When it "settles down" does it snap back to normal volume or does it fade back to normal volume gradually?

It can be difficult to navigate the bass market. I certainly made mistakes when I was new and didn’t know what to look for. Over time, you pick up what to look for and especially on basschat, you get to know the reliable names (if not faces!).

I think your biggest tool is the bass chat market place. If you see a deal that appeals to you, try and compare as like for like as possible to sold items in the marketplace. The search function is your friend. I’ve always found the marketplace a good indicator of fair pricing.

Try your best to not be sold by the sellers sales pitch. Good instruments find a way of selling themselves at fair prices. Anything priced low should be as off putting as something priced high.

And yes, +1 to “don’t pay for other people’s upgrades” is generally a good rule to live by.

I previously had a passive TT4 with Hausell pickups and it was a classic jazz tone only a bit bigger sounding!

Good shout on the white! I think you did well to narrow itself down to 2 options!

I could probably stomach grabbing an Electra and putting new electronics in it, but I don't think I could live with myself pulling the trigger on a California knowing id want to replace parts on it immediately.

tracked a new one down (specific older model with maple fingerboard) at bass direct and it arrived yesterday. 

 

Had to fiddle around to sort out a buzzing 10th fret on E string, but sounding superb. 👌 👌 👌 

I super dig the asthetics of these basses, can definitely see myself playing one. Reports are unanimous that they're great to play. They're just not my cup of tea in terms of tone. I'd love it if they did a version that was voiced more traditionally.

Alongside Dimarzio Aeros, these are my fav jazz pickups! I'd have them off you if I had a bass to put them in!

Both haven't left the original packaging except for the photos. I had intended on building a nice 1960s replica jazz bass however life got in the way! Can ship at buyers expense. 

Light home usage, this has been my practice amp for the past few years. In great cosmetic condition and full working order. I had contemplated putting the amp in storage while I relocate but realistically, I don't know how long I'll be gone and would much rather it was being used!

Little Mark III £250

In full working order but not in great condition. It's in the same condition as I bought it nearly 6 years ago on ebay, I purchased as a backup for my LMTube. I've only used it a handful of times. The pictures capture the cosmetic scratches. At some point, the fan has been replaced and not all of the screws have been replaced. I've factored this into the asking price. I've used a laptop case (not pictured) to transport the amp which I will include. 

STD 104 HF - 8ohm  £250

In full working order and in great cosmetic condition. Comes with Roqsolid cover. Got the cab from BassChat at the beginning of 2020, I intended it to be my main gigging cab .... less we say about the last 2 years the better! It's been sat gathering dust since.

I can ship the LMIII at the buyers expense however I'm unsure about the cab due to weight and size. I would much prefer collection or meetup at a reasonable distance from West Yorkshire. Happy to listen to offers for both. 

Everyone has a bass they will always regret selling. I had one of these, same year, in blue. Amazing instrument. Shame I was a poor, unemployed recently graduated young man, it had to go 😭. That said, I'm now full time employed and I still don't have the disposable income haha somethings never change!
