The box hadn't been opened but that's what i thought too.

i have the tension chart for the D'Addario EXL190's that i use but not the Dunlop charts. Dave

Parcelforce was courier. That's same company that delivered both from Poland so its a complete mystery unless i've used a different commodity code. I used a valve bass amplifier code so maybe because there are glass valves they wont ship by plane. Dont know what code Leszek used. Cant see valves making a difference. I've never sent anything abroad that needed customs paperwork like this. Dave

I used to put Elixir strings on my Thumb bass when they first came out but i found them a little stiff. Maybe the new versions have less tension. What did you find with them. I killed a new set of D'Addaios at a very hot gig where i was sweating a lot. I've never experienced a set of strings going after one gig. Dave

Thanks for that, longevity was one of the reasons i was going to change over to them. No point changing as they are both similar prices. Dave

New update :- Replacement amp arrived today and is working perfectly. Didn't take as long as first one. Clarity of tone and an amazing depth. With the amp running flat is thunderous even at lower volumes. I had to dial the bass EQ back to around 9-10 o clock on the amp to get a home tone i liked without rattling pics on the wall. I can now get that overdriven valve tone. Downside is that the original amp i returned was sent back to me from customs in UK stating it was too DENSE and they could not verify what was in the box with their scanning equipment and therefore they could not ship by plane. I've been offered a full refund on postage. Leszek is having a think about what to do next as he's confused too. Dave

I didnt notice black label versions. I'll have another look but going up a gauge was why i asked about them too. Thanks for replying @Supernaut Dave

Does anyone know what the string tensions are for Dunlop nickel 40-100 and 45-105. I'm thinking of trying them but they mention a light tension and i'm not sure i want less tension than my D'Addario EXL190's. It may well be its negligible. Dave

I find it OK Not the nicest bass i've ever seen but at that price it would do as a back up bass assuming it plays well. I might change the white knob to black tho. Dave
-
Agree, i really like that.

I generally wont gig a bass over £1k. At moment i'm using a Sandberg MarloweDK (2nd hand) that i just love and my MIM Vintera P bass that is just a nice warm tone. I was using my Sandberg VM4 for Glam rock band but recent rehearsals the P bass just seemed to work better. I currently have 2 basses i wont take out house except for studio recording when asked by friends. Overwater Custom 6er fretless and a Warwick Thumb NT 1989 i've had since new. Everything else i own is circa £1k or under. Dave

Sorry Tim maybe just the way i worded it but i was comparing a 4003 to a £2k Fender. Not the hideous 4005 at £5.5k. No way i would pay over £5k for any bass let alone a Ric. Unless you are an absolute Ric fanatic, who is gonna spend that on a Ric bass. ? Maybe a Ric collector with lots of money ? Not me. Dave
-
Have to agree that the Ric 4005 isn't a bass i like the look off but i am a fan of the 4003 shape. I've not owned a Ric since 80's but i'm guessing they are still as good if not better quality than many Fender basses at same price tag. Dont know enough about Ric basses to comment on whether they are all good quality or like Fender have some poorer basses. On the subject of Ric basses i was surprised to see them For Sale again on BC. When did that happen ? Dave

The Cave in Paisley Glasgow 6-9pm with the punk covers band. Start was fairly quiet with just about 12-15 people there but as we got intothe first set more people came in. Not what i call busy but an appreciative audience. 9pm finish means kebab shop on way home and back in the house for 11pm. Job done mmmmmmm. Dave
-
Always a good feeling when that happens. Nice one.
-
Should the vomit be more sunburst
-
Kazoo comes in P or J format too.
-
They also come in sunburst / tort. Job done
-
Aye you got me there. 😂
-
Ach you're just saying that. 😂 I bet you have a secret hanckering for one of these beauties. Dave
-
Have to say i dont actually have a sunburst bass ........ at the moment. Just wondering if you tend to return to the colour and style of basses that were popular when you started out. Members of a certain age (obviously me) will return to those glorious days of sunburst / tort Fender basses. I have to admit after trying WoT's early P bass i now have a hankering for one. Dave
-
Jings i forgot to get my bus pass 2 yrs ago. Once i get the bus pass i'll look at a matching sunburst / tort P bass. Dave
-
The desire for every other finish but sunburst / tort is just a passing fad. You will eventually come back to the classic finish that we all love eventually . Its tradition and we all love tradition. 😂 You just dont realise it yet Dave

Excellent stuff in there. Cheers @bassbiscuits Will go through some more clips later. Dave

Elton John tribute would be a great band to play in. Love playing Elton classics. Bass lines are usually nice to play and more to them than you first think. We do Sat Night's Alright and i just love playing that song, probably one of my favs in the set. Nice one. Some live vids would be nice to see and hear the band or a link to your band FB page if available. Dave
