1. I've owned many basses over the last few years, including USA precisions & jazzes, Warwicks, Musicman, etc.
A bad back forced me to buy a lighter bass, and I went for a SR500.
I love it so much now, that it's the only one I ever pick up, apart from the SR505 I added a few weeks later.

They are great basses, worth far more than they cost IMO, and deliver all the sounds you will ever need for playing all kinds of music.

  2.
How old was Sting in 1956. :)
He was five, but I read somewhere that he was a very early starter! :)

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not doubting the authenticity of the bass,
but it does seem a bit odd to see so much wear, that high up on the dusty end of the board?

  3.
Got it in the post yesterday - so far, wow! Extreme squash and sustain, just like I wanted.

I'm gonna put it through its paces with my 6 string, my 12 string tapper and a fretless. Should get some sound clips up soon.

    :)
I will look out for your review and clips.
    Cheers

  4. It normally take me around twenty minutes to get all my gear set up and running, whilst the drummer takes about an hour,
and the lead guitarist takes forever farting around with all his gear, and I would imagine this is pretty much the norm for most bands.

So why would you want to tune up at home, when you have so much time to kill, you could tune up over and over again while you are waiting.
And you can have one last tweek as you take the stage, with a floor tuner permanently plugged in, takes around thirty seconds.

    Buy yourself a tuner!

  5.
Hey folks - just saw this on the TC Electronics site and it made my cold cynical heart inch up a degree or two. I hadn't heard of Simon Vignola before, so I'm probably coming late to the party. I'm digging the chops making a nice tune, not just nice chops. Enjoy:

Just a pity that he's not playing live!

  6.
La Bella Deep Talkin' Flats 760FX have orange/terracotta silks.

They are extra light 39-56-77-96. Does that sound convincing?
Thanks mate, I guess that's what they are, as I've just found the old packet for them.

They are great sounding strings IMO.

Thanks for all the help guys, it's taken just over an hour to solve the mystery.

I new I could rely on you Bass Chatters out there.

  7.
Not tried it yet, but after reading Ovnilabs I purchased one via ebay - should get it in a week or so. Will probably do review or put up some soundclips as I couldn't find much on youtube or elsewhere regarding the bass compressor specifically.
Look forward to hearing your review.
    cheers

  8. I'm looking for a compressor, and came across these on eBay.

Just wondered whether anyone has any knowledge of them.
