Indeed, from GreenKing about six months ago, top bloke and an excellent person to deal with.
I thought the Midlands bash was a very special event and would love for Nick to offer to host another one.

I had a play on this EUB at the local jam night, never played anything like this before and loved the sound and the feel.
Anyway, the reason for posting is that the guy pictured holding the bass is the luthier who built it (he also kindly let me strut my stuff on it).

He offered to build one for me for around £600 and I was wondering if this is a good price (I think it is) and I'm very tempted, even though I'd probably never play it in the (rock) band I'm in.
The bass has two P type pups and 3 embedded piezos. Sorry about the grainy pics, only had my mobile with me.

Hi Mikey,

Just thought I'd point out that the right hand bass in the pic is my TRB6II (not a TRB1006).
I had a bit of a noodle on it and thought it's a great bass.

Anyway have a bump on me and good luck with the sale.

I had a Carlsbro Stringray 150W bass amp and 2x15 400W cab in the 80s.
Absolute sh*te, I think the cab went down to about 500Hz

I started playing when I was about 12 and formed a band at school when 15. Seems a loooong time ago I'm 42 now!
Had a long (13 year) gap from playing and took it up again earlier this year, has cost me a fortune so far just can't get rid of the GAS. Only played with a pick until I took it up again (was in mainly punky bands with down-stroke only fast picking).

Play in a band where we do our own stuff, 60% finger-style, 20% slap and about the same with a pic - for the really mental fast stuff we do! Only use a 4 string in the band, Stingray or Ric depending on the song, but I've got quite a collection of basses at home including a 5 string fretless tuned EADGC and a 6 string TRB6 II the neighbours love me :ph34r:

I'm a flash b@stard when I play, always have been and won't stop now - can't resist putting in a fill at every opportunity lol. Never had a lesson, can't read music, had a look at tab but couldn't get on with it; luckily I have good hearing/pitch and can pick things up quickly. I think I used to play better years ago than I do currently. Was once told I played like Billy Sheehan many years ago at a jam night, didn't know who he was at the time. Now more likely to be compared to a Billy Goat :wacko:

I've used Peavey gear, my 29 year old Mark III head died earlier this year but the 2x15 cab is still going strong (donated to the local jam night). I now use a [url="http://www.e-av.co.uk/info.php?id=1587"]Peavey Pro410[/url] cab and love the sound I get with my SWR amp.

I've got a 1978 MkIII head in the loft that blew up a few months back, just gave the 2x15 to the local pub for the jam night. If I was closer, I'd take the amp off you to go with the 2x15 (I'm a regular at the jam night so would make use of it myself). Hi Jim,

The small PSU at the bottom is fixed with Maplin velcro tape, the larger top PSU is fixed with velcro and tie wraps (two holes drilled through the side for each wrap).

For the power strips, I measured the mounting holes on the strips, drilled the top of the rack and used 5mm round head screws/bolts poked upwards. These then had a washer and a 5mm nut added, the screw was then 'pulled' from above and the nut tightened. Once both were tight I Dremmelled the remaining shaft off the screw level with the nut.

Hope this makes sense!

So it looks like the guy flogging these DC Montana basses on eBay has (possibly) set up a website that makes these look like legitimate bargains, when in reality they are cheap junk. Either that, or he's been conned by his supplier into thinking DC Montana is a genuine (and expensive) make.

The only basses I didn't like the feel of (so far) are the ones with a carbon fibre neck - don't do it for me at all.
Don't like the looks of headless basses either, although I nearly bought one recently just for the hell of it.

Then again, what do I know I love my Rick and the rest of my collection :wub:
