1. I'm a 22 year old bassist with roughly 8 years of experience, looking for paid session work/ a place in a touring covers band. I have just completed a Popular Music Studies BA (Hons) degree at Liverpool John Moores University, and I'm looking for work in the music/live music sector. I am enthusiastic and dedicated, with a good-looking and fashionable image (which comes with the territory of being a big Duran Duran fan!). As my degree is now complete, I'm now free to indulge in playing music full-time. I'm a skilled, versatile fingerstyle funk/jazz-funk/disco player with musical interests ranging from late '70's-early '80s Brit Funk and new-wave (Duran Duran, Freeez, Beggar & Co etc.) to acid jazz, Motown and some rock, such as Simple Minds, Bowie etc. My current originals group can be found at www.super8cynics.com - there are several sound samples available. My current stable of instruments consists of a 1996 Music Man Stingray (4 string) a Music Man SUB (5 string) and a 1979 Aria Pro II SB-1000 (4 string). I am based up on Merseyside (Southport/Liverpool), so I'm in easy reach of any part of the country. Cheers! Jack Ellis
2. Just dropping in with another update; the remaining tickets we have our new FREE, so if anybody is in the Kings Cross area on Saturday night and fancies dropping by then it'll cost you zilch to get in! Here's a vid of us at a recent gig in Manchester. I'm the bassist, obviously: Cheers!
3. Update: the tickets have been relisted in another auction for some reason! You can find the new link here if you are interested in purchasing a ticket for this gig: eBay Thanks again!
4. This is the first London Show of my band SUPER 8 CYNICS, a North-West-based 5-piece (4x Lancashire, 1x Merseyside!). The show will take place on Saturday 26th March at Monto Water Rats, 328 Grays Inn Road, Kings Cross, London, WC1X 8BZ. Doors open at 7, Super 8 Cynics will be onstage at 8.45. It promises to be a great show. Some tickets have been made available on eBay, priced at £6 a pop. For more info please visit www.super8cynics.com. There's a few sound samples up on that site, and you can find us on Facebook too where there should be a couple of full tracks. Please have a listen, let me know what you think, and pop down to the Water Rats on the 26th to see us play! Thanks very much for looking guys (hopefully this thread is in the right board! Please move if not.) Jack
5. Proud new owner here! Finally in possession of the two basses I'd always wanted to own (Stingray and SB-1000), though I'd never thought I'd come across such a good example of one of these. Great to meet you Derrick, all the best.
6. Hi, I'm a member on TalkBass but have browsed BC a couple of times in the past and found it extremely comforting to be (largely) back in the company of UK bassists' talking the common language of Pounds Sterling! I'm from Southport up on Merseyside, roughly 15 miles outside Liverpool. I've joined primarily to scout through the classifieds, as I've been on the lookout for a new 4 string bass to replace my MusicMan S.U.B. 5 which, sadly, rarely gets used. I'm hoping to pop it up on the marketplace here soon enough. In terms of musical influences, I'm still a fairly young bassist at 22 yet I love late 70s/early 80s Brit Funk, disco and jazz-funk (etc. etc...), as well as having an unhealthy fascination with bands such as Duran Duran, Japan, Human League, Depeche Mode, Ultravox et. al. My own musical output in my group is heavily influenced by all of the aforementioned; you can find our website at this address! Thanks all, Jack
