  1. Musicman Stingray 1989

I’ve had this for about 10 years of it’s near 35 year life, this bass has seen a lot of action and plays beautifully. (S/N 27254 9th Jan 1989).

It has wear and tear but that’s because it’s been gigged a lot not because someone has taken a sander and a blowtorch to it, unlike the relic’d basses you see these days.

The maple neck is lovely and the photos really don’t do it justice, lovely low action.

The black paint isn’t glossy anymore, the hardware isn’t mirror shiny, but then again it has aged better than I have.

Recently set up and serviced by Mor Music in York.

Currently strung with Ernie Ball Cobalt Flatwounds. The only thing I have replaced is the string mutes as they were worn out when I got the bass, the replacements are from Musicman.

I’m not sure what the bare patch is all about on the back, I don’t know whether someone in the past has had something stuck on to make it sit a certain way if wearing it high up.

Comes with a non Musicman hard case.

    I can ship if necessary.

Only selling to get another 5 string and possibly an acoustic.

    Weight 4.3kg / 9.5lb

    Based in North Yorkshire.

  2. 10 hours ago, Maude said:

The thing is, I just don't need it.

I'd like it but is that a good enough reason.

I know they're not comparable but I'm really loving my reverse P 424 at the moment.

@Reggaebasshas just posted the counter argument.

I can't go tonight anyway so I'm going to see what happens tomorrow.

When did NEED ever get in the way when it comes to basses?

Realistically none of us need more than 2 or 3 basses if we really admit it, but that doesn’t stop us from wanting 10, 20 or however many!

  3. @Al Krow I still have a BB1500A, I got it as a backup for my TRB4 Mk1 as it was the closest thing I could find to it, saying that they are very different, I put some TI flats on it and it sounds awesome.

I did a swap for it with my BB2004, in hindsight I’d get another BB2004 or BB2005, I don’t think I appreciated how good they were at the time.

My Yamaha’s have seen off far more fashionable and desirable basses, but I guess I just like the way they sound and feel.

  4. Pretty much brand new Fender American Performer Jazz bass, bought over the summer but a flooded dining room and a ridiculous excess on my insurance forces sale.

Plays like a dream, I treated myself to two new basses over the summer and this loses out to a new Spector.

I’m not desperate, just would rather not put the work on my credit card unless I have to.

It has only left the house twice thanks to lockdown and is in perfect condition, as new.

I have fitted Schaller strap pins and replaced the pick guard, original included.

    Can ship, sensible offers considered.

  5. For sale is my custom made Flying V, made by Ray Cooper guitars in 2002 but after 17 years with me it's time for a new home where it will be played.

I no longer play metal and it doesn't look right with me playing rock covers in pubs these days, frankly you feel a bit of a plonker playing Wonderwall on a bass like this 😀 (Especially now I'm middle aged and fat lol)

I've had some modifications made to it since it was built, I had a new truss rod fitted by luthier Stuart Palmer a few years ago, the old one didn't break I just wasn't happy with it, so this is now accessed via the headstock and not via the body.

The body and neck are mahogany, with a burl mahogany top and ebony fingerboard. The neck is very slim too.

A few minor scratches and small nicks in the lacquer, it has been gigged and not wrapped in cotton wool, but saying that, it hasn't been abused.

Schaller tuners and bridge, with adjustable string spacing.

I've replaced the pots with gold ones, still have the black ones if you prefer those.

Built-in flush mounted Dunlop straploks. You can balance this bass brilliantly, so no neck dive!

Pickups are EMG P and J with EMG EQ. It sounds immense.

Comes with a proper fitted soft case, I do have a hard case but it weighs a ton, (the case not the bass), so would be impossible to post. Collection preferred or I can deliver within reason.

I appreciate that this is a pretty niche product, but it is a great bass.

  6. Someone is going to get a real quality bass here, I've had mine for over 21 years, it's seen off all sorts of other quality basses, just love it.

Somebody needs to buy this before I become tempted and risk being killed by the wife :-)
