1. Sorry to say that it is time to move this beauty on, far too good a bass for me to thrash around on! I think it is from 1990, the serial number is 2590593, so correct me if I am wrong. For that age this bass is in an excellent condition, no serious dents and just the usual swirls from regular use. The wood finish is stunning, so much so that I was advised by the previous owner that it appeared on the Zon stand at the NAMM show. I also have a brochure from the period which shows this actual bass. The brochure comes with the bass. It is per the Zon catalogue:- 34" scale, phenolic finger board, Polyfusion ZP-2 active pre amp and specially designed Bartolini dual coil pick ups. Width at nut is 1 and 7/8 and there are 24 frets. That's the technical stuff. There has been a modification, at what stage I don't know, but it has been fitted with kneck side lights which I think are supplied by a second battery. The job would convince me that it had been added from new, and work perfectly. Great range of tones with a fantastic sound, and great quality B string. It comes in a usable Hiscox case (one clip is a little floppy but works fine). I will include delivery in the UK for this price, but will not ship out of the UK. Meet up within a reasonable distance is preferred, or you can come to sunny Bournemouth to try the bass. Paypal fees will be extra - sorry! Any thing else, please ask. I'm sure Michael Manring will have a clip on You Tube, as I'm afraid I haven't. Cheers, Graham
2. Now sold, not on this site I'm surprised to say. Thanks for looking.
3. Hi Jassbass, Yes still available, waiting for a discerning owner. Graham
4. Another bump, because I can't find it any more on here!!! 😂
5. Martin bought my much loved G&L L5500, and what a smooth deal. Turned up at my door with cash in hand, what more could you ask for? Knows his birds too! The perfect buyer, thanks again Martin.
6. This is selling tomorrow, will confirm when completed.
7. Sorry to see this one go. I had both this and the current L2500 model at one time and preferred to keep this one and sold the newer one. It is loaded with EMG pickups which sound completely different to the G&L pickups, deeper bass and more hi fi. The neck is chunky, small hands might struggle. It's from the late 1990's and I had it refinished black, which is an OK job, but there are swirls and one or two very minor dents as one would expect from a bass which is around fifteen years old. There were only around 500 of these made, I believe. Very comfortable on the shoulder. I always think it feels like a 35" scale, but it is certainly 34". It has a 9volt active pre amp and the controls are volume, pickup pan and bass/treble stacked. Nice maple fingerboard. G&L hard case included, has one chrome domed foot missing. Any questions please ask. Collect from Bournemouth area, or carriage and Paypal fees extra. 8. Ps BGM, great job again, but suggest any stands in the foyer outside the doors to the theatre and masterclass room are not allowed live demos whilst the "performances" are on. Don't want to hear someone doodling ad nauseum whilst trying to hear the genius that is Michael Manring (etc.). Apart from that - great!
9. My third year, and just as enjoyable. Something for everyone. Managed to escape with just another excellent strap from AGS, but have committed to a John East upgrade for my Mike Lull. I had to get up a bit sharp to travel up from Bournemouth to see Michael Manring at 11.15 am, but it was certainly worth it!! Have seen plenty of you tube videos of him, but live he's even better - absolutely stunning. A nice surprise performance from Adam Ben Ezra at the other end of the day, completely unknown to me, but very interesting and varied techniques on the upright bass. Sorry I didn't say hello to anyone, the only person I did know was up on the Saturday. I must be the only person without a picture of Dave Swift, but here's a small collection to whet your appetite for next year. 10.
Well, that's me out then - 1949 - unless someone knows of one.
I'm 1945, so it looks like double basses for us then! 😂
11. Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but when a bass is sold/withdrawn could it be then transferred to another thread? How about also showing the asking price and number of strings in the heading as a condition of posting?
12.
My basses get better when other people play them
Funny, thought that just happened to me!
13. Maybe I've got out of bed on the wrong side this morning, but ads trying to sell basses with the body on the right of the pics, and any logo or other writing upside down, just look plain wrong to me. Surely the advertiser can see that their pride and joy is not displayed to its best effect? OK, I'll go back to bed now! 😡😡😡
14. Take another look sort of bump, for a true bargain!
15. Well you can thank him from me. I have no idea how to a: film myself playing, b: post it to you tube.
16. http://youtu.be/aOMW_T1rJ7s Excellent you tube link, sort of bump!
17. Yes, this is still available. Let me know if you need any more info. Cheers Graham
