Worth listening to the end.

Is it just me that thinks the octave effect on bass is really poor or am I missing something. It is really the only effect I don't rate.

Just to lend a hand.

Hi
Yes I got your mail and replied assume you got the reply.
My comment above was in no way aimed at you it was in response to the Tvrtastic. -
Thanks very much for suggesting a way to buy my pickups that does not include me. Aaron does not sell my pickups because they are exclusive to me and as pointed out they are non standard sizes so unless the original poster wants to go to the trouble of getting a former made up he can't just get Aaron to wind something.

I have been contemplating the following for a while but not being much of a guitar player I was hoping for some insight from the forum.
Using a program called Fret Find it is possible to draw up various different fret layouts. I use this program to make fret templates for normal fret setups.
So one of the options is to make the bridge the perdendicualr fret which in turn lets you use a normal bridge which seems like a good idea to me. However it does change the layout of the frets compared to what would be regarded as a normal fanfret. So the question is does the layout I am suggesting work for you as a guitar player.
I have attached a picture of the fret layout. This particular fan is 26.5 to 25".
Thoughts would be appreciated.

If you want flat. Turn the upper rings on everything to zero. And turn the lower rings on stack two and three all the way up. That is as close to flat as the preamp will do.
-
It is just a Toné control for each pickup. Set up the tone you like on each pickup and use the blend to move between them. You can ignore if you wish the upper knobs on the second and third stack the first stack being the volume and blend. . Set the upper ring to zero on the final stack and ignore that stack completely. Then all it is a volume/blend Toné and Toné. Once you have that sorted out all the upper rings on the second and third stack make the tone control more pronounced. The final stack is basically a treble boost. Set the frequency with the lower ring boost with the upper. But it works perfectly well just using the second and third stack lower ring. It behaves just like a passive bass with a Toné control for each pickup.

You could change the preamp.

Second hand Kompakt 6 available.

Change to the pickup spec in that the neck now has a single coil in it and the switch is a 3 way instead of the usual 5 way. I am not selling the guitar but will be happy to put you in touch with the owner. Hopefully this will be OK with the mods if not let me know.

That will be down to the increased paperwork and administration related to the importing and exporting of Rosewood. I know even without any CITES woods in an instrument my paper work to send anywhere outside the EU has gone up considerable.

For what it is worth I really liked that one.

As of tomorrow this will be down to the last day of the auction.

Nice work.

Hi Bass Apprentice.
You're right. It's for someone who isn't afraid to think out of the box just a tad. I've had the usual fare Yamaha, Fender, Gibson so not going to criticise anyone staying safe.....but some people pay extraordinary money for ACG, Fodera, Alembic etc etc and John Deacon mostly used a standard Precision.£200 buy you what in basses these days?
Many thanks for your help.

Wish I was even in the same ballpark as Foders and Alembic
