1. No takers? Someone make me a sensible offer or they'll go on evil bay at the weekend!! C
 2.
I'm selling my Stentor Student II 3/4 bass as I'm in need of a larger bass. These come out a little smaller than some other instruments and being 6'2" I'm finding it a little on the short side! Never been a problem up until the last 18 months as it only came out for the odd jazz gig once in a blue moon but since then, I've been playing more upright than electric. So....after recurring back problems (trapped nerves and various other very painful problems) I'm on the hunt for a bass I can play standing as straight as possible!! Details are as follows. I'll get some pictures up in a couple of days as I'm away from the bass at the moment. Stentor Student II 3/4 all solid Strung with Spirocore Medium tension strings (fitted 3 months ago after experimenting with a few other types) Low action, Solid Carved spruce front Solid maple back and sides Ebony top nut Ebony fingerboard Alloy tailpiece Spare adjustable bridge (cut to fit this bass beautifully) not fitted at this time Spare tail wooden (unknown stained hardwood) tail piece Spare tail guts High quality heavy duty gig bag with 40mm padding also water proof (to a degree) which was (£149) Think I've still got a set of Weedwhacker strings I'll chuck in with it too, they were fitted for about 2 weeks but I couldn't get on with them, Its been Gigged and had a few knocks and dings but no cracks or splits and has never had any repairs at all. I'm after around £750 for it. They go for £875 new but then you're looking at another £50 just to have it set up + you've got £300 worth of cover & and strings with it. The bass can be heard here: http://www.goosebumpsmusic.co.uk/audio.html If you go to the videos section there's a clip filmed in the studio which was just the dry monitor mix we had in our cans during recording, you can hear the bass before any production was done. The bass is in Maidstone, Kent if anyone want's to try it. I'm afraid I'm willing to ship it so it's collection only. I might be interested in a trade if someone has a larger similar spec upright, but ideally I want cash for it. I don't always get notifications for things I post on here so if don't reply straight away please bare with me, I'll check back every day or so alternatively you can email me at: [email protected]
I'm selling my Stentor Student II 3/4 bass as I'm in need of a larger bass. 3.
Hi all, Having a bit of a clear out of some bits and bobs and am finally getting round to listing it all. So, I have one set of used Thomastik Dominant 3/4 Strings in good condition. They were fitted to a bass I bought at the beginning of the year but `they are far too high a tension for my playing style so they came off straight away. The guy I bought them from reckons they were fitted for the sale so they were as good as new when I got the bass. I'm not after much for them as I don't have any use really so I'm looking for £70 inc p&p to UK Mainland, if they've gotta go elsewhere then please get in touch & I'll work out a price. Or if you're in the Kent area and want to collect them from Maidstone, I'll take £5 off the total price. Pictures to follow in the next day or so :-) Cheers, Chris
Just dug these out to take pics and had forgotten that I replaced the D string as it had broken but I never fitted the new string. So, this is still sealed in it's packet as new. Despite this, I'll keep the price the same. C :-)

 5. Brilliant, thanks so much folks. Sorry I've not responded sooner, been away on tour and not long been back and to honest, this had slipped my mind until I saw a reminder I had left for myself in the shop! While I was away the customer came back in to see our tech about modifying the bridge. While he was in he took a shine to a second hand Ricky we had in stock & px'd his bass for it. We've since modded the bridge & sold the bass on= problem solved :-) Thanks again everyone Chris
 6.
Stagg bass strings have smaller, guitar sized ball ends. D.
Thanks for that I'll have a look :-)
 7. Hi all, I've had a customer come in to my shop after a set of bass strings that have a smaller ball end! He has a bass with an inset bridge (brand and model unkown at this time) that has too small an appature to accomodate the usual Ernie ball/Rotosound/D'addario/Elites size ball ends! Just wondering if any of you good folk have had a similar issue and can offer any suggestions for alternative strings. I can order in most brands so getting them shouldn't be a problem, I just can't get loads of different types in simply for him to try! I'd really appreciate any suggestions, my customer has said he doesn't want to make any alterations to the bridge unless it's an absolute last resort. Cheers all, Chris Cassar
 8. Mattias is a lovely guy to deal with, true to his word with great communications. I'd have no qualms about dealing with him over and over again. If anyone has any doubts about buying from or selling to him....you really shouldn't have!!! Chris :-)
 9. Am now selling this through the music shop I work in http://www.musicmattersuk.co.uk/cgi_bin/sh...#aJDSNMK2CASSAR If anyone has questions please get in touch with the shop via the "contact" form or [email protected] I'm doing this as I won't be around very much for the next few weeks so they can handle the sale & everything else. Shipping can be arranged to pretty much anywhere, please get in touch first so a price can be quoted. If I'm doing wrong by posting a link to a business or something like that, please let me know & I'll just remove my topic. Thanks all, Chris :-)
 10.
Chris, quite possibly you are crazy...! This is too nice to sell!! I sold 4 basses recently but I still have 12 instruments left; couldn't part with them as they all got their thing... I reckon you should keep, and be patient for an EUB. What make you looking for (those Steinbergers have too many dots!!)? I use an old Aria, and it's not bad. That said, nothing beats the creaky old sound of an acoustic. Irrespective - viewing types; Chris is a top bloke to deal with so you can buy without worry.
Hey Steve thanks for your post. Yeah I'm starting to think I might not let it go for now. I'm after a one of the Yamaha silent basses, have looked at the NS CRs too but would prefer a Yammy. Would always rather use an acoustic upright but for some of the gigs I'm doing this year, i could do with something ultra portable. Hmmm... I'll see what happens!!
 11.
PM'd you matey.
PM'd back and emailed :-)
 12.
Bit like buses - don't see one for ages and then two come along together - fine bass - had much interest other than "nice bass...don't see these very often.."?
Ain't that the truth! When I was looking for one of these a few years ago I couldn't find one anywhere then the day I bought this one I had a call from a dealer saying he'd tracked another one down! Always the way!! Have had some nice offers of trades but I'm after an EUB so need the cash-which seems to be short in supply for a lot of people at the moment! Would rather not sell this but hey, needs must & all that!! Chris
 13. Bump for a fellow Jaydee owner who's trying to sell!!
 14. Gonna give it 'til the weekend then put this on EBay so if anyone's interested in a cash buy or trade let me know asap :-)
 15.
Would you consider a trade of some kind for a Warwick Streamer LX 4?
Hi, Thanks for the offer...that's a lovely bass, always been a fan of Warwicks. Ideally I want cash for it unless someone's got a nice EUB to trade as that's what I'm shopping around for next! Thanks again though, good luck with selling it although I doubt it'll hang around long! Cheers, Chris
 16.
This chap comes up in Hythe - http://www.chrismcneilly.co.uk/
Can personally recommend Chris. He's done my upright for me in the past & it will be going back there soon for an overhaul. Does great work & is pretty reasonable but can be a bit slow at times. Nice guy too!!
 17.
Can someone tell me what a Jaydee sounds like. Thanks
Despite what some might say I've always found Jaydees to be fairly versatile. They of course do the whole Mark King sound which is a bit different to J&P basses & all your usual suspects anyway (whether you want that or not?!), you'll also get a convincing Alembic/Stanley Clake sound as well. Play around with the EQ & use the neck PU & you can get a reasonable P bass growl, click on to the bridge PU & it gives you more nasal honk than you'll ever need & a great bright punchy tone that'll cut through most band situations nicely- particularly good for lead stuff, very Jaco-esque. Would suggest listening to any Level 42 stuff to give you an idea of that classic Jaydee sound, have a look on YouTube & you'll probably find done people demoing them. If you're particularly interested & want to hear mine I'll record some clips & email them or something! Hope that helps a bit, gimme a shout if you want to know more or want sound clips :-) Chris
 18.
Nah, that's pearlescent green, probably the rarer of the four standard pearl colors.
Yeah you're right it's the Pearlescent green. It's quite pale so difficult to capture properly. Will do some in natural light when I get a chance!!
 19. New pics added, more to follow, please ask if you want to see anything specific :-)
 20. Thanks for your comment. I wasn't sure what it exactly it was when I bought it so emailed John Diggins with pics & serial number. He provided me with the age and model details. I know there have been instruments made later with earlier body shapes & all that kinda thing, guess that's what you get with quirky custom build instruments like these :-)
