1. Hello there. This first one is the second promo we made when our album got re-released. It was made for one of the bonus tracks. Pretty happy with it overall. The big fella on drums aint with us anymore. Best thing about making these things is getting drunk which I preceeded to do from 10am on both days of shooting. A fool and his liver are easily parted I think i've outstayed my welcome- Profane This one is from the 19th december just passed when we toured with Enter Shikari. It was at the mandela hall in Belfast (really cool room and stage) and was pretty much the best gig I've ever done. This is set opener 'Porcelain' and aside from our over anxious appearance onstage (new intro hadn't quite sunk in with us yet) was crazy, crazy fun! Porcelain (Live in belfast) - Profane Hope this amuses for ten or so minutes and if it aint your bag then thats fine of course. Thanks in advance for looking.
 2. You've been a busy one aintcha? I share the thoughts of many bro. Nice set up indeed. Take care man. D
 3.
Jason Newsted. LOL
Ha ha ha. I can see it. No pick though.
 4.
Who is this blithering idiot lol. My guitarist's sister was just messing about with her Camera and we felt inspired. She had the torch, guitarist had a laser pointer. I just sat and played ;o)
Thats sweet!
 5.
Oh yeah - that's the one! Awesome!
Agreed by the way. That was actually the main reason I decided to post. Duck wins!
 6. I wouldn't claim this to be an all time best image at all but its my fave shot taken of me. There are some great photographers kicking about at gigs these days. Our very own sshorepunk has made me look cool on a whole bunch of occasions. No mean feat!! In fact This one was taken by sshorepunk and I would say a crackin bass photo. Stu Zender last year with Mark Ronson.
 7.
Having an open mind, then forming an opinion, helps me to enjoy music. Just saying 'it's all good' isn't really very interesting to me. It also doesn't lead to very many interesting discussions... There seems to be quite a few people here who want consensus above all. Not me
Not going to disagree on that man. I really wouldn't wish for consensus of opinion but I just feel some of the arguments tossed backwards and forwards are a bit tired. Whether they be ERB based, Slap playing etc etc etc. insert cliched we should all just live and let live type nonsense here Ha ha. Think I might be too much of a hippy.
 8.
Come on guys, lets take it for what it is. It's a guy in a music shop having a bit a fun showing what he can do. It's not a piece of music. It's not a performance. It's a bit a fun.
Hammer, nail, head. IMO
 9. Nige is a very good friend of mine and a very good musician. I've been fortunate on many occasions to sit and slap some bass with him and he sure as eggs is eggs inspires some of my playing and technique. I'm not about to get involved in this omnipresent argument surrounding what is real bass playing as frankly I couldn't care less and most of you I'm sure will feel likewise about my opinion. All I will say is that I enjoy very much what he does but then I enjoy listening to ANY player with talent and that can run the gamut from Be-bop through to Extreme metal. Having an open mind I feel helps me enjoy music.
 10.
Hey Darryll, I guess I might have some shots of your basses Just booked me and the mrs into the Hilton for next weekend, have a good trip over to Ireland and I'll see you at the music box next friday T
Ha ha ha. I think you might dude. Gonna be MAD!! next week. Right looking forward to it though. So you coming to Rock City too? Dude that camera stays away from me after the show! Its gonna be a messy one! See thee Friday.
 11.
Pretty sure it's Noel? There are a lot of different versions of it, so perhaps you shouldn't be too concerned with total accuracy..? With that in mind, I can tentatively suggest this guitar pro tab http://www.911tabs.com/link/?2231552
Really? I'm quite surprised. I aint really going for total accuracy man. I should maybe have said that I've had to do this track a bunch of times before and have indeed just played it straight 12 so I'm more just quizzical about what the heck is going on with the original (ie first released Hendrix version). I haven't the patience for Tab but thanks all the same.
 12.
The bass on Red House is one of the worst on a slow blues, ever! I have had to play this number on many occasions (guitarists have no imagination!!) and just play a straight 12 bar blues bass line. No one has ever mentioned that it is different to the Hendrix version. If you're learning 25 numbers make it easy and don't bother with the original bass line. It really is crap.
I had thought much the same Chris. It really is a bit of a bugger.
 13. Hello there. I'm sure some of you guys must play Red house in some form or other in your groups so basically I need help trying to understand what the bass is up to. I'm having to cram about 25 songs for a dep I'm doing tomorrow night and of them all this is giving me the most grief. Its hard to determine what the bass is up to on the recording. I get the changes but can't quite get the register its in but it seems pretty chordal. This must have been Jimi playing bass right? Anyway thanks in advance.
 14.
Welcome back. About time too.
Cheers OBBM. Its been a while.
 15.
Hey Darryll! Good to see you around these parts! Howsit hangin? I'm way out of the UK nowadays living in Cape Town South Africa! A LONG way from home! I do miss having great shops full of nice tempting bass gear like back there in the UK! Its just not the same out here! All standard gear really! Nowt Boutique or even much choice in the higher end gear! Anyhow, off my moaning streak! Good to see a familiar face round again! Cheers Big G (Gareth- aka Mr Goliath snr man)
Hiya mate, So you are still there? How long is that now? Glad to see that things have worked out. I reckon knowing you that although there aint any pretty basses out there you've got a couple right?? Takae care man.
 16. I'm a big fan of the Delano pickups. Sure that will sound killer. Enjoy! Edit: Although they are sandberg branded?? Am I being thick?
 17.
Hello mate from one of the newbies (friendly variety). Gary
Thank you good sir. Nice to meet you.
 18.
Ey!!! Alright mate! - I knew it would be too hard to resist lol.. Nah, actually good to see ya back matey. As ever, nice gear. Good to see the ole 'fane doin well too. Catch ya soon bud. Dan
Yes indeed. I am but a weak human with a fondness for amplified wood.
 19. Hey dude. I had noticed you about man. Nice to hear from you. Been mad busy with the band and trying to no avail to hold down jobs and such. These are the decisions I have made though. Just gotta grit my teeth and get on with it . Sure I'm not the only one here with similar issues. Its been going good though hence why the sacrifices are a little easier to swallow. Done lots of gigs, session at Maida vale and getting over to Ireland for the first time next week. Should be great!! Ha ha ha. You also spotted it I see. Still have my natural SS1 which now has black hardware courtesy of my good buddy Mr Toasted but I got a new one in Nirvana black stain with black hardware also (None more black!!). Both are my main gig basses with whichever one I fancy being the one that gets played. The natural though has a mellower sound I suppose on account of it being a '00 therefore more played in. I'll do the whole gear thing once I can get my mitts on a decent camera though. Take care Tom and no doubt chew some fat with you on here. D
 20. Hello all in Basschat land. Names Darryll, live in manchester, play bass (of course) and Madden. I know a bunch of you from my days trolling around bassworld and have thus far resisted joining up here properly. Anyway long story, short version I could resist no longer. Greets to those I know. Here's me doing my t'ing. Easy folks see thee around.
 21. Forgive me if I'm mistaken but you might just be the first bass player I ever saw play live in the flesh so to speak. I would have been about fifteen ish and it was at the witchwood (underage drinking!!). Muffin men show with Andy Treacey (sic) on kit. I hadn't been exposed to Zappa's music before that night. Had a big impact on me that did. Thanks. All the best Jake. Darryll
 22. Alright folks. Right me and Nap' have been out the back and sorted this out man to man. Aside fom now being horrifically disfigured we have come to the conclusion that he is indeed the manager and I clean the toilets. Can't really say fairer than that eh? Seriously though thanks for the compliments paid to our store. It really is a work in progress especially the bass department which both Nap' and myself are keen to see become a great resource for all Nwest lowenders. It will take a little time what with being the new guys on the block (the shop that is not me and Nap') but bear with us. In the meantime if you have any ideas on things you'd like to see us stocking or bass related enquiries give us a call. I'll not post contact details as I'm not sure what Basschats policy is on such stuff (first time I've been through here since the fall of bassworld). Look us up and you'll find 'em. many thanks. Darryll
