You've been lucky then.
For more then just being able to take it in the cabin. I know plenty of people that have taken guitars into the cabin on transatlantic flights and been held for 8-12 hours in customs before finally being let into the country. I'd hate that to happen. Even if I didn't have anything to hide.

2. Oddly enough, on the subject of clicks being restrictive, a few of my friends went to see Rammstein in Nottingham last night and apparently at one point their click track messed up mid-song so they had to stop and start again.
So it even happens to the best of them!

3. Like others have said, it depends how good your drummer is. A lot of drummers assume they can play to a click because "It's just playing in time, ain't it." and then fail miserably when they actually try. I've seen that happen a lot!

As long as the songs are at the right tempo it'll sound fine. It might take you a little while to get used to playing the whole song at the same tempo though.
My band don't play to a click live but we always do in the studio. We'll write, rehearse and gig a song for a while and get it tight then when we play it to a click to work out the tempo for the studio it sometimes sounds odd. I think there are certain parts of songs where most people naturally speed up a couple of bpm (usually choruses) and usually you don't notice but when you start doing the same song with a click it can make some parts seem fine whilst other seem a little bit fast or slow. When you get used to it though, it's fine.

Our drummer plays in another band that do play to a click and he loves the freedom of playing with us without one.

4. I got a VM P Bass a couple of years ago and it's an incredible bass!
It may not be the best made bass in the world (actually the build quality is surprisingly good) but it sounds fantastic and for less than £200 brand new you can't really go wrong!

Thanks!

Yes we did. As Mr Venom says - it's the only place in Nottingham that is more sleazy than he is!

BTW welcome to Basschat! There's plenty of other people from Nottingham here but few of them seem to be in bands I've heard of, so it's nice to see someone here who's band I know.

He's got a point!
My old band did our album launch there a few years ago. I'd be willing to bet it was a much more laid back affair than yours!

And thanks, I've been here for a little while, just not posted all that much.
Hopefully catch you at a gig soon!

6. Here's the new eBay listing with the dropped price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vox-3002-Custom-Bass-RARE-/130656481970?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item1e6bbbb2b2#ht_8129wt_1270
Though I'd still be interesting in selling privately.

It's strange, I've never seen another of these in person and only ever seen one Standard in the flesh but since deciding to sell I've come across a fair few people that have them both. Maybe it's that old thing where you don't notice something until you're consciously aware of it?

7. Hey guys,
I am selling a Vox Custom 3002 Bass with original wooden hard case. I'm looking at £450 for both.

I've had this bass for 11 years and have barely touched it in the last 9 or 10 so I decided it should go to a good home where it will actually get some use. I thought I'd post it on here to see if there was any interest before I put it on the Bay.

I'm not sure of the year of manufacture but as far as I know these were only made between 1982 and 1984 at Aria's Matsumoku factory and, as a consequence, are pretty rare.

Everything on the bass is original apart from the nut. They came with a brass nut but (from what I've read and as was the case with mine) the top edge of the nut had a tendency to wear down over time and the E-string would pop out if you hit it too hard. I had the brass nut changed for a graphite one not long after I got it.

Spec:
34" scale.
24 frets.
Through-neck.
DiMarzio pickups.
Volume and single tone control.
3-way pickup selector.
Mode switch for series/parallel or coil tap.
Deluxe bridge and tailpiece assembly.
String-through body.

From the little info I could find, I found out that Billy Sheehan played one for a short time whilst he was playing with UFO.

8.
One band I'm in tunes down to C, and I'm using my Ric, strung with DR DDT's 110 set. Great strings, didn't need the truss rods tweaked or anything, and no floppiness
That's cool to know.
I just checked their site though and it looks like they do a 105 set and a 115 set but no 110 set? Not that I can see anyway.

9. Thanks for that.
I've actually used Newtone before. They're based about 15 minutes from my house and a friend of mine used to work for them. I'll get in touch and see what they suggest.

Although last time I used their strings I broke one on the first gig. Maybe it was just a bad string?
