1. I was going to reluctantly sell my VMJ to a Basschatter called Marcus as he really wants one, however i am firmly holding on to mine after playing it for 5 hours straight last night and after realising i have a really special one, the body wood grain is beautiful, the neck is perfect, the bass sings, its superbly playable and for that reason its just not for sale, i have passed the advert on to him via PM so he may be in touch.

The thread of how I refinished it is here .. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...t=0&start=0

    Cheers.
Awesome stuff!! Looks fantastic!! Thanks mate.

Awesome looking Warwick you got there Silddx! you got a gear porn section on that bass?! if not why not?! I want more!

  4. Bought Gary William's Warwick Thumb '89 NT bass about a month ago now! Fantastic guy let me come to his home to try the bass and get a feel for it, got personal collection and drop off from the local train station to boot! What a guy!

Great communication even after the sale, genuine guy, great player, buy or sell with absolute confidence.

    Cheers mate!

  5. Beautiful collection there Lee mate! I really hope the Ken Smith was worth the Warwick swap?! *crazy man*

And i can't believe i'm having to look at another gorgeous white jazz with a tort pickguard!! Nightmare!! GAS much?

  6. I get a very similar sound to Dirk's tone from my Stage II , its a very mid range bass with a huge amount of growl when you dig which Dirk does alot, just watch Live in Chicago to see that! Nothing a little compression isn't going to help amplify either!

I love his tone on that album and in general! big inspiration.

  7. The only problem i have with my finger technique and the one finger per fret rule is, i'm not smooth returning on Notes, so the whole 1,2,3,4 is fine, but when returning back 4,3,2,1 i find my third finger still isn't developed enough going backwards on runs at any speed over 90bpm and it really slows me down, its quite frustrating! But still practice makes perfect and its something to work!

And i totally agree with both of Bilbo's posts! very relevant!

  8.
Nice! Any news anyone ? Remember its only 10 months since they demo'd them at NAMM...... rotflmao  :)
+1 for the interest in the Synth Pedal! sounds awesome!

  9. I can't do distortion, i have tried, but i love the unflavoured bass tone too much and don't like to dirty it, i do however get a fantastic bite from my Streamer Stage II and Markbass though when i dig in and thats usually enough for me!

I'd rather let the guitars in my band do the shouting.

  10. In my experience "Backline" means Cabinets and Drums only, I and my band always take our own Amp Heads and the drummer takes his own snare*s* and cymbals, the last two gigs we have played the other two bands just used our gear as it "made things easier" nothing to do with the fact that we rolled up with a vox stack, orange stack, and my Hartke and Markbass stack and the headlining band who were providing backline brought Marshall Practice amps....

I personally hate when a band just assumes they can use my gear and don't bring anything to the gig, what were they planning to do if i didn't bring anything? I get Especially riled up when a headlining band bring nothing to the show, thats the real joke.

  11. When i had a bass shipped over here from the states, it was marked up as a gift, but i still had to pay £89.00 in Import Tax and Fee's, your guy sounds legit, it also sounds like he's going to great lengths providing you with additional photos and a recording! so i would like to think you had nothing to worry about when buying from him, as someone else said above me its built up on trust really, take the plunge if you're 100% sure.

    Best of luck.
