  1. I understand that they probably are a good bit better, however at the start of that clip they sounded muffled. But at the money they are asking I would prefer to get a secondhand really really good cab like vanderkley or bergantino. My overall preference would be a super12 but it is way out of my price range at the moment.

Would either of the cabs sound muffled?

  2. Hello all,

I think it is time I move this combo on. It has been well looked after and comes with the official mesa cover.

The combo itself is the 115 4Ohm version so you get the full 300W from the walkabout. It is a very very good sounding combo. I am only selling as I want to move to separate head and cab solution. The amp is the 110V version and thus will need transformed but that is no biggie as all you need is a 300W version. I also have the 240V version so if you are interested in that I may be tempted to sell at a premium.

    £700 + P&P

Barefaced S12, Bergantino HD/AE112 x2, Mesa Scout Extension Cab x2 or a Mesa guitar combo

Sell the 115 just as a cab for £300

  3. So I have been toying with the idea of getting a new cab. I have ear marked out either the Genzbenz focus 112 or the Gallien krueger 212. Both of them retail around the £200 price point. What are your opinions on the cabs? Are there others I haven't considered?

I realise that the GK will be louder than the genz cause of more speaker area, but I prefer clarity over volume and could always add a second 112 if needs be.

The amp I would be using is a mesa boogie walkabout. I had a 112 scout extension cab and it was great and at the minute I am using a mesa 115 scout combo.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I have played this, I have no idea what is going on.

  5. I put status flats on my thumb bass, not my thing at all sucked the tone out of it and I think the E string was dead. Sounded horrible. Also the tension was far too high for me. I hear ti flats are lower tension but at £50 a set I'm not sure, since I quite like the sound of Warwick red labels.

  7. So I recently bought another mesa walkabout amp. I must admit I am a bit of a fan.

So I was all lined up to play it on sunday but thought I should bring my other as a back up just encase. well the inevitable happened the new one stopped working. No probs I just changed them over.

    What happened?
With the power light still running the sound cut out to both cab and the di. I noticed the preamp valves were almost glowing white (compared with my other which is more of a slight red-ness at the bottom)

    How do I fix it?
Do I need valves? could it be something more sinister?

  8. So I took your advice, back panel off and check for loose valves. everything seems tight enough.

I then plug it is with the back panel off and strum enough to induce the hum, then I touch the valves to see if there are any changes.... how dangerous this was I do not know. turns out it stops when I touch one of the valves ie wiggle it. So I'm not sure if the valve is bad or the socket thing you put the valve in is.

It is a larger valve and thus I assume a power amp valve. El34 I assume?

Next question where is the best place to get one and how do I change it?
