A little birdy told me that apparently a limited run 6-string version is on the way for later this year! Not sure if that’s still the case given all the disruption but it’s something to keep an eye on!

If this was a 6 string, I would have hired a team of expert hitmen to take you out, make it look like an accident that involved this bass going missing, and have the bass delivered to me secretly.
same with me.

I like the idea of that, does it make the open strings sound more like fretted ones?
Checked some videos of Singers and man... Marvelous instruments! Still ... six strings I don't know...I'm a huge fan of the 0-fret concept. Having owned several Lefays and others basses with it.
PRO:
- lower, more natural string action in low positions
- open string provides same sound as fretted
CON:
- noneThe 0-fret is typically a little bit thicker than the other frets.

The BB2024/2025 are so good bass guitars. I really enjoy my 2025.

Thanks Marc.
The Peavey Grind is nice. I'll have to keep a closer eye on German eBay. 😋
it is not classic ebay, where the platform takes some fees, but classified/small advertisements, hosted by ebay.

The problem with 6 strings is, they're mostly at the boutique end of the market, and ridiculously expensive. There's very little second hand stuff at the budget end for people like me who just want to dip their toe into the water and try out a 6er.
Not my point of view.
Gimme your budget and I'm happy to compile and send over a list of second hand 6ers available on the German market. Most sellers are easy with shipping (in the UK sellers appear to be a little more prudent and often prefer handover). Beware of Brexit, you will have to pay customs.

Any soundclips?
I really wonder, how the luthier managed to get his hands on a pair of Lefay Rough Crystals. The Dobbratz brothers does not sell them separately.
They did this for some time, many many years before, but abandoned that business.

Kala Ubass California
Scale: 21"
Body: swamp ash
Neck: maple
Fingerboard: rosewood
Strings: 5, polyurethane
Pickup: Piezo
Electronics: 9V, Volume, Bass+/-, Treble +/-
Mechanics: Hipshot
Lacquering: transparent, silk mattThe California has a longer scale than the simple Ubass models.
The sound is perfect for all acoustic settings, but of course it needs amplification.
Country, Folk, Jazz can be played very well. But also in my brutally loud punk band it fits surprisingly well.
Since I won't be doing anything acoustic or similar in the foreseeable future, the bass gets pretty bored and may look for a more busy home.Comes with the pictured gigbag
FP: 700€ (net, after conversion and without fees) -> SOLD
shipping costs depend on destination

Very fair pricing.

Pretty underrated piece of gear.
Whoever is with 19" gear should give this a try.

I collected within very short time 3 Leduc 6ers. My other basses are getting pretty upset. 🙂
If it were a 6er, I'd grab it.
