The rig is just wonderful. Ashdown + Barefaced = perfection in my opinion. Plenty of volume, clarity, balls, bass, roar (not the dinosaur, that’s a bit squeaky in comparison)
Even just the one10 on its own?

Splendid. And how soundeth the dinosaur? And the rig?

I have returned to Ashdown, head at least, after years of Markbass.
Very happy, I used to love my ABM500, now have the 600 and it’s lovely.
I think the woolly comments used to come from people who didn’t disengage the scooped “shape” feature, which sounds poor in my opinion.
yeah so, thumbs up from me.

Slightly odd thread, and I’m fully open to ridicule and indeed welcome it...but...
Has anyone got any images of an Ashdown ABM head mounted upon various Barefaced cabs? BB2, Two10, Super Compact?
Just curious to see how the overhang looks.
Do your worst..

Bought Wayne’s ABM head today. Splendid fellow, met in a car park as is standard practice. Exchanged goods for cash. Stood in the cold for a bit. Came home.
Stongly recommenced.

Great amps. And not really too heavy either. Big full loud sound.

Bingo, I shall proceed thanks all

So, I’ve got an old Yamaha BBn4. A few years ago I took it apart and rebuilt it with GandL Jazz pickups. It’s quite nice, but I noticed recently that one of the bridge screw holes in the body is stripped so the screw won’t tighten properly.
I am intended to do the toothpick and wood glue fix that works for strap buttons, but just wondered if anyone had a better idea?

Nice, if I had £725 I’d be having this. Good luck with the sale.

102hf is Markbass’s best cab in my experience.

Tony is a legend. Sold him an amp, shipped it, he paid. Great comms and a great guy. Deal with confidence

I can heartily recommend this fine fellow. Having arranged a convenient meet up to do the deal we both succumbed to a closed M1 in both directions. Four hours later, having met, I am home. Jack not only travelled further than originally agreed, but also included a nice speaker cable. So, he’s a legend.
many thanks

I've been using my QSC K12.2 and Radial Tonebone pedal for nearly a year now and still loving it. I have mine on a pa stand now and it sits behind our PA so doesn't look unsightly from the front. It means that I can adjust the volume to suit the gig and leave the preamp as is.
I've also managed to get my guitarist in to this as well and he's gone from a big, heavy Blackstar combo to a Helix and Headrush
Excellent work sir.

Actually the PSA 2 looks pretty cool to be fair.

True, but the PSA 2.0 not having XLRs at that price is kind of my point, I think it's quite over the odds compared to other Sansamps (which as you mention are much cheaper) or other preamps that cost >£400 that have way more features and sounds.
The Stomp doesn't strictly have XLRs, but it has two balanced TRS outs which are as good as.
True, and to be fair I could always use my radial Jdi at the end of the chain.
After all these years when all is said and done I now favour simplicity. The stomp was great, but I don’t need that level of features. In the last I’d have bought one just for the sake of it, but these days I just need what works for me. So, when my combo sells I will get either a VT bass DI (maybe the one for sale here), or. BDDI (which I’ve owned in the past and loved) or maybe a bass fly rig, simply as there is a basic compressor in there too.
All these have xlr and jack outs, so makes things super simple.
-
Update - the stomp only has jack outputs and no separate xlr. I want this separate output. SansAmp bddi of vt bass DI will be perfect for the job I feel, and half the price. The helix units are of course excellent but the stomp at least doesn’t fit my needs

do yourself a favour and go try a stomp in a shop. Start with a blank patch and build from there. the flexibility is astounding. If you are doing guitar gigs too then you'll triple it's usefulness.
I’ve tried a stomp. Liked it. But it’s £400 so...good call tho

Well someone needs to mention the elephant in the room so it might as well be me.
Have you thought about in-ear monitors?
Indeed, I actually though it HAD mentioned it....as I do indeed use them sometimes. But some bands I dep with need an onstage sound and don’t have the monitors to cope if I don’t take a cab. Good call tho,

I've not seen any of the flyrig types in real life yet, but the photos do make the knobs look very fragile. Knowing quite a few Sansamp bits, I assume my eyes decieve me! They're usually good quality gear.
It makes sense that the PSA1.1 continues in the line, and as Prymax already have one up at $399, it should be cheaper to get hold of than the original.
I think I must be way off trend at the moment though; while everything, even some power amps, is shifting to a more floor based form, I like rack gear! I went out of my way to get hold of an RPM and VT Rack, and would be interested in a rack GT2, Q Strip, and some of the other now discontinued character pedals. Presumably there isn't much demand for that kind of thing these days!
Not at all flimsy, I’ve gigged guitar fly rigs extensively and they are super bits of kit, solid etc. And sound great to the point that I sold all my amps.

One of the very best combo amps out there.

Thanks, yes it’s very very good. I am sure that if I only played bass then it would be staying. However I gig bass, drums and guitar, so need to keep things as multi purpose as possible, hence wanting to get some of my other stuff to do double duty, that is literally the only reason I will let this go, it is the ultimate combo.

I’m not sure yet to be honest, I can’t work out whether or not I want a tweeter or not. I might take you up on the offer yet, thank you.
Ive compared the sound from the DI (in my studio) with the sound from the cab. The DI sounds clear a flat, in comparison to the mid hump of the cab. That said, this characteristic of the cab may well help with onstage audibility. Alex has recommended the BB2 and I am tempted to agree with him. I’d love to take advantage of the notblackfriday discount but I have no more spare cash right now.
