1.
it's as much about it being something expensive and precious for myself as it is about looking good infront of other people.
aye but do you only think it is expensive and precious because it makes you look good infront of other people and it cost a lot?
lets face it if you did buy a top of the range maker most your non bassest friends would never have heard of it.
one of the 'coolest' guitarists i ever saw play was the guy from the test icicles (who was on a bill of Test icicles, kooks and Dead 60s with the dead 60s headlining. Random gig to work at) who was going mental on a bright pink squier showmaster.

  2.
While we're on the topic of Vintage basses - I don't think I've seen anyone play so many duff notes confidently than the guy demoing the EST96 MM copy that they sell, has anyone seen that video?
i cant slap. or do fancy harmonics and tapping stuff.
But he makes me look good! oh yeah, i could sell bass guitars to folks....new career....

  3.
Maybe a stupid question...who did the original of What's Going On? I always thought it was A Perfect Circle, but maybe not?..
What? go click here now, please do. its an awsome live version, and a classic bass line...

  4.
One day I will have £550. When that happens I'll organise a trip too Edinburgh and I'll buy something off you...I promise. In the mean time keep the photos and the sales coming.
don't do that! you know how tempting it is when you see a nice bass and it in your town.... hes in the badlands north of glasgow somewhere so its all ok

  5.
Not really after a cash sale at the moment but a swap for another Status bass would be nice.

Does anybody know how much it would cost for Rob Green to fit a Graphite neck on a Jazz?
look on the website, 325 ish including VAT

  6. A few questions that will help folk work out what it is:
Does it have a strap holder on the back of the headstock?
Do the bits in the bridge the strings sit on have spiral threads like a screw or are they smooth?
What does it say on the headstock?is the fender in gold colour or black? 'Fender' with 'Precision bass' underneath or after?

Should be able to guess which model it is with all that!
    :)

  7. before I played anything I loved music so much, i would listen to the radio for hours and just be transfixed. As I learn more i can understand more, i listen to a lot of stuff now and im working out how its played, the notes and so on.
I like jazz cos i dont get it, its all a glorious mess of amazing sounds to me still. I have no idea how to start playing jazz bass (any pointers?) but it sounds amazing. Its so cool, i dont get it but i like it.
Like I get 'so what' by miles right up to 1:32 where it just takes off!

  8. its funny, british, slightly clunky, sometimes strangely ordered, and it works fantastically.
In short its not perfect but it's good.
I don't think necessarily pushing to be 'better' and more professional is a good idea. At the moment its the grassroots punk* fanzine, all cutting edge, injokes, edgy messy and cool. Push it to be too proffesional and it could turn into NME or heat or something.

One thing I did think though is the affiliates forums are kinda hidden away and not in any sorta order. And the wiki is a bit underused.

*i.e. in 1978.. not the stuff we call punk now
