"Isolated audio track of bassist John Entwistle playing "Won't Get Fooled Again", filmed for The Kids Are Alright documentary"
from the mixing desk i guess...
presumably they'd record the concert on multi track for mixing to the film later...
or they recorded just entwistle for the documentary. -
I honestly had to look that one up. The Fleetwood Mac song? YouTube here I come...
edit: the ending? The old Formula One theme? OK.
that's the one !! -
Smoke On The Water
PS: in a local guitar shop, they have the usual list of banned guitar pieces: Stairway To Heaven etc.
haha - sheerers in leeds had a list like that when i was at school...it had a list of guitar ruffs...stairway to heaven, smoke on the water, foxy lady etc. and at the bottom ?
"and for bassists...the chain"
i never know what to play when i'm trying out a bass. i was trying out some overdrive pedals a few weeks back and i ended up playing some my bloody valentine and sonic youth songs.
after a minute or two i realised i had an audience of 3 young lads. they looked very confused...i'm not quite sure what they expected me to be playing -
be difficult to put my finger on it, but prolly something by joy division...maybe 'she's lost control' ??
first bassline i learned (or rather was taught) was 'a forest' by the cure. -
nice bit o' wood.
I bought a Stingray as well - and its absolutely awesome!
thinks about double muff...thinks about stingray.
aaah well....one musicman is enough for me i guess. -
looking....erm...'tired' and in need of some soap and water ! -
i bought a ehx double muff from ebay...not entirely sure why, but for £25 ???
why not ! -
good god !!!
i just got my 80's jazz bass out of the case it's been in for the last year or two. it used to be my no. 1 gigging bass until i got my pj. jaysus ! does it stink...pub carpets and 1000 cigarette butts. i mean folks...i smoke and it still kinda turned my stomach to play it.
any tips for getting rid of the smell ? -
ok...i've stopped mathering and this is the pedalboard for the upcoming drum and bass radio session.
fender cowpoke >> behringer tuner >> aria platinum drive >> cae line booster >> ehx micro q-tron >> ehx small clone >> behringer bdi >> desk
i've had to put the cae booster in there, and run it to make up for the vol boost that comes from the q-tron. -
ok - here's the deal...i got myself an aria td-1 valve overdrive pedal and it came with a no-brand chinese 12ax7, so as i had couple of valves lying around i thought it'd try them and see what it sounded like.
firstly i tried a fender (sovtek) 12ax7...sounds good...valve lights up nicely...then i tried a lower gain EHX 12at7...and it sounded different, BUT the valve didn't light up at all.
why should the lower gain valve not be shining with the light of the heaters ?
any ideas ? -
i've no idea what the inside of one looks like....
...or else i'd help.
can you post pic of the innards ? -
I recently got a Zoom 503 amp simulator pedal off Ebay for about a tenner. They're discontinued now.
Only managed to have a brief mess about with it so far. However, when used in conjunction with BDI21, some of the speaker emulation parameters sound not bad, to my cloth ears.
Never been a fan of Zoom stuff, but this is not a bad pedal. Quite handy for home recording bass.
I see them come up on ebay fairly frequently. Usually don't go for much more than I paid for mine, sometimes less.
hmm - good to know. the bdi'll be fine for the session i'm doing tho...it gives the sound a nice depth.
i've never used any zoom pedal stuff, but i've got two of their rack units and they're good to my ears.
i still mourn my midiverb 3 tho.... -
and now it's here...
blimey, what a monster-sized pedal.
gave it a quick blast and swapped the no-brand 12ax out of it and put in an ehx 12at...sounds much nicer...
does a gentle break-up nicely and has more drive than you could want.
ok - back off upstairs to give it some more wellie -
i started playing bass about 20 years ago, and started teaching myself guitar about 13 years ago when i realised that someone had to play guitar on my demos
i play a bit of keyboards too.
it all adds together...makes you a better musician...so it's a good thing right ? -
Has anyone tried a Hartke VXL Bass Attack?
does the hatke have speaker emulation ? i thought it was just a preamp pedal ? -
Had a brief look inside, vitually everything is fixed to PCB.
Planning on having a go at this sometime this month, when (if) I get some spare time.
Anticipate having to replace pots, jacksockets, & switch etc.
Will be putting mine in fairly decent sized box....
Cheers
thanks for the info... -
I second you on that. Tried both, & I prefer the sound of the Behringer. And for the price, you can get at least five BDI21's!
Tech 21 Blitzkreig cometh!!
My next project,is to put one of mine in a more robust diecast box.
phew - i thought i might be the only one !
i was wondering about a better box...i've still got the casing from my exploded sansamp...
have you had yours open yet ? i was wondering how big the board is and if the pots are wired straight to the board (which i suspect) or on flying leads ?
if you've not opened yours up yet....i might tonight -
Got to say for all the really good practical design features on the bass it's got to be the most ugly J-clone I've ever seen...
plus the one...it's fugly -
took mine down to band practice tonight...
very impressed...playing through an ashdown mag 2x10.
i set it pretty flat with the eg on the behringer and the amp flat, and pushed the drive control a bit.
to my ears (dons flameproof suit) it sounded better to me that my old sansamp...i kid you not. i think it has less mid-cut.
anyway...not the reason i bought it, but a very nice suprise...i'm considering the guitar model for recording now. -
Wire 'em all up in a loop, feed the output back into the input and see what happens
now this idea i like... -
i'm a sucker for mains valve pedals...going to bung a low gain eh valve in it...see how it goes. -
nice work....
-
unless the bass is going into van or the boot of a car i use a ritter gigbag...

you HAVE to go to howard's bass place if it's still there
http://trustedplaces.com/review/uk/newcast...rd-s-bass-place
if you ask him if he remembers the guy who bought a musicman sabre from him years ago...
he does great setups and repairs, and always has some weird and wonderful basses in the shop.
