...they're bloody good....easy midi...parralel blending, stompbox modes..two amps...tuner...massively intuitive. Really ace kit. Defo worth a look with your board, or it's big brother and the team are really supportive ✌️

I've got an Atom on order from Andertons since April but it's been delayed til the end of this month. Hopefully it arrives on time as my band has a pretty big gig in July 🤞

I see so many exciting and exotic looking boards on here. I sometimes feel my board is pretty boring being almost entirely preamps and drives.

In my head I want to play with lots of interesting modulation, synth and delays. In reality I know I'll just stick to the same old gritty tone, certainly in the band.

Does anyone have a main board for gigging along with a more creative/experimentation oriented board etc.

In short yes. Most of the weddings I do these days are with one band and its mostly soul/R&B?pop stuff, so not much need for phasers and delays and fuzzes. All its got is my Noble DI, an Octabvre, a drive of some sort and C4 for the two synths sounds on the set.

The board I use for my originals band (jazz-ish) has all the weird stuff on it: fuzz, delay, chorus, filter. I occasionally take it out on cover gigs if the set is more wide-ranging.

The Squier Paranormal Rascal is out now, apparently, with more pictures and info here. That Sherwood Green with Mint pickguard looks fab, though I think gold hardware would have made it even better:

I like the look of these but, like a lot of short scales, they've placed the bridge very far into the body. This always puts me off, because it negates what is, to me, the point of a short scale: a shorter reach to the lowest fret.

Made some changes recently. Replaced my old Turbo Tuner with the Turbo Tuner Mini. Replaced my ODB-3 with the MBD2 (I love this pedal!)

That created enough space to add a Carbon Copy as a little temporary fun extra.

I've been thinking of getting hold of a Walrus Julia to use instead of the CE-2B. That'd make space for something like a Meris Polymoon where the CC is. Open to suggestions about good chorus', they just need to be in an enclosure along the lines of the MBD2 ideally. Seems like the Walrus Julia, EQD Aurelius and JHS Emperor are the main items that fill the bill?

I like the idea of the Julia and the Polymoon or Red Panda Context 2 as I've been thinking of putting an "ambient" "adjacent" guitar setup together.

I can vouch for the Julia. The blend knob is really useful and the ability to vary the 'Lag' allows for some great tones.

Now wired… I do have to say these rockboards have a better quality than Pedaltrain IMO - even the sticky sides of the Velcro dare I say.

it just all fits to the very edges with no pedals hoovering over the board, my OCD is in paradise. Turns out, all pedals work after my cabling in.

I love a good CS6 truetone with a kettle lead but these Harley Benton power supplies are amazing. 2 variable 9/12/18v outs, 8 isolated outs and dead silent for £60.

How's the Broadcast on bass? seems counter-intuitive to have a low cut 😅

I realise these might be old news / not news / not even interesting 😁 to folks here but I hadn't seen any mention of the new Squier Sonic series Bronco basses?

Standard BBOT bridge and upgraded tuners (might still be like cheese though) and a non-maple neck option for the black bass fans among us. Obligatory pic:

I almost bought a s/h Bronco last year and have a Mustang bass now otherwise I'd be looking at these with a keener eye.

Probably the same Strat pickup in there, though...

we have broncos at my work and they're great. very playable and actually sound pretty decent.

Some that have bought them have said the factory setup was not very good , and the factory strings were terrible. However , once the nut was filed ,  the bridge adjusted , and fresh strings on … they were very happily impressed with the bass. Especially at that price point.

And my interest is re-piqued! Seems damning if the nut needs filed though? take the strings were horribly high at the first fret?

I had one and I let it go. Now I have the silicon.

the silicon is def clearer and nastier. But I like the germanium.

Do you know if the lemon version is any good? £200 is fair

I had the Latent Lemon silicon and I liked it, though the Malekko won out. I'd bet the germanium is worth trying.

You don’t happen to have a Malekko germanium bassmaster kicking around also do you ?

I only have the silicon, and if I did I wouldn't let go of it 😂 Latent Lemon do a germanium clone though, about £200 I think.

Many times. If you can open the cover, you can try to turn/bend the turning part and clean the track, but the easiest way is to change the pot to a new one.

That was my fear 😭 I can't seem to take the circuit board out, it feels like it might break.

  11. The 'Fuzz' knob on my Malekko Diabolik seems to have a short dead spot towards the upper end of its travel. Its Probably only a millimetre or so wide, but at that point the volume drops to almost nothing (just a touch of fuzz coming through) and it clicks as you turn through it.

I've unscrewed all the screws on it to try get a look inside and/or clean the pot, but the way it's built the circuit is locked in there even with all the screws taken out. Anyone with more electronic experience than me seen this before?

Get some dual channel drive pedals and you can double up in the same footprint.

There's space for a standard Boss size pedal, so I could use the Jam Pedals LucyDreamer, it has 2 drive settings.

  13. how many gain stages/drives are people using on their boards? I've had three on my big board for the last 6 months: JPTF FX Jive as a low amp-like drive; Origin Effects Halcyon drive as mid-level cranky drive; and some kind of octave fuzz (Tru-Fi Super Fuzz, Tru-Fi Colordriver, JPTR FX Add Violence, among others). Yesterday I decided to rewire the whole thing to have just the Halcyon and the Malekko B:Assmaster, as its my favourite fuzz pedal (it's a big pedal so I can't have the Jive).

Now I'm worried I don't have enough drive sounds 😅

  14. Update on my situation: I put in a claim through PayPal and within 24 hours had a response for the seller saying they had raised a complaint with DHL, and earlier today I received an email saying DHL were going to contact the driver to find out where it ended up. Fingers crossed!

Last year I ordered a P bass from Andertons, the order details said it was to be delivered by DHL

I'd ordered on a friday afternoon so I wasn't expecting it before the following Monday, anyway Monday arrives - nothing, tracking info tells me its in Bristol depot ready for delivery, ok fair enough a day later is no problem, Tuesday - nothing, checks tracking still in Bristol Depot, phoned DHL, woman on phone say's delivery tomorrow definitely, Wednesday arrives - nothing! Checks tracking which states delivery attempt made, customer not at home, item returned to depot. I'd been in all day, they never came here at all, no knocks on the door or a card left. Phoned them up again, asked to speak to the depot manager, told him that they said they,d tried to deliver when they hadn't, his excuse was "that the driver was probably running late running late and I was too far oit of the way" I said "Great job, so when will I get my package which, was meant to be next day delivery?" He said "By Friday" it came the following Tuesday. I gave Andertons the heads up about DHL's service, they said I'm not the first customer to bring their poor work ethics to their attention and that they would be looking into it.

Last time I ordered from Anderton's (a month or 2 ago) it was delivered by DPD. I wonder if they switched courier because of complaints...

    What a PITA!

What proof can they provide ( Say a copy of a signature or a photograph taken) to substantiate their delivery claim?

    S'manth x

I've escalated it via PayPal and the seller have now raised a complaint with DHL. In my claim I've explained that I wasn't given any proof of delivery (signature or photographs), so there's nothing to prove it was delivered other than the driver clicking a button.

Don’t delivery companies tend to take a photograph as proof nowadays?

My wife lost (though it was replaced in the end) £300 worth of craft soaps after it was delivered, but hidden under a hedge behind our wheelie bin. It was there for two or three weeks before we found it. They had been very, very wet weeks.

Maybe see if you can find out if a photo was taken. And maybe have a scout ‘round (perhaps he can have a look for the parcel and earn himself a badge…).

I live directly on the street (a small lane off a main road to be precise) with no plant life, so there aren't many places to hide it. If it was left on my doorstep it would be in full view of anyone walking past, a problem in itself.
