1. I've only got one working bass (EB0). Got a non-working 70's Aria (fubar wiring) and a Stingray copy (fubar fretboard), an unfinished project which probably wouldn't have worked very well even it was finished. You do need more that one bass though. Bare minimum of two. It's the law.
  2. Can't hurt can it? My childhood musical memories are of the likes of Queen, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin et al. Actually, apprently babies/tods listening to classical music makes them more intelligent (gives them lass ADHD or something like that), maybe some smooth bass would make them more laid back and 'cooler' in later life? The only downside to my own musical childhood was that it kinda stuck with me throughout my school years and the only people I could have conversations with about such music were teachers. Not such a great thing.
  3.
I strugle to learn songs by ear and I believe that one of the reasons for it is because I can't sing to save my life, I'm really horrible, so I thought that singing lessons would help me working on my hearing which in turn will help me with my bass playing.
I don't think being able to sing has anything to do at all with your 'ear'. Having a sound to instantly correspond with the note you're trying to match is, I find, invaluable but - it sure as hell doesn't have to be singing. Humming or whistling helps just as well. Humming's probably a better method for bass players since you can generally hum lower than you can sing/whistle comfortably. However, ear training's just like anything else. Just needs practice. There's an ear training program for Windows call 'Auralia' which i've tried and does help.

Hello all, I'm pretty sure I posted here once or twice many years ago but honestly just can't remember. Anyway, been bassless for a couple of years and currently awaiting delivery of an Epiphone EB-0. Used to own a Burns Marquee, a knackered 60's Aria 'Thing' and some random Musicman copy, I can't really get away with longer scale basses. I just ain't got the digits for them. I just want to get back into the groove Big fan of The Who, Queen, Cream, older rock/blues that sort of thing which, seems to still be a potential problem for me. I do eventually want to get in to a band of some sort and those around my age (i'm 25) don't seem to go for that sort of thing. We shall see. Need to get the damned bass first and see how rusty my fingers are. No doubt I shall have questions about setups and so on within the next few days.
