Well, here's my absolutely random list of memorable odd noises:

Big Country's Stuart Adamson yelling 'Shaah!' all over the place, never mind the bagpipe guitars

Space noises and nasal keyboards on 'Telstar'

Revving motorcycle Sfx on 'Leader of the Pack'

The chink of metal on metal - XTC's 'Towers Of London' (was it?)

Wung-wung-wung-wung-wung-wung-wung-wung noise at the start of Zeppelin's 'Black Dog'

Spoof radio ads on 'The Who Sell Out'

Ringtone at start of Blondie's 'Hanging on The Telephone'

Bizarre spoken voice on Peanuts Wilson's 'Cast Iron Arm' - "So I hit him in the head"

Tribal ritual Sfx on The Cadets 'Lost in the Jungle'

Ian Anderson's flute work
+ Bo Diddly's tremolo and pick scraping bottom E at the start of 'Roadrunner'?

Exactly the same here. :D . So I just gave it a go, and imagined I'd get clubbed down for exactly that.
OK then, I'll give it a go again. There are no fees.

Pas mal, mon brave!

And that's about the limit of my foreign language knowledge, apart from loads of swear words in French, German and a bit of Maltese.

Also I learnt "Noch ein Bier, bitte", "Wo sind die Maedchen?", "Zehn litres Benzin, bitte" - very useful when touring the Ruhr Valley!

Sorry Jazzneck, I deleted it thinking no-one in his right mind would've seen it ... and it seems I was right.
Just thought I wasn't writing funny enough, see.

Done - but I had a struggle trying to work out which were verbs, adjectives and nouns. :D
Please feel free to correct accordingly!

4. In the interest of fully complying with Health and Safety legislation whilst researching the effectivenes of the Mattress / Speaker Jobby, I will be attaching the following to our bedroom door:

5. Good morning all.
Right then, I've now considered the question posed.
From a major observation just after waking up this morning I can state categorically that a Slumberland spring loaded, memory foam King Size mattress (80" x 72") performs well as a larger rectangular speaker.
Upon breaking wind whilst laying in bed at daybreak, I noted that there was a massive amplfication of the sound caused by the mattress coil springs vibrating and the bed frame resonating in sympathy as the the vibrations were transfered via the taught mattress cover (the tightly fitted bottom sheet may also have assisted this transfer).
All frequencies were amplified with a preponderance for mids and bass to blast through.
The room was filled with sound.
A noticeable extra was that there appeared to be uncalled for backing vocals from the missus along the lines of "Oh no, not again, do you have to?. :o
There was also a strange smell of rotten cabbage a few moments after.
My conclusion so far is that this idea of a large rectangular mattress / speaker may do the jobby as well.
I will continue with my research and keep you posted.
(now off for my purile sh*t, shower and shave). :)

6. Strewth this is getting technical, or as my old boss used to say, "Bullsh*t Baffles Brains and I ain't got no brains".
I'm off to bed now to refresh and will consider the air movement, sensitivity, coil and magnet requirements along with the heat dissipation questions in the morning.
Goodnight all. :)

7. 8 x 10 = 628ish sq. ins.
1 x 80 = 5025ish sq.ins. and likely to need a humungeous magnet and cab.
Frig it - wouldn't bother, likely to be too heavy, unless I could afford a roadie.
But imagine it built in to the wall of the back of the stage - you could nail yourself to the floor and, BOOM, blow the punters clean out of their cotton socks and seats straight through the exit doors backwards without their feet touching the ground.
Now that would be a show, wouldn't it?

Mcvie - 20 years old, using a Fender Precision through a Marshall 50W head and small cab.
Lucky enough to see him live many, many times right through from Clapton era Bluesbreakers to post Green Fleetwood Mac.
My major inspiration (if you hadn't gathered that already). :D

9. I may have got the wrong end of the stick in that you inferred that you had listened to a lot of the older blues.
If you haven't then all of like wot I said before plus:
All Chess and Checker stuff
All of the Louisiana / New Orleans stuff through the 1950s/60s (Dr. John etc.)
BB King - Blues is King album (Live recording with Louis Satterfield on bass)
And you probably won't believe me, but John McVie when he was with John Mayall ("Beano" album with Eric Clapton) and the Peter Green era of Fleetwood Mac.
Duck Dunn too, of course

'The blues' covers quite a wide range of differing styles and feels.
.......his bass player (Tommy Lee Shannon) is a class act.

Last tip. Less is more.

Sorry Len, I agree re: Tommy Lee Shannon.

+10G for your last tip.
Space and more space is your friend.

12. Derek Trucks (Oteil Burbridge), Robin Ford (Roscoe Beck) Fabulous Thunderbirds (Keith Ferguson and Preston Hubbard)......
Do not listen to "SRV, the new Walter Trout album, Joe Bonamassa" and even worse Gary Moore - as you say, w*nkers all!
