1. Hi Razz I'd check out the Sony MDR-7506's. They are 'closed' over-ear headphones and are fantastic. If you Google them you'll see many glowing reviews and they also fold down for easy storage. They can be picked up from Amazon for about £70. Should be just what you're looking for if you don't want in-ear 'phones. There's also a review of them in Sound on Sound magazine (online) along with the next model up (MDR-7509's) B
2. Bought a G&L L2000 Tribute off Tom for a very fair price. The bass was exactly as described and plays beautifully. It arrived next day after sending and was very well packaged. Kudos to Tom. If I was buying anything bass related in the future I'd have a check to see what Tom was selling first before looking elsewhere. An honest, pleasant and efficient guy to deal with. Many thanks Tom
3. I'd just like to say that Chris May (head honcho at Overwater) PM'd be to find out what the issue was with my delivery problem to ensure such a thing doesn't happen again. The fact that he personally got involved in this just shows what great support I would imagine people can expect from Overwater. B
4.
No PM received?
Sorry Tom, I must have cocked it up. Will message you in an hour when I get home. Brian
5.
Hmm, i'm not sure how a shop giving you bad service can possibly reflect on the product itself ? Just get it somewhere else ?
No, it certainly doesn't reflect on the bass itself but as I'd pre-ordered it I was getting it for £540 instead of £600 and I'd feel cheated if I had to pay £600 now. Also, with hindsight and much perusing of this site, I've seen secondhand basses from reputable posters going for good prices and for £600 I think I could get a secondhand bass I'd be happy with and an amp. Really good site and I've learned a lot just from reading the various threads. Thanks guys B
6. Well I'll no longer by getting my Overwater Aspiration Artist bass. I paid for it in full last Wednesday and, although I'd been told it had been shipped, it's still sitting in the shop. Couldn't be bothered with all the hassle and delay this was causing so asked for a refund. I'm disappointed but I now have nearly £600 to spend on a bass again. This bad order has put me off Overwaters (too much heartache with this failed order) so am thinking of looking at second hand basses from here instead. Take care guys. B
7.
I think you will be happy. The finish on mine (exact same model) is excellent for the price. I took it out to rehearsals last week and it is one funky bass. I play in a soul / funk / R&B band and I used the MM p/u for the funky numbers and then the Jazz p/u where I needed a more rounded sound. The weight is good and it feels substantial. Only thing that I might change is that it comes with light gauge strings which I've not used for a while but I suppose it does give me an alternative to my heavier gauge strings on my Jazz. IMHO, you need to spend a little while with the 2eq to find what you are looking for but after that, it's a real plug and play bass. Enjoy when you get it!
Thanks Floyd I was hoping to get more of a funky sound out of the bass more than anything else (although, ideally, a nice jazz sound and a Musicman style growl would be nice too). Bass still hasn't arrived Apparently there was a cock-up with the delivery and it wasn't shipped when it was supposed to go out. I've now been told I can expect it tomorrow (fingers crossed as I've taken the Thursday off work to have a play about with it). Really hope the bass is all I want it to be after all this messing about B
8.
I guess you must have it by now. Which model did you get? The amp wait will be a killer, unless you can borrow something. Good luck.
Hi grayn Nope, haven't got it yet They couldn't guarantee next day delivery unfortunately and it's currently in a Leeds service centre. Should, hopefully, get delivered on Monday. I'm getting the Artist model in trans red. It will be a bugger waiting for the amp but I've crippled myself financially to get the bass and there's no way I can get it before the end of the month. I do have a good external soundcard I can plug into though and some recording software so I'll be able to hear it through my headphones/monitors hopefully. As soon as I've got my grubby little paws on the bass I'll let you all know what I think. B
9. Thanks for that grayn; short but sweet. Nice to actually see the guitars actually being played. I'm tracking mine and it's currently in Leeds and should arrive tomorrow . Only need to wait a month and then I can afford an amp too...sigh.
10. Thanks for the review BottomEndian...I've just paid for my Overwater Aspiration Artist and should have it (hopefully) on Friday. I'll be gutted if there are build quality issues on it; I've got a PRS SE guitar that I paid £500 for and the build quality on that is fantastic - I certainly would expect the same from Overwater. Anyway, as soon as I've got the bass I'll post an initial review and then update it in a month or so when I've had a bit of a blast on it. B
11. Although I do appreciate your post, regarding the quality, as I'm buying an Overwater Aspiration Artist on Wednesday...
12. 3 Band EQ??? So where's the hidden knob?
13. Hi Floyd Very interested to hear your views on your new bass; I have the same one pre-ordered from the fantastically helpful people at Musicians Centre. Ead: Thanks for an excellent review. Really enjoyed reading it. This is my first post but I've been following this thread with much interest; thanks to everyone for their contributions. Take care B
