1. Our bands tuning: down a semi i.e.

Guitarist: Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb

    Me: Eb, Ab, Db, Gb

The official reason is that it helps to fatten the sound up - (well that's what I tell the guitarist and drummer)

The real reason is that it helps me reach the high notes when I'm singing

  2. Fellow Low End Midlanders,

Although I can't make it, I'm in Italy on the 16th, I hope you guys have a great time.

Would have been nice to meet everyone - even though It would have been a 160 mile round trip.

    Nevermind......maybe next time? :)

    Cheers,

    Mart

  3.
does he mean pelham blue not pellum blue?
    Looks nice
Yeah, looks like Pelham Blue, a Cadillac colour (color) from the sixties. I've seen it, a few years ago, on an SG from that period, where it appeared to be a wierd shade of green! - the light reacting with the poly finish no doubt.

Great to see the colour as it was meant to be.....

  4. Welcome dabootsy,

Although I'm a rocker myself........I love those Bernard Edwards grooves........and I guess that you may be into Bootsy as well? - funktastic!

    Cheers,

  5.
Harvester is a pub chain ? Which one ?
Machines,

I talking about 'The Harvester' pub not pubs that are run by the Harvester chain:

    Address: Tanhouse Farm Road, Solihull, B92 9EY - www.harvesterlife.com

If you haven't been in, they have some great bands on.....lots of music tastes catered for....great crowd....fantastic place to play........worth a visit

  6. Great looking bass Machines,

I've got a transitional bridge one myself. Can you still buy the mute kits and if so where from and how much?

That pickup placement does look rather interesting...........

By the way, noticed where you live, do you ever play at the Harvester in Solihull? - one of my fave gigs, fantastic crowd.

  7. Hello hippybass,

    Nice to have you here.......

I've got a Jetglo 4003s - that's the mono model (i.e. single input), with a dot neck and no binding on the body.

I've had a 4001 and a 4003 in the past, but I find that the 's' is a lot more comfortable to play and gives a slightly different sound (more rounded, not as clanky....... a bit more Macca?)

    Anyway,

    All the best,

    Mart.

  8.
Hi Simon and welcome to the site.

I prefer ash ones myself, but each to their own - black, very gothic!
Linz,

Wow..... me a goth at my age......

Hey now I think of it, I was almost one first time around :)

You don't come from Austria do you?

    Cheers,

    Mart.

  9. Welcome Simon,

I see you like black basses....... I'm a fan of that colour(?) too.

Black clothing with a black bass = pure rock 'n' roll..... as long as you've been using your 'Head and Shoulders', that is :)

    Cheers,

    Mart.

  10. Welcome Nick,

    So glad you made it.....

Is there much weight in the 6x10 (i.e. can someone with a dodgy back/knees, like me, cope with it)?

    Cheers,

    Mart.

  11. I don't know if any of you guys and gals have talked about rockstarsguitars.com before, but what a place that is - I tend to dip into the site occasionally just for a nose around.

Has anybody ever purchased anything from them?...... What kind of prices do things go for?.....How much for that Macca pick?........The 'Ox' flightcase?.....etc.

I daren't contact them just in case I pass out and bump my head when I fall after finding out the prices!

My fave on the site at the moment is the Jack Bruce 1966 Gibson 'Sunshine' EB3...... wow, how much is that I wonder?

    Comments folks?

  12. In my house 7 basses are the maximum.

You see, I've got 14 at the moment but don't tell her indoors - she thinks that I've only got half that number.

Now this is how the con works, what I do is put 7 cases containing basses behind 7 basses on stands and make out that the cases are empty and for the basses on the stands - clever huh!

So the official line is that 8 basses are too many in Woodenshirt Towers.

There again, she ain't that stupid so she most likely knows what I'm doing and is probably just humouring me........
