1.
The bridges around 1994-95 had bolts in place of the string mute/spring/thumbscrew assembly. They can be retro-fitted and now with the Classic series they are available again. I bought my mutes/springs from Mark at Bass Direct. The bridge needs to come off to fit them. They cost me all of £25 delivered :)
Thanks man!, :)

found out mine is a 'flea' trans bridge!, or something. no string mutes, but i could install theme simply :)

  4. I have a 94 stingray..

with the older larger style bridge with serial number stamped onto it.
okay, so there are four allen key bolts in front of the bridge saddles, and a small gap underneath the bridge and the body...
am i right in thinking this is where string mutes would go?! there bolts arnt hand adjustable like the other old music man basses ive seen... can some one help me identify if string mutes can be added?
or am i being silly and there just to hold the bridge on securely!

    please help!

  5.
I have dealt with Richard in the past and I can say with 100% confidence he is a decent guy and not a rip-off merchant. If he didn't advertise this bass as a HW1 it would have been because he didn't know it was a HW1, I am sure. So lets stop kicking the man
Everyone is nice on bass chat?! :)
I'll keep hush in the future! didn't mean to upset anyone.
sorry everyone, am i now going to be famous for being nasty? i have a topic with my name on it! :/

  6.
For Some :)
Didn't mean to upset/annoy/course controversy toward you. just letting you know that your bass was a highway one.
pop it on eBay, and you will get a decent amount for it. just not bass chat, because the fender geeks know a lot on hear!!!
    sorry.

  7.
Sorry man, I cant stand rosewood boards, dont like the sound or looks of them. Though on a black bass it looks great, good luck with the sale/trade of it.

Nope would only be looking for a trade for something maple, and fenderish :)

Also I'm based down in Portsmouth, I think I am one of the only few down that far south!
im based down south! :)

  8.
Comments about the exact model or the official name of the colour are all fine, but comments on the pricing, even if you have legitimate concerns that it may be on the high side, are contrary to the rules of the forum. Just, FYI.
Okay, just not good, seeing honest people being ripped off.

  9.
I may be a bit off the pace here - but I've got a MIM standard Jazz in midnight wine, and it isn't that colour! Satin or roadworn or frenzied attack with sandpaper, mines darker by miles..... Or perhaps someone lied to me me when they sold it to me as midnight wine!!! :)

    C
MIM midnight wine is different to the hw1 midnight wine!, dont worry no one lied to you :)

  10.
Hi Robert how do you know it is a Highway1
trust me.. its a HW1. nitro finish (the lovely thin lacquer that wheres in like that)

    its not stung through body

its has a skunk stripe on rear of neck

the truss rod adjustment is on the top of the headstock

    there tuners are mexican

its one of the older HW1's without graphite support in the neck, and baddass bridge.

trust me.. I HAVE A HW1 AND AN AMERICAN STD :)

    and im a fender geek!

but still its really nice!, just a little on the cheeky price side of things!
