Hi.
This is my current bass set-up:-
Ampeg SVT 4Pro
Barefaced Bass Super 12.
Rickenbacker 4001.
I’m not unhappy with the sound I am getting but I’d like to try using the Ric-o-sound.
Is it possible to use the two individual amps in the SVT 4Pro to separate the pick-ups for stereo use?
Obviously I would have to add another cab, possibly a Barefaced Compact (dreaming).
I have a stereo splitter, ie one stereo in, two mono out.
Could I use a preamp, such as the SVP-Pro, as one mono input and the main input on the SVT 4Pro as the other mono input?
Would I be able to direct each mono signal to a separate amp and then on to each separate speaker?
I’m not sure if I’ve explained this particularly well, though I think any of you who play Rickenbackers will understand what I’m looking for.
I suppose it might be easier to buy another amp but that means more weight, more expense, more hassle etc. The 4Pro has more than enough power for me. Seems a shame to not use it.
I did use the Ric-o-sound years ago through one amp and cab.
It was a Selmer Treble n’ Bass 100 that had two inputs. (One treble and one bass, surprisingly enough)
Even through one cab it still sounded better than straight mono.
As I said, I’m happy enough with the sound I am getting. (Actually that’s not quite true as my amp is slightly unwell at the moment as in, not working at all.)
I’m mostly just curious to find out if this one-amp Ric-o-sound set-up is possible.
Thanks in advance for any help.
