We're all allowed our own taste. I spent several evenings researching 50s slapback and the Dano was rated very highly indeed. However, I went with the Boss after several sound tests and read reviews. I'd heard of many other good makes from Strymon to Keeley's Memphis Son. It's just a mindfield.

    I hear you there.
I've never owned an echo myself but I'm pretty sure that if I did it would be the RE-20

  2. I deleted the pic of my board I put up a week or two ago..
I've brought so much new stuffs I need to sort it out and take a new picture!!
Of course, I'll have to wait until the two pedals I'm still waiting for arrive ;)
Even by my standards, I've gone a bit overboard lately... C"est la vie

Different echo pedals do completely different things so it depends what he wants. I was playing 50s rock n roll / rockabilly guitar and used the Boss RE-20 after a LOT of research BUT of course that is much more of a tape echo slapback sound and some people want more digital sounding repeats.

Don't quote me on this but I'm 99.9% sure my mate chose the Dan over the Boss even though he had the cash to buy both
    Again, just my $0.02

  4. I bit the bullet today and ordered a Mr Black Fwonkbeta from Andertons
Had a few loyalty points to cash in there so (that's my excuse anyway)
Looking forward to getting my greasy mitts on it if I'm honest, for convenience sake of nothing else, I mean I love my MF101 (like you wouldn't BELIEVE!) but the Fwonkbeta will be great for my mini pedalboard that is currently under construction. It's gonna be nice to be able to 'quack' without the hassle of getting out my MP201 and a bunch of TRS cables and p*ssing about for ten minutes hooking sh*t up.
Lol , I am the MASTER of justification when it comes to pedal power ;)
    Peace

Tuco bought my Bass Whammy and it's heading off to him in tonight's post. He has been great to deal with and has kept in touch regularly about the transaction. Very reliable (payment made really promptly). I am only sorry I wasn't able to engage in conversation with him on all the pedals he's got/is buying /wants to buy. This man is a pedal enthusiast and, next to him, I feel a bit ignorant :) Top Basschatter
    Thanks Daz

    Thank YOU G-Man!
Your a credit to Basschat mate
    Happy New Year!

  6. Hi chatters, happy new year to you and yours
I'm not drunk, merely half cut but I'm throwing caution to the wind and moving on my Custom Cog Custom Hellraiser multi effect unit. I'm not gonna try and give it the hard sell because all the Cog blurb on this site says it all.
Let me copy/paste the deets from the Cog site:

Grand Tarkin Bass Fuzz, Knightfall Distortion and T-65 Octave all in parallel. Four level controls for mixing Dry signal, with only one ever active depending on which combination of effects are selected

That's ^ about the size of it.
Size being the main reason it's going. I've splurged on 3 new pedals lately (hey, it's Christmas!!) and on top of the real estate issue, it's only getting used as a fuzz now so I know I may regret it but like I say, Im throwing caution to the wind.
I'm still going to need a Muff style fuzz, so am open to trades with cash difference either way, would quite like to try a modded Grey Stashe, that would probably be top of my list but obv a Sovtek green would fit the bill (stating the obvious there I know) but yeh, just hit me up with your muffs (apologies if that sounded wrong)

Check out the Mr Black Fwonkbeta also. I prefer that to the Mutron 3X and Meatball I had previously. It's darker, dirtier and thicker them the Mutron!

I've been waiting a few months for my VFE Mini Mu to arrive and just got the customs ticket in the post today. A damn shame the exchange rate has gone tits up, it was a lot higher than expected!

Interesting, I may have to check one out. I been after a filter pedal for a small 2nd pedalboard I'm putting together. I tried the Source Manta out but couldn't get on with it.

Filters are very subjective effects, so what works for one person may not work for another. I also own a MXR M82, mini Qtron, Micro Q Tron, original big box Q Tron, Enigma Q Balls, Emma Discumbobulator, Bassballs, Stereo Talking Machine, Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk Mk II, Chunk Octavius Squeezer, and I've previously owned a 3Leaf Proton, and EBS BassIQ, and for me, whilst they all have their own strenghs and differences, nothing quite matches the sound of a Mu-Tron III. I equally love the Chunk Systems pedals, but they are a much synthier sounding filter.

I settled on an MF 101 and never looked back but my previous faves were Deffo the old big box Q tron+ with the fx loop etc and the Emma Discumbobulator. Although admittedly I've never been lucky enough to try a Mutron in ANY of its incarnations. Unless you count a pretty cool vst version ....? No? Ok ;)

I'll second the Fwonkbeta after just purchasing one - hands down my favourite filter

I'm gonna HAVE to investigate further.
    'Fwonkbeta' just sounds right lol

sound awesome, really "chewy" but look at the size of it!

Fair comment for sure but Foogers are worth every bit of real estate they take up In my humble opinion

  9. Only had literally 5 minutes to play with this pedal today before I'm on the move again.
First impressions were amazing for such a TINY and CHEAP pedal, does a lovely warm overdrive right up to a REAL grind with the tone and mids boosted.
    HELLA impressed!!
    And it's SO cute lol
