1. I've overspent on other gear and no income at the mo means a bunch of stuff up for sale. FX wise that means: Xotic Bass BB Preamp Fantastic overdrive / boost pedal in excellent condition. Boxed. £90 SOLD [s]Aguilar Octamizer[/s][s] - awesome [/s][s]octaver[/s][s] - I tried loads and this was the one I had [/s][s]most[/s][s] fun with - clean controls and the filter control on the octave mean you can get it to stand out or sit in the mix as desired. Boxed. £90 (I managed to lose the screw that holds the battery hatch in place - I just used a small piece of tape to keep it shut, was never a problem)[/s] [s]SOLD EBS [/s][s]Bassiq[/s][s] Envelope Filter - again I tried loads and this was the one that was just so easy to dial in [/s][s]an extremely rewarding sounds[/s][s], with plenty of variation from the 3 modes. Boxed. £90 SOLD[/s] Based in Swindon. Collect, meet, or postage at cost. Fire away with any questions.

It has a blue matt finish and is in very good condition (if you want pics of anything specific please just let me know ) It is as-stock with active EQ with centre-detented Bass, Middle and Treble controls, plus volume. Currently strung with roundwound D'Addarios. Case included. Bass is in Swindon, Wiltshire. Can meet within 50 miles for petrol money or post ay buyer's expense. Any questions, just shout :-)
3.
Drop Aguilar an e-mail, their customer service is great, I`ve contacted them a couple of times re spare parts and they`ve replied very quickly advising where to source them from. [email protected]
Thank you - will do
4. This Markbass combo has been well looked after, played at home where it gives a great authoritative and flexible sound. Would hold up to small gigs/rehearsals, particularly with an extension speaker to get the full output. The model specs are here : http://www.markbass....tail.php?id=240 The excellent video review that was in the Guitar Interactive online magazine seems to have gone offline, which is a shame as it gives a very good representation of the amp. I'm based in Swindon and happy to meet up within reasonable distance. [s]Asking £350 Reduced £300 [/s] SOLD Stock shots follow - I can take some of the actual item if anyone needs (it is gloomy now and my phone is naff in low light/flash!) cheers Tim

6. Hi, I've managed to lose the funny screw thing that holds the sliding battery compartment in to an Aguilar pedal - is it possible to get these does anyone know? Tim
7. Trades considered - try me cheers Tim
8. Selling my DV Mark Compressore You probably already know, that the DV Mark Compressore is a MarkBass Compressore, identical internally in every way (the specs on both product pages are identical) with the DV Mark stuff having been given a facelift to be marketed separately to Guitarists. Same great sound and response, just white :-) Mine is in great condition (can get a pic of the actual unit for anyone interested) and comes with its dedicated 12V power supply. Only selling because the postie brought a Cali76 TX in the post today! I work in central London (Shoreditch/Liverpool St) and live in Swindon, or can arrange postage at cost. any questions just shout, cheers Tim
9. Do look at http://www.smorgpedalboards.co.uk too - I know of a couple of people on a guitar forum who have them
10.
I had the compressore, which I thought was great, my favourite compressor ever. I also hated the size and supply issue so got rid of it. I've been through many compressors and have settled on the Aguilar TLC, it's the only other compressor I've ever really been happy with. The lack of metering is a shame but I have learned to use my ear and I don't really miss it. Of the other compressors I've tried, the MXR is the one I'd probably go back to, all those LEDs can be quite handy!! The EBS is ok too, with its one knob compression control.
Thanks mate. Yes the TLC has caught my ear - I'll keep my eye out for one and see how I get on
11. Maybe I'm imagining the problem - is it simple to get the hang of ?
12. Hi, I'm thinking of switching compressors because the Compressore is so darned big and needs its own supply. One thing I find good about it (other than sounding utterly brilliant obv) is the LED that tells you when it's working (i.e. when the threshold has been exceeded and there is gain reduction going on) i've become quite reliant on it for quickly getting things set up with different basses/control selections. Of course by ear is always the best way but I'm wondering if ear-balling it becomes easier? I quite like the look/sound of the Aguilar TLC, but it doesn't have any indication like this. Anyway, interested in other folks' thoughts cheers! Tim
13. I've plumped initially for for a used BB Bass Preamp from the classifieds and will see how I get on Cheers Tim
14.
Yep, i'm the same here. That's the reason why i turned my attention to Yamahas, they have "my tone" straight out without any messing in EQ knobs. The added bonus is that i don't need to shed 2k+ on a bass that will need EQ to sound the way i like. On the OP, for me the playability of a bass is down to a few factors: Weight - it needs to be comfortable Action - Needs a low action to be played without effort Neck profile - needs to fit the hand without it getting tired and allow to play fast lines Electronics - Each to his own, having the right "plug-in tone" will make life easier Overall a bass needs to sound like you want without too much trouble EQing and needs to be comfortable enough to let you play for hours and hours without physical harm to your body. Everything else is just bling to draw attention.
Interesting - thanks
15. Something I've been wondering about - for a standard construction type bass (solid, twin cutaway body, bolt-on neck, fretted, standard scale length, 4 or 5 string, you know your common P/J/MM type affair) how far do we need to go before we stop seeing playability or sonic improvements ? Assume for a moment that whatever the cost/source/sophistication/brand that we are prepared to get a damn good setter-upper to set it up, what is inherent in the way these things are made that mean one price point gets you something inherently and measurable 'better' I'm guessing wood, hardware, pickups, neck profile you like - so when does about a grands worth of Warmoth that's been well set up start to get beat by a <insert brand or luthier here> of similar standard construction ? Or does it? Or does the slope level off much further down the price range than that? Interested to hear people's thoughts or experiences... ta Tim
16. I've not been using this recently - had previously used it to get guitar and bass in to my iOS devices - works brilliantly. I don't have any of the packaging, just the unit itself and the lightning cable used to attach it to an iPhone or iPad. It's also got some of that fine paint spatter on the outside you get when you painted the ceiling and it was left out (ahem) but in perfect working order. [s]£40. [/s] Sold
17. Another vote for Sonicport here - works brilliantly, I used it with Garageband, Auria, Jamup
18. Right then, if it's still there when my bits and bobs sell I shall have it, and begin the journey...
19. Thanks all so far ! Yes I've been down the 'modestly'priced'multifx' route back in the day as a guitarist and it's really not for me. Fewer, quality, one-knob-one-function pedals are what make me happy. I already have an EBS Bassiq, Aguilar Octamizer, Markbass (actually DV Mark but it's identical inside) Comrpessore and happy with those - looking for a dedicated overdrive unit to 'finish' the set. That Source Audio does look interesting, will do some googling. A friend has recommended a Vintage Microtubes Deluxe I saw a demo of the Xotic BB Bass Preamp which seemed ok. As a wise man above said, I probably just need to pick something and begin the never-ending cycle...
20. Good point. Budget is open - just nothing vintage/collect able Thanks
21. Seems like a popular topic :-) My situation is that I recently sold my roundwound-equipped bass because to my noob-type hands I just prefer the feel of my Squier CV P with flats. So that's the instrument it needs to work for for a start. I'd like something that's going to give me anything from a little bit of grit, through to something that'd hang in classic rock music if I have a hankering to break out the plectrum. I'm not sure if starting from a P with flats means that so,e pedals, rather than others might be a good first look. Any ideas? Thanks
