1.
Hi J, Those are some neat tunes (especially Borderline) and very good recordings too! Thanks for sharing it. I really like the sound of the bass in it. I am going to give a serious think about it. Cheers, Vic.
Cool Vic. If you're in North London, feel free to come round and have a play if you like. I'm in Hoxton and make a decent cuppa. J
 2.
Don't think I could afford the cash price unless I sell one of my basses to raise more funds. I am not too familiar with Overwater basses. Are these single coil PUPs? In terms of the sound, how close (or far) would this one be to a Fender Marcus Miller (MIJ) Jazz bass? (I know that it is a bit of a stretch - the only thing I see in common is the Maple fretboard.)

to me... i dont know much about overwater basses tho... but there's nothing that seems comparable to me in those basses....
Trying to describe tone is never an easy thing but what I would say is that the Overwater certainly doesn't sound like a jazz bass. The pick-ups themselves are a dual coil humbucking design wired in parrallel I'm guessing; very modern and transparent tone that doesn't colour ones sound. Just a great sounding bass really and the maple board does give it a sharp snap when slapping. Combine that with the bright boost function by pulling up the treble control and you'll be funkin' for Jamaica in no time Unfortunately I don't have any sound clips but I did use it on a recording session recently enough which might give an idea of how it sits in a mix. 3.
It's a long shot, but I don't suppose I could interest you with my Stingray plus a bit of cash?
I'm really looking for a fretless. Cool finish on that ray though. Good luck with your sale. J
 4.
Damn, I had a Shuker 6 FL on sale till last month! No FL to offer now Is there a sale price for this bass?
A Shuker fretless would have been ideal. In terms of a selling price, I'd be looking for around £950 which would include a hiscox case. Although, looking at the selling price of some other Overwaters at the moment, I'd be hard pushed to get that. J.
 5. If anyone has a Status fretless collecting dust somewhere, hit me up.
 6.
Oh Blimey! PMd...
Pm replied to sir.
 7. Hi guys, Since getting a new ACG, the Overwater isn't getting much attention so I'm looking to trade it for a fretless. The Overwater itself is in close to mint condition save for the smallest of marks on the headstock. No marks on the body and everthing else is in perfect working order. In terms of trades, I'm pretty open. My preference would be for a lined 5er with a 34" scale neck but any kind of fretless may be of interest. The full specs are:

Walnut body
Burl alder top
3pc maple neck
Maple fretboard
Overwater pick-ups and pre (the Overwater pre's are made by John East and the pick-ups are wound by Aarron Armstrong)
Ebony playing ramp (fitted by the Bass Gallery in London and is detachable)
24 fret
Hipshot tuners and bridge
The pre is a 3band and there is also a bright boost function which is accessed by pulling up the volume knob. Any questions, let me know. I'm based in London. Cheers, J.
 8. Sure is. Cheers Sam. Happy playing
Sold!
9. Would also be open to part trades for mainly other EBS pedals- I'd be interested in anything besides what I alraedy have which is Dynaverb Mulitidrive Auto Q Octave I'd be evry interested in an ebs wah. Try me with what you have.
 10. Price drop! £160 incl. postage. Anyone tempted?
 11. I've had nothing but good experiences when I've spoken to both Alex and John and especially Martin when I've gone there. I actually asked the very same question as the OP about trying the Wal a few weeks ago. Alex said they had been asked specifically by the owner of the Wal that they try and reduce the amount of people trying it. Since it was on commision, the guys at the Gallery had to try to accomadate what the seller wanted. Not an easy position for Alex to be in I'm sure as he's the one who has to decide who to let try out the bass. And granted he may not have approached the situation with the greatest amount of tact when speaking to the OP. In fact, I actually just dropped off a bass for a set-up this evening and in the work shop, Martin was speaking to Dave Swift (the bass player for Jools Holland). John was there as well and both were engrossed in conversation with Mr Swift. John noticed me at the door, invited me in and we chatted about the set-up. I wasn't left standing at the door way waiting for the 'big name' to leave. Fantastic service for everyone including the man off the street in my experience. I don't think I've ever had such greater customer service from any store, guitar or otherwise than when I've visited the Gallery. Also, Dave Swift is a massive bugger!
 12. Up for sale is an EBS Micro bass II- Used as a practice set-up through headphones and has only seen bedroom use so is still in mint condition. This is a superb bit of kit and I always intended to use it as a D.I. but I've picked up a T.C. head which covers that and also has an headphone jack so the microbass is a little surplus. It's the whole package really which includes channel switching, DI & preamp all in one box; it has a headphone socket for silent practice, effects loop, tube simulation, the works. SOLD http://www.bass.se/2009/microbassII.htm Unfortunately, the original box and adaptor went awol during a recent house move but I still have the manual. Happy to answer any questions. All the best, Jason.
