I use this tuning on one of my basses and use Rotosound RS66LE / 50-110's. I also use these on a C-F-Bb-Eb tuning and they work great.
There is a flats equivalent Rotosound RS77LE Jazz Bass 50-110 -

It still seems mad to me that an amp head can weigh more than the cab. Before I got my OTB I had a 4u rack with an Ampeg SVT3,Sansamp RBI and a wireless unit in and used to look forward to carrying the S12.

I find it a bit dispiriting that Alex is getting spat on by some people for what seem like trivial reasons. I'd feel very sad in his place, he's a nice guy.

+1 + trying to make a living out of something he's passionate about and making many, many people happy in the process - not many can say that. -
Sad that didn't work out for you mate.

Love that mate - G&L ASAT written all over it.
No funds or your arm would still be attached to it as I ran down the street.

^^^ what he said! It was on the spec sheet for my S12 - I said I wasn;t up on efficiency ratings etc!

Hi Guys,
Mojo A/B'd with mine last Saturday.
For what it's worth I have Mullard NOS 12AT7wa's in mine. The test was with my G&L L2000 which is hot.
Personally, I didn't hear much difference between the two heads and the break up was more defined with Mojo's past 12 o'clock - which is probably due to the AX7's.
I can only think it's either, the cab - I'm not clued up on efficiency ratings but, I can't see the Schroeder's 103db and my S12's 130db SPL making such a marked difference? I'm open to correction! Could be that it just needs more oompf to drive it, hence the increased settings?
Or, Orange have sorted the hot-issue and calmed the OTB's down internally with the later models?
Either way - If I'd had yours Mojo, I wouldn't have thought anything wrong and probably not have changed the valves either. It seemed on a par with mine and more useable out of the box tbh.
Could it be a preconception of how you think it 'should' sound? Bear with mate, its under warranty - try and get it how you want it to sound, if it does that and no smoke coming out of the toaster - it's working fine! -
After months of convicing a good friend of mine to go Barefaced (he's a stingie, sceptical git!), he ordered a BT2 a couple of months ago and we took a road trip from the Midlands to BF headquarters yesterday to pick it up.
After being at a standstill on the M40 for 90mins! We had a great time being shown the Bass Cave, production process and the new drivers used in the Gen3's by Bobby.
It affirms my belief that I made the right choice 2 years ago and I'm getting an 'I Told You So' tshirt done for when I see my mate next.
This sounds mad but, I've never heard another BF cab except my S12 - I was a bit jealous when I saw the new Super Twin and when I heard the BT2 just having music played through it - they are awesome PA speakers too! But, the thing that impressed me the most was the midget - how they get so much low end out of a box the size of an old-skool portable TV is truely witchcraft - astounding!
We came away with a bit of swag and I got a handle upgrade kit for my S12 - both chuffed and proud to be BF owners.
If you ever get the chance - go! -

Got a pic mate? Our gutarist may be interested.
Cheers. -
I have a set of the brilliant DiMarzio DP122's in a very fetching black colour.
I bought these as a temporary replacement for my 1980's cream coloured DP122's when I had them rewound. They came back within a week and straight back in - 30 years service and still going.
These have been in my P bass for 1 rehearsal - mint, in original packaging and extra wiring thrown in.

I can see the benefit of a heavy head on BF cabs - stops them blowing away on open air gigs!
Also had an EVO But don't miss it now I have the TC.
EDIT: Can you explain about the 3Pro and the S12 not hitting it off?
True, everything else needs nailing down though!
It's kinda hard to explain why, I was getting some over-excursion from the drivers with the SVT3 and it all went a bit farty after a while as the volume went up. Nothing wrong with the amp/Nothing wrong with the cab - just weren't best friends - after contacting Alex @ BF he went on about things in a way only Alex can, (my lack of technical knowledge!) and I decided/was convinced to change the amp. Something about a 'Lead Slab' with the all the valves?!?! LOL
With just the preamp valves in the OTB - it's like the amp breathes; and I was a huge Ampeg fan but, the OTB/S12 combination is righteous - I can't see me wanting to change [s]for a very long time[/s] .... EVER!! -
I had a SVT3Pro and 410HLF.
The 3Pro's are almost too versatile with the preset's and graphic, I was constantly meddling.
When I got my Barefaced S12, my amp rack was heavier than the cab! but, the 3Pro didn't get on too well with the S12 so, I moved to an Orange TB500.
I'm Ok with a bass, mid, treb, vol and gain amp. -

It's always very easy to think that what you have is inferior when a company releases a new model. My Super 12 is still by far and away the best cab I've had. And it IS still a fantastic product. The only reason I'd have to change to a new one is for a little more LF sensitivity so I can run my amp flat. It's not really enough of a reason to upgrade IMO. These things are not like iPhones, they are built to last!

Totally agree, after 2 years I convinced a friend of mine to go BF and he just ordered a BT2 - knowing he'd get a Gen3 model I was quite put out...........until last rehearsal when my S12 reminded me, I may never need another cab. -
I moved from an Ampeg SVT3 and 410HLF to the OTB and S12 - the mids from the S12 are immense and slice through the mix.
-
Barefaced for sure. I love my OTB with it, especially after the valve swap I did to calm the gain down.
Does everything I want, but more importantly, everything I need. -
I pulled my old Laney DP150 head off a stack in 1988 at the old JB's on Dudley - it was a Thursday....
It bounced and sounded even better after! Been wireless ever since.
Started with Nady 101, then a Samson Stage II (which was awesome and still works 20 years later) and I changed to Line 6 after the licencing changes. Never bothered with true diversity either - One Ariel - One Love!
It's great for FOH checks and also jumping about in the crowd during Killing in the Name of..... -
