1. Hi folks,

A friend of mine is selling a Roland VS-2400CD digital studio. He's was going to start up a mobile recording studio but has now changed his mind and is selling up.

Anyway, he has offered the unit to me at a good price and I'm struggling to decide whether to go for it or not. I play in two bands and think it would be great for recording rehearsals, making demos etc.

What do you think, is this bit of kit an overkill? Will the novelty of lugging it about and connecting it up where off too soon?

Please help me to make up my mind :)

    Pete.

  2. I purchased some Rotosounds from Strings Direct.

They sell the High C .035" separately.

I also bought a set of the half rounds with a separate High C but haven't tried them yet.

  3. There was a thread where one of the Hercules twin stands collapsed damaging a bass.
I can't remember who posted it and it doesn't appear in the results if you search for Hercules, might have been on BW. Anyway, I use two of the Hercules single stands and think they're great.

Thanks for the reply Paul, never had a problem though - guess I'm lucky.

None of these look particularly strong enough for a BMX?...
Was thinking similar here... so, what does a ramp on a bass do?

Keep it, you know it makes sense (will in a few years when it's worth 2x its current value).

My 4003 has also taken a back seat to my Stringray, but it does have its moments and I wouldn't part with it unless I really really had too.

  7.
Option three is much more serious, especially as it requires you to source new capacitors of exactly the same ratings. This is not something to undertake lightly
The ratings need not be exactly the same. Similar ratings (+/- 10% maybe more in my opinion) would suffice. Different replacement types will even work without a major change of tone (ie. polycarbonate/polyester instead of ceramic). However, make sure the voltage rating of the replacement is at least as high as the existing cap especially for electrolyic/tantalum bead and ensure polarity sensitive components are correctly polarised.

    Pete.

PS. I would change the capacitors first not last, especially if the amp is aging a bit.
    PPS.
It's time consuming and there's no guarantee it will fix the problem
+1 on that but won't hurt to do so!

  10. Thanks for this thread, a good reason to listen to some RHCP.

If anyone can help the plight of us poor unrecognised and underrated bassies, Flea can  but don't go calling the poor bloke for overplaying! Fret w*nkers tune an octave higher than us, don't forget that :)
