Well today I popped into Brighton to pick up my new Barefaced Compact after work today. Alex showed me around his new workshop/empire, where different cabs were in various stages of production - from bare ply carcasses to finished products. I had the pleasure of hearing a Big Twin T in action, through the Avalon U5 and QSC power amp. A cracking effortless sound indeed.
He also showed me some new things in the pipeline - there's some very interesting stuff coming up
I find it encouraging that Barefaced seem to be moving forward and increasing their product range. Alex is a focussed and interesting chap and has some great ideas coming up.
Anyway, looking forward to gigging the dual Compact stack at the weekend...
Cheers

We say 4 ohm minimum for a reason.... ;-)
And there endeth the lesson Well, talk about getting advice from the horse's mouth! Any experimental thoughts of combining 8 and 4 ohm cabs with my Ashdown Heads have been dispelled.
And Mr Ashdown Engineering, I've been using my MAG600 head for a few years and never had a single problem from it - and it never fails to impress. My newly acquired ABM appears to be just as good so far. After a brief foray into the world of Ampeg, I'm sticking with what works for me. And I definitely don't want to turn either into a smoke machine lol.

Hi all
Has anyone taken the plunge and used their MAG or ABM head at less than the recommended min of 4 ohms? I currently have two 8 ohm cabs but am pondering using an 8 and a 4 together. Just curious really...

Ooh I like that one for sure... very interesting What's the Roland setup next to it? Is it the D Bass 115 with the 115x powered extension? Any good?

Afternoon all...
I know they have only fairly recently been announced, but has anyone come across one of the new Vintage V4's with the Maple fingerboard? I have a Rosewood V4 and these new ones sound (hopefully!) interesting...

Well bumpety-bump the Micro VR is still available for the princely sum of £150, plus whatever postage is needed. Am willing to meet within reasonable distance.

My Ampeg PF500 has found a new loving owner in Chimike. A great, and interesting, guy to deal with.

Hi you mention in the ad that you are interested in a trade - anything in particular?

Well I'm back from my travels, and will reply to those of you that PM'd me over the past week. Apologies for the delay, and will reply in the same order they were received.
have a bump on me,
i use a micro VR sometimes and it sounds great
Thanks nomis, and yes its a great sounding amp - I've used it for a couple of fairly 'busy' gigs and it coped easily. I'm sure it's more powerful than the figures suggest!

Right then, Ampeg clear out time I think. In my quest to find the sound I am looking for I have collected a few bits and bobs along the way, but now is the time to liberate some cash for round two lol....
Micro VR Head (TAKEN OFF SALE FOR THE TIME BEING, SORRY) bought earlier this year from GAK in Brighton. A cracking amp really, and certainly louder than it's rated 200W would suggest. It sounds lovely through my Barefaced Compact and Midget. I've used it for practice and a few gigs. In perfect condition with box, manual and kettle lead. I'm after £160 plus postage.
PF500 head (NOW SOLD), only a couple of months old. Another cracker from Ampeg - and through my Compact and Midget, a delight to hear. Again - only used for some practice and a few gigs - including 2 outdoor ones without PA support where it was very strong indeed. In perfect condition and comes boxed, with manual and kettle lead.
I'm away for a week, but will have intermittent access to any messages on here. Basically I won't be in a position to arrange anything until Saturday 3rd September at the earliest I'm afraid. In the meantime I will answer all PM's (assuming I get some lol) as soon as I can. Postage will be agreed with the buyer before sending.
Hoping to get some pics up tonight but cannot guarantee it (suitcase packing comes first so I have been informed!), but both heads are in perfect condition and look just like the pics on the Ampeg website.
Also still have my Amber Ibby SR700 for sale if anyone is interested
Cheers

A couple of more bumpinos then its off to evilBay...

I thought I'd sold this locally, but it fell through at the last minute. Price drop to £350.
Mega beautiful bass, good luck with the sale
Ta Doc, she needs a good home where someone will play with her more I am at the moment.

Doh! Apologies for the sideways pictures, silly me!
Geoff -
Well I never would have thought it but up for sale is my immaculate Ibby SR700 with matching Ibby hard case.
Bought from Bonners in December 2009, I've used it for practice and gigs. Stunning range of sounds, beautiful slim fast neck and perfect balance makes it a joy to play.

It really is unmarked and had new Elixirs about 3 months ago.
OK, so first post edited. I think as Fender MIM goes, this seems to be a nice example. Certainly seems fine to my hands anyway.
Come and try it out. I am in Nottingham.
Offers welcomed. £260?????
Couple of questions for you...
Is it in the same immaculate condition as advertised in the original for sale thread?
And are you interested in anything in particular trade-wise?
Cheers
Geoff -
Tom,
Unfortunately that's not my plan at the moment, to be honest. The Compact brings me much happiness and it's the Midget that I'd ideally like to change if I can - perhaps for another Compact even lol. That would be a nice stack indeed.
Cheers
Geoff -
Oh blast and double blast. Its a non-T with the metal grill!
I'm really only up for a trade at the moment to be honest, if the right thing comes up (and a PF115 is interesting to me). I also have a Compact and am keeping that for now - unless I am persuaded otherwise lol.
Anyway, if a swap for my Midget is out of the question, then I really hope you move the PF cab soon. I've had a some contact re the Midget, so may follow one of those up.
Cheers
' post='1330318' date='Aug 6 2011, 08:36 PM']Hi Geoff,
Nope not daft questions, fully understandable.
The attachments and casters are all there, I think they may actually come with the head but I've not problem including them.
Secondly, I'm selling it because it's just not quite the sound I'm after. There's no issues, just issues in my head! It's very good at what it does but I'm very (very) fussy and it's just not the sound I'm after in my head. So, when I'd decided that it didn't have that particular sound I tried to take it back, and now I've ended up here!
Hope that answers it for you!
Tom
Thanks Tom, totally understand about the 'sound' thing you talk about. As for the fixings - I have a PF500 and none came with it so I assumed that they either came with the cab, or had to be purchased separately. And sorry to hear you got caught out by a returns policy like that.
Ok, so my next question - I see you've mentioned you are after a possible trade for a Barefaced cab: anything in particular in mind? I have a Midget that I am considering liberating to a new home....
Cheers
Geoff -
Probably a couple of daft questions, but here goes anyway...
Does the cab come with casters and necessary fixings for attaching a PF head?
Secondly, may I ask why you are selling it? I assume it's not meeting your expectations somehow?
Cheers
Geoff
