
On a side issue - isn't Zoe risking a demand for payment from the PRS by posting a version of HMWYRS on Myspace? One reason I've not set up a myspace page is that the tracks I'd be happy to post are covers of jazz tunes not yet out of copyright - I assume if I post them I'd thereby make myself liable for PRS fees. Anyone any thoughts or experience on this? Also I think Faithless has been treated rather harshly in this thread; it's very easy for a post to come across as less polite (or otherwise having a different 'tone') than may have been intended if you're writing in a language that isn't your native tongue.
Yeah, I have been worried about the whole PRS thing. its getting a bit silly really. what about... taking the song out the background? and just having the bassline? would that be ok? and its cool, people can have opinions. I know hes not english, so things he said could have come across more harshly. but even still, there isnt need for somethings. Criticism, i can take. like everyone, I get it. and like i said before, 'constructive criticism' is all well and good. Z x
 3.
Zoe, that was a GREAT effort! Keep it up! You've inspired me to go and work it out myself....
Cheers Gary Z x
 4.
I think his instrument has captured many a young lady.. fnar fnar
haha.. should have seen that one coming.. Z x
 5.
Zoe, Hats off to you. Incidently there is another thread on here somewhere with the track minus the Bass Line, (if you can't find it I can send it). If you feel like "getting shut of Norman" you can do it. I really do admire your dedication. How many 10 year olds would stick at something like learning an instrument and not jack it in after a while. I am curious. Why did you decide on Bass at such a young age? It took me until I was in my late 50's to decide that I prefer bass rather than guitar, (that I had been playing for years). Whish i had started earlier
My dads a bassist. but he didnt play bass when i got into it, he played when he was younger, then when i started playing, my dad got back into it and i was always really into gene simmons since i was about 6, his instrument used to captivated me a lot more than whatever ace frehley was playing Z x edit: and yes please, that bassless track would be awesome!
 6.
IMO this is one of the holy grails of bass playing and I can see from your profile you are a Geddy Lee fan. Fantastic ...
i LOVE Geddy Lee and his nose lol partly one of the reasons i started playing bass, hearing stuff like Freewill, and La Villa Strangiato. Z x
 7.
I actually think Zoe got her new mate Norman (as evidenced by recent pics of two together) to record that and she is now passing it off as her own... ... I'm impressed. I tried this and gave up, to be revisited in a few years when I have better technique. Question (and with no intention of hijacking the thread) for the panel - I play with a pick and can get the right speed using a pick (even if the notes are kind of muddled). But no way can I play that fast using my fingers. Is it just practice that is required?
yeah it still feels awkward trying to play with fingers instead of a pick. trying to get out of the pick habit though, so parts played with fingers are still sloppy. and thanks Paul Z x
 8.
Can you play this? Could you when you were 17? Prove it, or keep you negative comments to yourself, they aren't helpful, well intentioned or otherwise. In fact even if you could your attitude is entirely unhelpful in this instance. Zoe, it was a fine effort, and a real sign of your growing confidence with your playing and your standing on this forum that you posted it knowing its not quite perfect. We all know the buzz of the breakthrough to get to this point playing a really hard piece. You've really come on, you've clearly put a lot of effort in to your playing and you should be really proud of what you've accomplished. Keep at it and post the result of another couple of months effort on it, I really want to hear it getting better Top!

Really enjoyed listening to that. By the time I get seven years under my belt I'll be 62.If I get any where near to that standard I'd be happy. Bloody well done.

IMO this is one of the holy grails of bass playing and I can see from your profile you are a Geddy Lee fan. Fantastic ...
really..thankyou I do have a lot to work on.. and i am working hard just got back into bass playing after a good few months of not.. hard to explain. but yeah, back into it, big time thanks again, mean it. feels great to be on this forum. Z x
 9.
Luckily its not always about how amazing you can play its about having a good attitude and just being plain cool . . . .
ROCK 'N' ROLLLL!
 10.
Seriously well done Zoe! It's really difficult to get through that song without tripping up and losing it. It took me weeks to get it anywhere near that level. Any wibbly bits will sort themselves out as you keep banging away at it.
cheers x
 11.
Zoe, keep smiling
Oh i am Z x
 12.
I'm about to get bashed for following, but whatever.. You know, sometimes it just reminds me of those 12-year old kiddies playing Jamiroquai stuff... OK, they KNOW the notes maybe, but they aren't tight at the end (and, with a bit more practice, I think, they could..), but, when, especially, being a bassist, what's the point then? But, then again, they get sweetest applauses (Basschat is not an exeption, sorry..), just because of what? Just because they're young and they try to come over the stuff, that normally shouldn't be taken by a kid? You know, I could probably taken one of those Hadrien Feraud's solos, then get it down to the deepest f*ckin' bottom, but, rhythmically and musically (phrasing and stuff), I KNOW I couldn't make it, so, what's the point then? You'd praise me just for trying? Thanks, but I don't need that. Zoe, I'm not trying to offend you - I'm not actually 'dedicating' my rubbish thoughts to you, it's for those well-wishers to think about it a bit more.. I wish you all the best, but, in the end, you know it yourself, that your try needs a bit practice, and you'll nail it. But, not this time. I'm getting my coat, Faith.
Course i'm not taking offense. To be completely honest, I expected something like this to come up eventually. Yeah, its not the best playing ever. Yeah, it needs some work. Yep.. i need to learn more techniques.. timing etc BUT Its kinda nice to have people behind you, for Ex: basschat. and sure, constructive criticism is needed for improvement. But im also sure there was other ways you could have said what you just did. Z x
 13.
I'll see you when you're a well regarded bassist in the fututre. Don't stop now, that's great playing. How long have you been playing?
about 7 years since i was 10 Z x
 14.
Just had a listen Zoe and it sounds great. You've got a really nice tone going there as well with your setup.
Its just my fender going straight into my Macbook without any effects lol
Yup, an extravagant hat tip to you for that! That number takes a lot of stamina. I've avoided it like the plague, can't take the misery When I met him a couple of months ago, he seemed sort of humbled and delighted when I told him I knew of at least five people on BC who were trying to get that mother down. It's a bench mark bass line. Well bloody done! I met him a few weeks ago too inspired me to learn it after seeing him play
I met him a few weeks ago too inspired me to learn it after seeing him play Z x

 17.
Nice playing. I felt like you ran out of steam a bit towards the end, but that's just me being needlessly picky. S.P.
I was..haha its one of those songs.. where if you miss one note.. it all seems to go downhill lol Z x
 18.
Kewl! Where's that then? Assembly?
it is Z x
