Reallt enjoyed that. Never really given them enough of my time. What's the best place to start?

This is good:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Livestock-Brand-x/dp/B000025JS1

2. I remember back in the days when one swapped the flares for skinny jeans and dms, hid all the Yes albums and started listening to the Clash, going to a local gig featuring the slits, probably in 1977. A long haired 15 year old guitarist Frampton/Hendrix/ Kossoff wannabe mate of mine, who hadn't quite caught up,stood in the middle of the joyous pogoing, gobbing mayhem, made the devils horn sign thingy and yelled "Sabbath".
My initial though was should I smack him in the mouth ? It may save his life, but I think we got away with it anyway.
Happy days

But that's the whole point! It's not a Fender. It's something that fixes all the things that are wrong for me on the original.

What are those then ?

I've been here since May 2007 and on bassworld before that for about 2 years and I've always been uninteresting and worthless.
About the same time for me and I fit that description too. In fact in the real world whether playing bass or all the non important stuff like work marriage and parenthood I can only aspire towards being adequate.

What!!! You mean all these years I've been...?

Right!

That's It!

I'm off!

And don't try to tempt me back!

If anybody wants me I'll be in my trailer not taking any calls!

*Flouncity flouncity flounce* (noises of stomping, harrumphing, tutting, etc. followed by brief pause)...

I'm going out for a short walk now. I may be some time... (sound of failed attempt to slam a non-slam door followed by continued but rapidly receding sounds of stomping feet and further harrumphing, tutting, etc.)
Is this the part where you storm over to the door, open it realise it's a cupboard close it and then flounce out of the other one ?

Little vid of the standing ovation we got at the end of our Dundee gig. So proud :)

Having had a quick gander at the vids on your website justifiably so. Cracking stuff.
What a great gig you have there.

Under 8lbs, 32" scale, black body, bwb pickguard, maple neck, passive with S1 switch. Anything else is icing.

My one is a 2006 USA although with a 34" rosewood neck. Love it. I've never tried a maple one nor seen many around.

8. One of the bands I play with rehearse regularly in the luxury annexe of the drummers house - hard to imagine I know but it's true.
I use an old Peavey TNT which heowns and the guitard uses my old Fender Twin, mainly because I store it there and hardly ever use it these days, so it prevents a family of mice moving in to it. Perhaps I should charge him a hire fee !

Other bands that I rehearse with in rehearsal normally split the cost of the room and if drums and amps aren't included, mostly the drums are, then you pay the extra bit on top as required for your drums or backline. So I take my amp rather than pay if required.
I've never paid for a rehearsal as a dep nor asked one to contribute.

I suppose a topic could be made of, what bass do you get the best bang for your buck? That could be interesting. From the reports i have read, you can`t get much better value for a bass than Squire.

You're welcome! The half of the cheese that landed on laminate flooring was easily removed, the rest, that ended on the carpet, was a nightmare.

Protip #2: Bake said fromagery in a bowl or dish, not on a flat oven tray.

I tried, I did, .....I really, really tried to ignore it...... but you know what happens when you've had eight pints of Doombar

8 pints of Doombar ? - Posted at 8:41am ? :o
That's an early start even for me.

It is somewhat odd that the forum is being portrayed as a bear pit of bad temper and arguments on the one hand and then tBBC always crops up as some marker of the halcyon days of basschat. Troll doesn't even come close, i don't share others nostalgia for his continuous offencive posts.

Several of the old guard who have 'left' were as ready as anyone to engage in a rigorous debate...what it seems now is critisised as being argumentative.

There's always been big bust ups on basschat...usually in the early hours of the morning.

And one has to ask one's self, how many times can one discuss the pros and cons of flats over rounds
No me neither re Tbbc. Can't recall a single post of his that made me smile. There have been plenty of others of the old guard that I either had rigorous debates with or followed their heated discussions that never descended into an argument or insults which no longer seems the way of things in ot these days. Oh and it's rounds everytime, except on a fretless.

13. I know what Jack means about change in ethos and for me the tone of debate in many threads , having been on here for ages since the days when BC was called something else and only available on black and white. However I couldn't explain it to a newcomer either, only that it's just not as much fun( except for Skankdelvar's contributions - always a good read) and a lot of my favourite posters have either left or gone quiet.
There are moments of heartwarming community spirit, there's one going on right now, and good humour but also an increasing number of depressingly negative threads and just downright rude gits on here too. If one can't express a strongly held view or engage in debate, without being obnoxious then I don't want to bother. There are a few posters recently that I'll no longer engage in conversation on Basschat with because I just can't be assed with them. That's a recent development for me on here.

No need to apologize for the songs you chose. Everyone likes something. Just listening to Sade, 'Smooth Operator' ... nice fretless tone and you are right, hard to imagine the song being as good without that bass line. Velvety tone, like the singer. Really good job by the bass of matching the feel of the overall composition with tone and line. Well done.
Agreed lovely bass part
Slight digression but the producer of this and Sadies other songs Robin Millar was on Desert Island dics yesterday. Interesting bloke with one helluva CV.

15. I had one of these. Great amps and lots of bang for your buck.

Although I did manage to get an extra bang out of it when I stupidly connected a speaker out lead into the effects send while setting up the stack in a hurry at a dark and dingy rehearsal. I managed to get it fixed under warranty by the distributor, courtesy of a very helpful music shop who shall remain nameless, despite it being just out of warranty and my fault.

16. I have one of these. swapped a leather jacket for it from my brother in the early nineties I think. Mine has a more standard p type bridge and is just a flat blue colour
It plays pretty well from what I remember, although these days it sits in the back of a cupboard and hasn't been used for a few years. I must dig it out and plug it in again. It has an odd unidentified rattle somewhere inside the neck, although the truss rod works fine, and a cracked scratchplate near the jack socket.

Update....

Our first gig has now been booked for April 25th @ The Ship in Leigh-On-Sea, Essex. It's a small venue, but sold out within three days of being announced on FB.

So, six weeks to go and I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm becoming obsessed by everything Bowie and I'm loving it. It's the most alive I have ever felt from a musical standpoint.

Just started work on Panic In Detroit and New Killer Star. Won't be ready for The Ship, but time well spent.

Great stuff it sounds a great gig. Will you be posting the setlist here ? Intrigued to see what you went with.

Dee Murray, although generally not underrated by anyone that knows about him. Check out any early Elton John, 11-17-70 reminds me why I love bass everytime I listen.

Definitely. especially with Nigel Olson on drums. Cracking rhythm section .
