Has anyone got advise on how to stay loose when gigging?
I'm having problems with my fingering hand when playing live. Clearly nerves are playing a part but even when I've relaxed my fingers become stiff and I lose speed in my fingering. The stiffness comes right up my forearm to my elbow.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Do you practice? Do you practice like a gig i.e. long periods of playing without big breaks?

If I were in your situation I'd find the song that causes the most issue and practice it over and over again without really stopping and work on a feel that lets you play without discomfort. You might be way out of whack on your technique or maybe just a tiny tweak away from perfect.

  3. I had to make a similar decision. 62 or 74 (birth year) the 74 was absolutely outstanding. The tone was incredible, it played like nothing else, it weighed 7 metric tonnes. The 62 sounded amazing, the C neck was harder to play but it sounded better than anything I'd heard before apart from the 74, it weighed very little.

In the end I chose the 62 as it was for gigging not recording. If I was looking for something that I didn't have to hold for 2 hours it would have been the 74 no doubt at all.

  4. I think handles that mount on the current handles might the the bodge I need. I'm 6'1" but when the can is angled back it's pretty low down especially if you are trying to get over uneven ground.

I was looking at an Ampeg 6x10 on Ebay that gave me the idea for the additional handles.

  5. I've been struggling with my back for a while and the worst part is bending from hte waist. My current Genz Benz 2x12 has been spot on for every gig I've played with it over the last couple of years and being on tilt back casters easy tomove about for a normal person. For me though it means bending down to reach the handles, putting me at a very awkward and painful angle. My idea then is to get something that is a 1 hand carry or a little left field taller than the 2x12 so I don't have to bend forward to wheel it around.

Any recomendations? Head is an EBS Reidmar.

I did consider DIY maybe a 15" with something else up top. As long as I can lean it over onto my car boot opening I can transport it.

    thanks

  6. Game of two halves this weekend. Friday we played to about 40 people, 2 of them clapped the rest just looked coked out of their heads and not interested. Got told to turn down by the barman twice. Meh

Saturday few more people, but the layout of the venue made it seem much busier. Hugely knowledgable crowd, good banter, very receptive and due to a tip jar going round we made more money than normal.
