1. Bit cheeky of me to answer this, but, anyway...

I got my Dominator many years ago (about 1980). I also had a bass one (same amp, 15" driver). I used both as a guitar back line (guitar "wet", bass "dry"), before I saw the light and became a bassist. I lost the bass one when it was dropped (or thrown, I never really knew which) out of the back of a Luton van, and smashed.

As a bass amp, the guitar version is OK, at low volumes, and if you don't dig in too much. Fine as a practice/bedroom amp. It sounds lovely with my fretless Corvette. But it does start to fart (but not bottom) well before any valve grit starts (which is about 6-7 on the dial; mind you, so did the bass version). And it certainly doesn't cope well with the low B on my T-bird, at any volume! I've also used on occasions as a reinforcement for my double bass, and it coped moderately well, as long bass was rolled off a bit.

The only problem is the speaker - a Celestion G12-50 (an early replacement, I forget why, not the original). I reckon that with a more modern 12" bass driver it would be a good bass amp. But the problem there might be finding a 16Ohm driver.

Oh, and it sounds fabulous with my telecaster.

the most interesting feature most people overlooks, and one that set these apart is the way the neck joins the body almost all the way to the centre of the body, the rep who was there told me it offers the best compromise in tonal rendition between a bolt on and a fixed neck.

Interestingly, that technique was used in the (very) late Shergolds.
Very few of them were made, however.

  3. The extended neck heel, joint, pickups, and hardware, are all very like those on my Jackson Concert 5. Pretty generic, but oddly similar. Although the Jacskson pups have Duncan branding on them.

  4.
that was on before not so long ago.
Yeah, I posted it, and I think I described is as having been "hit with the sparkly ugly stick".
I actually kind of like it.
Sicko!

  5.
Yeah, but most of the time (as a bassist) when I see the treble clef, I'm instantly filled with DREAD! Usually means whoever notated the music is an idiot or a guitardist (or worse, SINGER :)) will appear within a matter seconds. Booooo.
It's not as bad as seeing the TENOR clef, cos then you know the arranger is a smart-arse who is going to ask you to do three impossible things before breakfast.

  6.
particularly the flying V!
Stan's 'bic Flying V looks like it's suffering from a severe case of the mumps. Utterly vile; hard to believe someone wasted good wood on it, or that someone with eyes would buy it.

  7.
Sorry, but I don't want PMs from stupid people that don't read it properly saying its sold! Maybe there should be a sub forum where sold items can be moved to.
If you use the [s]strikethrough[/s] on the price, and put SOLD beside it, then even fools won't PM you, but the price will still be visible.
