1. As a fellow Trace player, I'd recommend another cab, not a new head. The 1153 is fine for belting out thick bottom end, but maybe you need another cab that will tease out the tones that your SMX can easily achieve. My amp is an AH200 Series 6 GP12 - a couple of models behind yours. I also run it with a 1153, but also with a 2103x, which is a 2x10 with 2x5. That's a heck of a lot of tone, especially with a 12 band graphic. Unfortunately at 31Kg (65-odd lbs) the 2103 isn't a lightweight, but it gets a tone and punch you might like. Just a thought anyway. Have fun. BB
2. Not a thing. I used to have a Line 6 LD300 with a pedal board for effect, but got bored very quickly. Now I just go straight into a Trace Elliot Series 6 GP12 with a 1x15 and 2x10 (with 2x5) and Bob's-yer-bass-playin'-uncle... BB
3. I'm interested, but looks like a generic photo to me. Having read the thread about scammers, can you post a pic with today's paper please? BB
4. The Samson system works a dream for me. It looks a little stubby, just sticking out the jack socket, but better than the short-cable-and-transmitter versions that my guitarists use, which are always falling off their straps. Also, the Samson transmitter uses just 1 AAA battery. Bestaluck BB
5. I suppose much will depend on what amp you're playing it through, but for a limited budget I really think you'll do well with a Fender Jazz. Bestaluck BB

14.
The 500W will be equally divided between two cabs of the same impedance, i.e. 250W each.
Many thanks Dincz.
15. Hi folks, I've recently discovered this forum, and think it's just great. This is my first post though, so be gentle... I've read through all the posts in this highly useful thread, and have certainly learned a great deal. However, here's my situation: I currently run a Trace Elliot AH200 (Series 6 GP12) into two 300W 8 ohm TE cabs (a 1153 and 2103x). I take one output from the back of the head, then daisy chain the two cabs together by XLR. So, from what I've learned from this thread, this is a parallel 4 ohm cab set-up, delivering 200W. However, the AH200 is on its way out. I've also got two loud guitarists to cut through in the band, so I'm thinking of getting of getting an AH500 head that I've spotted on Flea Bay. The idea is to use the same speakers, so the cabs would theoretically receive a max of 500 W. However, they're 300W cabs. My question - is this a no-no because the output power of the amp would exceed the wattage of the cabs? Or do two cabs at 300W each effectively give me 600W? Alternatively, anyone got a TE 250 or 300W SMX??? Many thanks, BB
