Depends on the model and obviously what sound you're after. For an ABM – I always start with the following, and make small adjustments to compensate for the room
Disable the “shape” button (button pressed in) and the compressor (if there is one).
    Bass @ 10oclock
    Mid: @ 12oclock
    Treble @ 2 oclock
Bump the all the sliders very very slightly
A tiny bit of sub octave (just because its there)
Healthy amount of gain and drive.
Crank it up and rock out.
    [/quote]
Most of the above, but I also found that boosting the 180hz slider gave me some nice low mid punch without low end being overbearing. I do something similar with my Trace heads.

Sub, Drive and Compressor was EVO III so it won't be an early one, it'll be some weird special run of some sort from a few years ago. I saw a black-panelled one with brushed aluminium knobs earlier this year, that was called a Klystron too IIRC.

I had a 500w Klystron like this, it was basically an ABM in a bigger, heavier wooden case with lots of emptiness inside. The black fronted ABM with brushed knobs was a limited edition tart up jobbie that Ashdown put out for a short while a couple of years back.

  3. That's great to hear. Open mic nights can be a lot of fun, and a great way to meet other musicians and play with them.
My band hosted a few and they could either be empty or oversubscribed, or in between. Although we did once have an MP turn up and sing a few songs with us.
And Johnny B Goode is a fun song.
    Cheers
    Geoff

Yet another possibility is a faulty speaker cable - Hartke heads have short circuit protection built in which will cut the output if it trips...

Have you tried the head with different speaker cables and cabs? Does the problem happen with just one particular cab/cable? Could be an issue in the cab causing the short circuit protection to trip. Maybe.

Looking forward to a comprehensive summary of your thoughts, once you have had a chance to give it a workout.

About 2 quid will buy you a European to uk mains adaptor. I'd get one of those until they can sort you the proper one out.

A watt is a watt. If you want to do the same with 100w SS as you can with 100w valve use a compressor.

And that's exactly what I do with my puny Trace Elliot 200watt head, into kappalite drivers.
